The HH oil which is Idemitsu is best Mineral oil for Honda engines.. & I can gurantee you that some ZMA owners has come back to stock HH Mineral oil after using petronas, Motul synthetics.. so U can understand from it how good it can be.. do not use castrol It simply heats up the engine & doesnt hold more than max 1 - 1.5k Kms..Originally posted by Coplay@180 View PostBut how good is that engine oil?? I know some users who are using Castrol active 4T...
U can try & use Petronas sprinta 10w40 or motul 300x 5w40 or Agip 5w40 Once out of all these 3 I think petronas is vfm @ 370rs a ltr
if u want to use Motul 300v on ZMA then U can try 5w40 version which is close to ZMAs Grade..Originally posted by kaynmantis View PostGood suggestion. Wanted to try Motul 300V myself but could not get it in ZMA grade.sigpicAll India Permit 1+1

hey shreeni whr did u manage to find d petronas oil in bangalore? i checked wid all local oil suppliers but was shocked by thr replies!! dey told dey haven't even heard of word petronas, everyone! one guy finally told i knw abt dat company but u can find it only in jc road, can u suggest me some place whr it is availableOriginally posted by Shreeni0403 View Post
I know AGIP is good but the way u commenting on CP1R !!
I used it for almost 7000kms and it did its best. Have done 160kms non stop rides twice a week.
But yeah what all u said holds good for Castrol Power 1... Not the Power 1 Racing... With my experience.. Anyways personal opinion, no offense
Petronas Sprinta 5000 fully synthetic is complete VFM.

BTW, even I change the Fully Synth oil in my R15 at every service - 3K KMs.Originally posted by Shreeni0403 View PostU mean to say, u change even SYNTHETIC oil for every 2k
Anyways, i second your opinion about Sprinta. In beginning was scared bcz of low price and quality. But after 1000kms am pretty satisfied. Even i was using P1R and it did its job pretty well.
Petronas ppl are selling the Sprinta at a lower cost just to market it. It was Rs 330 last year. Now it is Rs 450. Slowly it will settle down at its genuine price between Rs 700 & 800 like other Fully Synthetic oils.
With this oil you don't need to worry about the oil change any sooner... happy riding.Originally posted by dreamz_mak View PostI am using Gulf pride 4T 10w30
The HH oil is among the best unless you get a bottle made by BPCL (MAK). If you get a TideWater (Veedol) make or Savita Chemicals (Idemitsu) make then they are very good.Originally posted by Coplay@180 View PostBut how good is that engine oil?? I know some users who are using Castrol active 4T...
Try the Gulf and then decide. It is much better for that price. I am sure you won't go back to the Valvoline or Castrol.Originally posted by abhijeet080808 View PostI use Valvoline 20W40. Is Gulf 4T 20W40 better for my P150? Both cost around the same I guess.

Ok... will do. I have just changed it a few days ago. I will be a month or more till the bike hits 2000 kms. Anyways Castrol is crap, we all know.Originally posted by HydBiker View PostTry the Gulf and then decide. It is much better for that price. I am sure you won't go back to the Valvoline or Castrol.
Have you tried Valvoline too? It was good enough for me. If Gulf is better, then wow!

Valvoline oils are not bad... but the complaint is that the engine runs hotter with them than with some other oils. I didn't try it myself but I tried the Gulf. Some others tried the Gulf after using Valvoline... I'm telling based on their feedback.Originally posted by abhijeet080808 View PostOk... will do. I have just changed it a few days ago. I dont understand one thing. the recommended grade for a ZMA is 10W30 I assume ( I dont have a user manual for my ZMA).
Now how do all of you say that xW40( Cp1R, Petronas, AGIP) is being used without any hassles.?? isnt that the wrong grade. what does NEAREST GRADE mean??
I remember i was being shouted at for my ignorance because P180 needed a 20w50 and I was using Castrol power 1 Racing which was 10W40 I think.
Now does this mean that I can use an oil with a higher viscosity index at the end.?? i.e. is it alright to use xW40 instead of an xW30?? and is it wrong to use xW40 instead of an xW50???
Could someone elaborate on this??
Mods: I seriously feel we should have something like the first post on this thread.
Example: for every bike's name - the recommended engine oils( mineral, semi-synth & fully synth), the approx prices, the other compatible oil brands and available dealer in a specific city. Maybe an Excel document or so.
This would avoid confusion because the thread is 1479 replies old and I'm sure nobody would have the patience to read all the posts to find out which suits them best. This results in everyone asking the same old questions repeatedly.
This is just a suggestion.Never Argue with an Idiot !!!

And here I was thinking if the effect is psychological! It does run a bit hotter. Btw, my bike is P150.Originally posted by HydBiker View PostValvoline oils are not bad... but the complaint is that the engine runs hotter with them than with some other oils. The reason I suggest this is because there are so many people asking me questions on various engine oils and by the time I try to find out, I am exhausted. This mite be the case with a lot of users out here if I am not wrong.
Well I have bought a 2005 model ZMA three days back and I want to know which oil would be best. Name, availability, price & other recommendations.
