Sir ji, there is 1)5100 10w30, 2)5100 15W50, 3)7100 10W40. Where is 5100 10W40? Also, strange, the motul site I openis a totally different site! Will have to crosscheck the links

Is 5100 there in 10w-40??
Have never seen it though in stores.

none of them have stock of 10w40
they asked their distributor in front of me
he told 10w40 doesn't come

Hey guys,

Anyone ever tried Heavy Duty Engine Oil before? A few of my friends got their hands on it and gave very good reviews.

I thought of grabbing one but would like to ask opinions from pro first. (Sorry, still a noob)

These are of Petro-Canada brand. I am using a Fazer so I would like to ask which one is better among these two:
1. Duron E-Synthetic 10w40 (Fully Synthetic)(HDEO)
2. Duron E-XL 15W40 (Semi Synthetic)(HDEO)

1. DURON-E is formulated to the highest API 4-stroke diesel and gasoline engine oil performance standards and is suitable for use in extended oil drain service.
2. Suitable for use in wet clutch applications where JASO MA or MA2 is recommended.

So is it suitable for my bike?

While browsing through a few forums related to Ducati / Yamaha R1 etc today i read that the 300V should be used if one is using the bike on track more than on the road/streets as they are specially developed for racing bikes whereas for normal street usage 7100 is more than enough. Now how true is this?

"just wanted to maybe shed some light on the oil topic.. using my experiance in drag racing and engine building.

motul 300v is what i use and recommend in all my race engines, drag bikes, high performance, etc. ( i saw it mentioned here.) The problem with 300v in a street engine is 2 fold. 1. it does not have the rust preventatives that some other oils have in them. oil by itself IS NOT a rust preventative. i know common knowledge says it is, but its not. if your riding every day, this isnt a problem, but if your going to let it sit then use a different oil.

secondly. 300v is made to be used hard, then changed. NOT for extended periods of times. ie 4500 miles (where i change my oil) basically the oil binders break down after multiple heat cycles. this can be mitigated though. IF you are going to use 300v, i strongly recommend you buy the additive ZDDP and mix it according to the instructions. This will bring the zinc levels up to the 1600ppm levels that amsoil has from the current 1100ppm level. amsoil actually performs better in the 4 ball wear test than 300v, but adding the ZDDP will make it perform as good, or better than amsoil. this wont help keep the oil from breaking down, but it WILL give you more protection with more zinc so it becomes less of an issue.

for the "normal" guy. i would strongly recommend using Motul 7100, Mobil 1 4t, or Amsoil. these are my favorite oils in order from (imo) best to worst. however, worst doesn't mean bad. they are all really really good, and these are all better "street" oils than 300v even though they will all perform similarly in the wear dept. this engine will never produce enough stress to really need 300v or amsoil.

I personally am running the 7100. and it works great. the reason i choose motul is because their oils just shift so much better than others. using 7100 has almost eliminated the neutral to 1st problem when sitting at a light. it still happens occasionally but not as bad as with the factory oil. (but ive also only had the bike a week so i could be talkin out my ass lol, it might get bad again) anyone using 300v can attest to the motul shifting qualities. Also motul is the only group 5 oil out of the ones mentioned here. which doesn't mean "better" in performance test, but it is more environmentally friendly in disposal, it is ester based which means less demand for fossil fuels and ester based oils generally leave engines cleaner than PAO base stocks (i also recommend the engine clean at oil changes)

@Azfar - The oils looks good.. especially the circular API symbol. Have not seem them on most of the oils marketed here - The only claim 'exceeds the requirements of API SL' etc.. even the best FS oil claims these but fails to put the authorised API symbol. By the way where did you find them?

I am from Malaysia and this oil is available there. I am studying here in Davangere. This oil is also available in Indonesia if I am not mistaken.

Thought of grabbing some and bringing it back here. If I convert the price from Malaysian Ringgit to Indian Rupees, the prices would be as follows :

1. Duron E-Synthetic 10w40 (Fully Synthetic)(HDEO) = Rs. 794
2. Duron E-XL 15W40 (Semi Synthetic)(HDEO) = Rs. 618

So I can use it on my bike right? And from what I have heard, HDEO can be used for longer intervals, is that true?

No one can make the oil analysis based on color. Its a correlation between experience of running and the color of oil which gives a lead on quality.

High performance diesel engine oils does last longer than normal oils.. Fazer 150 cc takes 3000 km / oil change and if the performance is good you may extend them to 4000 kms.

Take FS oil(as it is hardly any different to the pricing of SS you mentioned) and go till 5000 kms (keeping a strict vigil on the dip stick post 2500 kms)

Elf Gold, Motul 3000 4T 20W40, Valvoline 20W40, some of the best out there. But if you still want the elusive brands please buzz 'B7ACKTHORN' He's cool at this stuff. Seriously

It is very much available. Ask him to get you the 10w40 if thats what you really want, he should be able to source it, else go for the xW50. Won't cause any problems for you.
