Had to do oil change.

Which engine oil is suitable for HH Super Splendor, the service centre guy told they use the same oil for CD Dawn and Karizma, so its the best oil, but what do members have to say regarding this?
    1. abt the oil.... 2 months is quite some time. people usually change oil btw 1.5 to 2 months. though how many kms did u cover in these 2 months??

    2. pls see that u pour in the oil with correct grade.

    3. service centre guys will always push u to buy their oil, but its not the best. u can go for motul / shell / valvolin or even castrol is better. choose ur brand as per its availability / affordability

as i forgor to mention in my previous post, "pls correct me if i m wrong"........
You are absolutely spot on about the jaso ma and clutch issue my man I just finished researching on the whole jaso ma situation turns out I experienced a bit of clutch slipping today stupid me should have looked around the net before blindly buying and pouring it in the gearbox. I give you +1 internets!

      • Re: Car engine oil in motorcycle. @saurabhjd said it all. Just remember, cars have different 'engine oil' and 'gear oil'. The motorcycle we generally ride has same oil that does duty for both engine and gear box. Car 'engine' oil generally has friction modifiers that causes clutch slippage on wet clutch motorcycles.

see, even a pack of castrol power 1 says its recommended for all performance bikes of HH, Bajaj, TVS etc etc. where as it can not be used in my p220 as it is in different grade.

i think u get my point.

I prefer and use w40 on my Zma-R as it is smoother for my engine though recommended grade is w30. In fact, now weather has become pretty cold, especially early in the morning, the bike is smoother than ever because oil is thicker when cold. During hot summer days, even w40 seems to get pretty thin making engine harsh.
I am afraid you have got that wrong Kaynmantis. In engine grades, in xWy grade, x means the cold starting temperature. The colder it gets, the lower the number becomes suitable for the engine. The right side of the W, which is y, means the grade to maintain viscosity when the engine is revving. Higher revving engines like pulsars generate more heat, and thus require xW50 which retains the viscosity of the oil in the high temperature. In some other engines, like Unicorn, xW40 is recommended, because the revving is lower and thus less heat is generated.

By using a higher grade oil in a lower revving engine (long strokers like Unicorn), the oil remains too thick, because the engine does not generate enough heat for the oil to achieve the required viscosity. Similarly, by using a lower grade oil in a higher revving engine (short strokers like Pulsar), the oil will become too runny too quickly due to the excess heat and will not be able to provide the required lubrication.

It is never recommended to change the grade of the oil on the right side of W, but changing the oil on the left of W is ok and will not harm the engine. The manual usually has the details of what grade of oil must be used for the engine.

                  Just my 2 cents.

I bought this bike on January.Completed 8500km.Till now the bike is running on Yamalube semi synthetic oil.Well i am planning to go for fully synthetic. Is is a good move? And do i have to change the oil filter as i am going for a different mode. Some guys says that fully synthetic oil damages the engine. Is it so.And finally do refer me the name of some good fully synthetic oil if you Bhp.ians recommend it.
                    Thanks

OMG you are using a full synthetic oil at just 1500kms?? Man you are keen to ruin your bike. Before using any FS/SS oil you should wait atleast 3k kms. No doubt those problems are arising due to your improper methods of using the oil.

shell advanced 4t doesn't meet or up to JASO MA2 standard where as Elf 4 gold or gulf pride and motul 3000t exceeds JASO MA2 standard those are good for the bike.

at last please do follow the manual and go as per.

                          • Engine Oil for Pulsar 180

                            Guys,
My Pulsar 180 has clocked 15000 on the odo, most of the time i've used the stock engine oil.
Now i want to upgrade to a good engine oil(synthetic maybe) as the gears keep slipping and the engine vibrations have also increased so please help me in choosing the best engine oil......

I also want to know the optimum change interval for the oil

It would be even better if sum1 can tell me wgere i can get the engine oil in Hyderabd

                            TIA

if i say change engine oil 3k once then its a generic statement, its your bike and it depends up on your driving style and maintenance inspect oil 10 days once and if it is pitch black and the engine feels bit rough then you need to change oil,

Synthetic is good but costly, Synthetic oil is not a magic liquid that fixes all the issues; but it will reduce wear and tear of the engine

by the way how many kilometers covered after the last oil change

and what is the oil level (min or max or in between)

as said in my previous post just check the automobile shop for a good JASO MA2 standard oil.

stick to your bike manufacturers oil grade (example 10W-30 or 20W-50) check manual for further details
