Oil level going down.. any leakage U found or the bike is drinking oil.. if the bike is drinking oil U must get it checked soon bro.. Even I had the same problem once using castrol from bike zone.. dont know what oil they use but my bike got siezed after a long run & had to replace bore kit..

My next change is petronas & I think it will take 2more months.. my current 300v W50 oil has done around 4.5k & it seems it can take another 1.5 to 2k kms of torture..

I m hoping dat petronas will not lemme down..

No signs of leakage and no smoke emmisions. When i asked the svc guys they say that the oil is the culprit.

Phew.. svc guys says anything they want.. better be careful... keep a check on U r engine time to time how many kms have U done on d sprinta ?? I sw the oil when my friend had it put in his bike it is so thin looks like water.. motul is so thick specially the W50 grade which is why it works so well evn for the bikes like Classic CBZ where Engine refinment is nil..

I have been using the oil for more than 13000km/1 year.I normally change after 4 to 5000km.The 300v is like choco milkshake with icecream for the unicorn(manje very thick for the engine).

i am planning to shift to motul 5100 4T semi synthetic oil in my pulsar180 UG4,
but i read on this thread many pulsars, avenger are prone to leak oil when MOTUL synthetic is used. is it also the problem(oil leaking) with this semi synthetic..

If you are using Semi synthetic.. then it is not a big problem since it boasts Single Ester technology.. their were problems with Fully Synthetic oil which boasts Double Ester technology in Pulsars..

You can go ahead & try the Semi synthetic version.. their are some ppl who have not had any problems even with 300v in their pulsars..

I guess 4 years could be considered to be the limit, provided it is stored in a cool, dry, dark place and is sealed. Though personally I would not be comfy about using oil that is so old, unless there is a good reason. Better to buy the newest stock... upto a year old is fine.

                      • Guys, have been using hte Sprinta 4T 5000 for some time now and in multiple bikes. The engine heat problem didn't appear. The bikes run cooler with this oil than all other Mineral and semi synthetic oils we've used. One exception is the Mobil1 Fully Synthetic. But that is Car oil. Also, I believe the Motul 300v would have a little better heat management ability than the Petronas 5000.

Mineral oils, manufacturers mention shelf life as 3 years if stored properly.
Synthetic oils have much more shelf life.

May be it is just me but I'd suspect to buy anything over 2 years old.

Contact the distributor (or even area manager if necessary) and request them to get it, if not already in stock. Btw, I believe its 5W40 not 15W40.

                              • This time i tried differently for my P180 clocked 28K on the odo. All these years right from 10K on the odo i was using Motul and i replaced with new rings at 20K due to piston slap. The oil consumption is way beyond imagination 2000 kms 400ml left so no thin oil from now on decided to find some mineral based jaso MA2 oil but failed to find near by.
I have also have Nulon engine protectant. yesterday i purchased a brand called Total 20w50 SL grade for cars. I know the clutch may slip as its already 30K i may need to replace hence it wont harm much. Mixed with Nulon and had a nice ride for 30 mins as instructed in the Nulon. Today morning the engine is much more smoother and the famous piston slap from 50-65 Kmph is reduced almost 80%. Lets see how well it performs.
