Nope! I don't get any smoke. but this time the floor manager suggested me that after I complete 500-600km using this oil. Running for around 5-10km, check the bike in idling position if any smoke can be detected. I will try but I doubt.

If you live on hotter place it better to use a higher grade like 20w50. Keeps the engine cooler. Valvoline 4t premium is 20w50

My bike was parked since 9 months(July 2013). The last oil change was done a year ago(April 2013). I had filled Shell AX7. The oil was used for around 2500 km. Is it okay to ride the bike with that old oil for around 5-10 km (by riding within 4000 RPM) to get the engine oil changed or is it too big of a risk and better to get the oil changed at home?

Relax.. warm the bike up for 30 seconds then ride to get the oil changed
Your in no risk as yet but its not advisable to continue this way.
                Good luck!
Please be very very periodical and methodic in your oil changes,, a good oil will keep your engine happy and a bad oil can kill your engine.
Fill in servo run the engine for about 10 mins, rev the engine a little every minute for 5 seconds
                Drain the oil
Add a new good quality oil,
The servo is like a flush to get all the gunk and thickened oil and carbon and sludge out.
The next oil is your primary oil change and use it for less than 2k kms.
After that as you wish and as mch the oil lasts

Friends, what's the life of Shell AX7 10W40 when used in a CBR250? I have covered close to 2000 kms/2 months with the AX7 and I feel like the oil is nearing the end of it's life - on hot days, the engine feels exceptionally rough and unrefined and staggers in stop-go traffic, though early mornings are still smooth.
Moreover, I also noticed a loss of top-end (down to 130kph from 140) after I switched from OEM to Shell AX7 - thinking of switching back to Throttle 10W30

Biking is not about how many Km/h you put on your Speedo. It's about how many miles you put on your Odo. Ride Safe, Ride Long!

I dont think its a smart choice to use ax7 in a cbr250, you do very high speeds hence go for a fully synthetic oil and change every 3 k kms.
Try a fully synthetic from motul or mobil or even petronas if you can get your hands on it.....
Brother man trust me an oil filter change and a fully synthetic engine oil in a little thinner version is your best friend for high speed high revving riding.

Yes I Do Live In Hotter Place But Using 20w-50 Would Result In Slow Acceleration And My Scooty Is Already Very Lazy!

Switch to Shell advance ultra with an oil filter change. Best oil so far for CBR250R.

Thanks for the info. I already bought the AX7 today. The 50 off coupon got from xBhp alert went in vain as the idiots at the Shell bunk don't have a clue about the coupon and didn't honour it at all. Shell should first send the offer details to their retailers before sending it to the customers.

Your engine would become hot within 15 mins. Since shell isn't available go for valvoline 4t champion mineral.

I am still a bit confused about which oil to use in my RTR 160
Should I stick to the recommended grade or should I change to 20wxx grade?

What Is The Difference B/W The Grades Of Valvoline Champ And Premium ? Both xxw-50 ?
If Yes I Would Better use The Premium One
