hi ravi ,Originally posted by nightwing View PostFirstly dont go for Castrol Activ. Secondly whatever you use, make sure it's XXW40 and not XXW50 grade. For the Gladiator, XXW50 grade isnt recommended. Atleast not from my side. I tried Motul 5100 15W50 as an experiment and though it lessened out the vibrations and increased the mileage, the acceleration went down since the oil is thicker than recommended.
XXW50 grade oil would do all right in the R15 but not the Gladiator since the latter's engine runs cooler.
i am agree with your opinion.that one should stick to OEM recommanded grade of engine oil. xxW40 grade is the worth acceptable because XXw50 grade oil will be thick even at high tempratures. but can one plz suggest some good brand of oils. what effect will be on the engine & bike's overall performance if one shift to 15w40 or 10w40 grade oil.
plz reply.
also thanks to senior members to ans my previous query.

Anyone ? Please reply guys. Is the oil ok or should I change it ?Originally posted by rajshah View PostI just learnt that my mechanic put Castrol Power1 4T SAE 15w40 in my P200 while service yesterday.
Is that oil ok for a P200 ?
Or should I drain it and put the 20w50 grade oil ?

As said by Abhilash.. Dont rip the bike. Since the grade is 15w40 which you have now.It will not stick to the engine components when the engine temperature exceeds 100 degrees and it might damage your engine components. If possible change the engine oil as soon as possible.Accidents hurt - safety doesn't

This one lives 1-2 kms from my house so would be damn easy to procure from him. If he does sell the Motul products then home delivery isnt a bother, can personally go and pick it up.
Can i ask from where you got this info about distributors?
And whats the cost of Motul 5100? Its around 300 for 1 litre right and its 15W50 grade oil.Last edited by coolboy007; 11-19-2009, 04:44 PM.

300 bugs was a long time back!
1st service and your going for motul...not at all recommended my friend. Why not use the default oil by PBK MAK 20w50 is quite good till the engine run in is complete, you got a pm for further details.Originally posted by coolboy007 View PostDelhi xBhpians help please

Also, there are relatively few distributors all over Delhi, so you may not find the dealer in the place of your preference. You will have to go to the nearby shops in order to procure the product.Last edited by rohitmundra; 11-19-2009, 05:06 PM.its all about CC...

Thanks for giving the exact rate.Originally posted by rohitmundra View PostThe cost is rs.395/- a litre. yea its 15w50

1150 ml is what the bike requires. My mechanic poured in 1200 ml for oil change and the oil level shot past the middle level.
Sent a VM. If they put in the oil from drums then i know what they are putting in. Have had a bad exp with my car when i came to know the truth of those barrel oils. Carry my own engine oil ever since.1st service and your going for motul...not at all recommended my friend. Also, the mineral oil will fall short of its life before the service time arrives under hard ripping.

Even i say its too early to shift to semi-synthetic. Its better to buy Motul mineral oil 3100 4T and use it till 2nd service. U can flush twice. Once at the immediate next service and another after completing around 700 kms and then shift to motul semi synthetic during 2nd service. It costs around 190rs per litre if iam not wrong. U can use the left out oil for general lubrication like chain etc.Biking is not my Passion, it is my Religion!
