Though Bajaj claims it a 10k and svc folks claim it a 6k, the practical usage for an average joe who commutes to office and tours and goes by his daily chores on a "Bajaj bike" is not more than 3k to 3.5k max. The only gripe is w40 grade is a very economical grade as now people know the advantages of using a HDEO in a motorcycle, the advantages are exponential compared to costlier siblings where you can get a HDEO grade like Delvac and Rimula very easily.

If you can get a DEO go for it, forget DTSI 10,000 and the likes.

Again I used it till 3k till the typical Crapstrol symptoms came in. That's when I drained. And two of my friends use the same oil in their 180 and 220, the 220 guy always complains about harsh engine, whereas teh 180 guy is happy but not happy with gear shifts. Both are upwards of 3k

And initially till 2.5k it performs good, nothing to go gaga about just as your normal mineral oil, but things go northwards after that mark. I never ever recommend or have ever recommended DTSI 10,000 it's only a worse case scenario.

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Shall be waiting for your feedback Harikishen'jee . My splendor+ is running on 10w30 Hero oil for this winter , works fine in this cold and I got a lot of this oil very cheap , so I am using it up . But I am already worrying about coming summer when no 10w30 oil seems to hold well in the heat . Also update about the cost - since the splendor's motor love quick oil changes .
Have you tried the Gulf Synth 4t plus 10w30 ( dark blue bottle ) ? It's just superb and just only Rs 300 a bottle or so - and synthetic . If I get no new options to experiment , this is what I shall buy next .

Pinaki ji, if my memory serves me correct, I think you've asked this question about "HDEOs" on bikes especially on your Splendor quite a lot of times, and intermittently and you've been getting the same answers from Muzz and quite a few. Why don't you take a plunge in the HDEO once and for all and reap the benefits.

The Oil does its part after 100 kms.. the bike will be smoother with lesser vibes.. I used Rimula R4 on my ZMR for a little more than 8000 kms and it did its duty. though it gave up on me every 1400 kms and 1700 kms being max.. I shifted to Shell AX7 and completed some 70 kms on it.. in a day the oil feels good and feels a little better than the Rimula R4.. hope to get some better feeds from the engine after completing 200 kms with it..

Rimula R4 is a Mineral oil and I guess it will last for some 1500 kms and for few it has lasted till 2000 kms. can't be sure why it only lasted max 1700 kms for me. All I know is, it has done its job wonderfully well enjoyed the smooth ride and it was time to shift to Semi Synthetic.

AX7 is SS oil and it's a good oil have been used it, and currently our Activa too runs on Agip mineral oil, nothing drastic as such, but good smooth engine. Why not consider Mobil Delvac, it's a good oil too and it should be available at a dealer next to you who deals with truck souvenirs.

                        Cheers!

I opted for delvac but the shop didn't have motul ranges. Only rimula so went r4.

Hey if you live in Chennai it's real easy for you to get Motul range of oils. I could have helped you. But you didn't ask, so enjoy the R4

For the last week been fooling around with the MSDS and TDS of HDEOs.

                                Observations:

N/A simply means that component is not mentioned in MSDS.

All the 3 Mobil HDEOs compared have the JASO recommended less-than-1.2 % sulfated ash.

1300 Super seems high in detergents compared to 1400 super.

Overall 1400 Super seems superior (ZDDP + detergent) than 1300 Super.

                                Observations:

Both AX-7 and Ultra (Both motorcycle oils - Not HDEO) have very similar specs. AX-7 is SS. Rest of them are all mineral.

If one considers AX-7 to be one of the best oils, R4 is even more better.

                                R3X's sulfated ash is 1.59 %.

AX-7 is more viscous at 100 degrees and offers more protection?

                                Conclusion:

If Delvac 1400 Super/R4 will damage Catcon, so will AX-7.

If Detergents in R4 will do damage, so will AX-7.

But since AX-7 won't do any damage, one can expect R4/Delvacs to be a gem as well.
