This celex company is based in kolkata called them up to enquire if I can get HSRP ,but they said the vehicles registered after 17th Jan 2011 is mandated to have this plates ,vehicles before that won't need them but I was keen to put those plates on my bike (bought on 7th Jan 2011) and they said that untill govt. is issuing circular for HSRP on older vehicles they won't fit HSRP on older vehicles..

IND plates in bangalore - 500Rs

I just happened to call the below number and was quoted Rs 500 for the IND number plates.

IND number plates that are being sold around by various vendors in India right now is not the standard that Government is heading towards. Although both my bike and car have one of this, I am well aware that I will have to get it changed once the actual HSRP vendor is decided upon. The one that I have now is done just to stick to a basic standard.

Thats correct, RTOs have given only few dealers he permission for IND number plates.
BTW today's Delhi TOI had a full fledged article on HSRPs. We need to go to our respective RTOs to get these plates and they will give us sometime to get those fixed. It will cost 70INR for two wheelers. It looks same as Utsav plate that I have except the laser imprint and the different hologram. Now I am thinking why I got the Utsav(331 INR) when it was mandatory at that time.

High Security Number PLate will be non breakable and non reusable. Any attempt of removing or tampering with number plate will result in breaking its lock making impossible to affix any other number plate on it. It will end up in identifying the stolen vehicles easily.

Its absolutely fine, just follow the rules and enjoy your stay

2nd thing, My bike is of U.P. Registration and I need those "HSPR IND Number Plate" for my bike.

Number plate lagalities

As per Central Motor Vehicle Rules 1989 :

1) Rule 50 (1) gives the specifications for High Security Registration plates once the rule is implemented.
This rule is currently not implemented in Tamilnadu. In this case what is the legal size for front and rear number plates for motorcycles?

2) Rule 50 (2) reads "In the case of motor cycles the registration mark in the front shall be displayed parallel to the handle bar or on any part of the vehicle including mudguard facing the front instead of, on a plate in line with the axis of the vehicle".
It means for two-wheelers in the front, the registration number can be displayed in number plate or on mudguard with prescribed font and size (Rule 51 specifies font details).

If the registration number is displayed on front mudguard with stickers (as per point (2)), is it an offense?
