If you have used 5w40 motul even that is incorrect. its 10w40. I think very recently they have introduced 5w grades in India. But yet to see them in the market.

Also mobil 0wXX is a car specific oil. Cant be used on bikes.(but why will anyone use any other xyz oil which costs 1000 bucks a litre when you have 300V in around 900~950/L.
I saw people are using diesel oil. Just want to run my engine cool in this hot summer and smooth.

Don't go by sites 5w40 motul was there, roughly 1 year back when I bought it only later they shift to 10W40 and 5W40 was discontinued i think & recently launched again, and its a bike specific oil. You can search and find pics/ forums regarding the same, but not the official India motul site.

Yes, you will find many bikers around the world using diesel oils. If you want to use 0W40 Mobil, you can. Its your bike.

Great oils, use them and give us the review, if you wish.

Your oil, your risk! My oil my risk!

Yes, saw this site.. http://matrixsyntheticoils.com/store...ycle_oils.html its all there But dont use oils of that ratings in hot climate like India.

Please read this article from the person of highest respect in the biking fraternity

I would type in a line from the article(unable to copy) - Motorcycles need higher viscosity oils in comparison to four wheelers. The lowest viscosity grades recommended by JASO are 10W40 and 10W30.......

Use Rimula X3 if you have a ZMA.. If you have a FZ use Mobil Delvac 1300. Bith these oils have been tested by users here and found to be very good from overheating and smoothness perspective.

                .
K, but how come 5W40 become insufficient for a motorcycle whose reccommented viscosity is 10w30. I felt better cooling property than d shell ss 10w40 using the motol on long runs too.(this was the most visible change among the two, other wise both were more or less equally good!) a 5w-- will give better protection at morning starts than a higher grade no? and that link is not working. and whats the reccommented grade for Vespa here?

                  • Was waiting for Murlidhar's post.. I always remember his Vespa 5w40 oil posts when I tell ppl about 5W40 not good for Indian climate.

Anyways I also remember my posts mentioning 5W40 grade oils approved by JASO sometime back.. You may also see the JASO approved oils from their official website.

This article was written in 2011. Engine oil quality has also improved over the years and even 0w oils have been recommended in motorcycles as per JASOs recent list, but i would still abstain from trying 5w oils(firstly a I remember Chairman of Jaso's words and secondly they are too costly for my liking). These 5W oils are not mixed synthetic oils and pour point additive employing engine oils which are used in cars. These are pure 100% synthetics. Shell advance 10w40 (ultra) has 20-30% pure synthetic. If you use pure synthetics you will get 0w or 5w rating easily. You get 10w30 oil in 250 rs but you cant get 5w40 in even in 3 times the cost.

If the link is not working you have to have a pdf reading add on installed. Otherwise you may right click and save link as and then open.

Then you can use it.. Its not the 0w and 5w oils I am talking about!!

Dont know why 5w40 from motul costs 950/L? 5W40 from Total quartz cost 1100/L, 5w40 from Mobil costs 1100/L , Castrol magnatec professional 5w40 for skoda costs 1000/L, Delvac 5W40 costs 1000/L, Shell Helix Ultra costs 900/L when we have a 5W40 in 280 bucks!

@mid - I have shared google link for that too.. just edited and made some space so that you can use it.

These oils do have higher margins and the 300v i bought was for 690 bucks and off course not made in India.
