    Ahh right my bad
Gear oil mein try to give diesel car oil a shot for once it will clean up the gunk inside, use for 500km and drain and it will be cheap too use mak or something
And then try motul 20w50 ss oil, fs oil is an overkill I guess for our bikes.

Done deal, although i feel my bike's clutch assembly is clean i will still give the bike this diesel oil bath, and then i will go for this motul 20w50, you are right the pricing of this fs oil is high plus the hot and humid environment of our country makes this engine oil to evaporate, is motul supplying fs 2t oil also which can be mixed in petrol.

For our riding conditions, FS can last max for 4 to 4.5k kms. Always recommended to re fill in the above interval.

For any riding condictions except motoracing, the genuine FS oil (having PAO, PAG, Polyesters) should last for 6K kms atleast. We have members here reporting 9K kms on FS oil. If FS oil costing 800+ Rs lasts for 4 -4.5K kms, users might as well use mineral oil costing 270 Rs which lasts for 2.5K Kms. The purpose of using FS oil is lost.

I dont say you cant use FS oils for 9K Kms, you can use even mineral oil for 6K kms, the point I was making or trying to make was that the oils loose their properties after a certain extent of running and turn black. This results in vibrations, gear shift problems and engine running rough which most of us can observe after running the bike for say 4K kms after a fresh refill.

Here is lot of dust here compared to other countries where the manufacturer might have tested the oil which can sneak through air filters and reach the engine which again affects the oil. The running temperatures will also be higher and if the viscosity is lost, then the oil you are using is as useful as ueue in Queue.

Try running FS for 6K kms and check while you drain the colour of the oil and see if it is golden to brown or black. It is healthier for the engine and for proper lubrication to change FS at 4.5 to 5K kms.

Coming to the cost part, it is not just the longevity of the oil, while going for FS you get better viscosity at higher and lower temps, better lubrication and yes of course ~2X increase in drain interval.
          Cheers

Again brother it will vary on the bike and riding conditions too, moreover clocking kms on an oil should depend more on the feel of the oils smoothness etc rather than the no, of kms on the odo,
Moreover fs oil should be used more for its smoother, cooler running and better protection of bikes internals rather than its lasting capacity.
Please dont be offended brother. Just a thought

Most of the car makers in europe or america mentions oil drain period in there manual at some 7,500 to 10,000 miles, and in some cases can stretch upto 12000miles, Oil giant Mobil recommends there mobil 4t 10w40 is recommend for on road high performance motorcycles, and a special mobil V-twin 20w50 is recommended for v-twin engines, in particular which are air cooled by the likes of Harleys, and triumphs.

A query, does engine oil takes some time to give butter smooth shifts. .?
Chnged to 3100 gold, but 2>1>3 gear downshift (upshift is kickass) is very loud and unpleasant, can somewhat loose clutch gear be responsible. .?

Every oils work best when it comes to its operating temp., oil will not achieve its complete operating temp simply by idling oil requires some driving, or riding and to be put under load to get to its temp.them more viscous an oil more time it will take to get at the operating temp., check the grade your vehicle manufacturer has recommended and then change the oil according to the manual and see the difference, what vehicle you have got ,pls give more information so that other more experienced and intelligent member of this forum can advice you correctly.

Which ride? And what gradenof oil please?
Oil is usually smoother after 1st 2 kms because it warms up.
Now downshift being bad is usually not because of oil, check clutch lever play and adjust from engine side.

Oil turning black is not an indication that the oil has lost its lubrication. In fact it is an indication that the oil is doing its job to keep the engine internals clean. The oil turns black because it cleans the gunk from the engine and holds it in suspension and does not allow the gunk to settle on the metal parts of the engine.

The real test to find out the usability of oil is to touch the oil. If the oil is still sticky in feel and does not feel grainy, it can still be used for a few hundred kms. You will come to know of the feel with experience. Try out feeling a few used oils at a friend mechanic's workshop who changes oils. I have done this at my friend's workshop and learnt by experience.
