Please take a look at the following link to read a brief description about the various engine oils offered by Honda HondaOriginally posted by girish78 View PostHello friendsMy Honda cb unicorn has clocked 3k kms. Since your Unicorn is new and has only clocked 3000 kms, it is better to stay with mineral oil supplied by Honda (white colored bottle) ............... you may consider to use "Throttle" engine oil after a run of around 10 - 15 k kms.
Allow me to further add a little experience of mine here to help you figure out the usual situation at the Honda's ASC .............. you will notice that in every service (free/paid), which is in your case is free as of now, the money charged per unit is increased, be it engine oil or labor etc etc .............. I had such an unsatisfactory experience at them that I moved out to a better mechanic after completion of 1 year standard warranty. You will realize this manipulation after a year, trust me.

Re: Engine Oils
The biggest disadvantage is that everytime when you put your bike on service at an ASC, God knows the mechanic (with his own days of exp) who handles and submits back the report sheet to inform completion of the service. I had such a bad experience with noise from my rear brakes at ASC. It was finally resolved and explained to me in details by an outside mechanic only when I chose to move out of ASC. Guys at ASC had declared that the creepy noise from rear drum is a very usual problem.Originally posted by sinnerz2000 View PostYea ASC suck! Besides they have average mechanics there.
This is the biggest aspect upon which Honda seriously needs to work upon................ they provide world-class quality motorcycles but offer a disaster in service

(Though, value addition from use of FS is debatable)Originally posted by xpranav View PostSince your Unicorn is new and has only clocked 3000 kms, it is better to stay with mineral oil supplied by Honda (white colored bottle) ............... you may consider to use "Throttle" engine oil after a run of around 10 - 15 k kms
No worries. Just follow recommended drain intervals. Dont extend drain intervals on new engine when you use FS.Originally posted by girish78 View PostSo what should i do now??? Change engine oil to a honda mineral one???? My bike has clocked 500 kms with throttle already.

Re: Engine Oils
Dont stretch any oil to 5k kms. Max should be 3-3.5k. Also, change the oil by 70-75 days period or at the specific drain, whichever comes earlier.Originally posted by princesirohi View Postthanks, ...

Re: Engine Oils
that is the reason i asked it here, coz i have never streched any oil to 5000 kms, but P200NS says oil change interval is at 10,000 kms with a top up at 5000 kms. the service interval is at 5000 kms. and it is recomended to use Bajaj DTS-i oil.
although i will not stretch any oil be it bajaj or motul to 10,000 kms as recommended in manual for P200NS, but since service interval is at 5000 kms, thats why i asked.
has anybody used motul 5100 for 5000 kms..??

If service interval is 10,000 kms on DTSi. You can definitely use it for 5000 Kms. But there should be a clause for duration too. If I had to change oil every 10K, it would be around 1 year. I dont think thats advisable.
By the way, when did you bought the bike?? Nice choice.

Re: Engine Oils
Congrats !! I think sticking to the OEM's guidelines will ensure continuation of warranty on your machine for the stated period ............ please check before you decide to change oil or anythingOriginally posted by princesirohi View Postthanks, i got it on last friday.
duration is not a problem, 1 week and 650 kms done already.
