    • @ nageswar & Enfro

I have never done flushing of my engine when i went from Mineral to FS & when I came back from FS to SS.

I do not see any problem, if you can do it then yes its well & good.

Dont know if this is true, but some people use diesel for flushing

      • thanks. I am also bit confused over the thing written on Valvoline 4T Premium. It says it is "Synthetic blend". I dont think it is a FS or SS oil (as it costs 250 only).
And if its just a mineral oil then why so written?
        Any suggestion...

Do not worry much about it dude. go ahead & use it.

Although I do not have first hand exp of this oil, from what I have read here it seems a good oil.

Just make sure it is of XXW50 Grade oil to suit your P220

          Cheers

                • Took my Ninja to the service center on Saturday and switched to Motul 5100 15W50 along with a change in the oil filter as well.

The odo was reading 37xx kms and it cost me 485 bucks incl. labour (150/-) and oil filter cost (320/-).

2 Liters of oil cost me approx 750 bucks after a discount from the distributor.

The old oil looked pretty good, no traces in it, no acrid smell, slight discoloration though but it was good to change it since this is a high revving engine.

I plan to change the oil every 5k kms and the oil filter every 10k kms.

                    • I'm thinking about sifting to motul 5100 semisynthetic oil for my r15 on the next service. I've been using yamahalube semisynthetic oil for the past 1900 and the down shifts have become a bit harder.

Shall I go ahead with the motul 5100 v? even though it is a 15w50 rating oil?

The R15's manual says that the recommended oil is 20w40 or 20w50.
A good long ride can clear your mind, restore your faith, and use up a lot of fuel.

One of my friend used Motul 15W50(fully syn.) on his R15 and told engine is over heating etc. so he switched back to Yamalube semi syn. wait for other's opinion also.
Motul 10W40(semi syn.) this is the oil i am currently using in my FZ16... its a good oil.

As the company says using both xW40 and xW50 is not a problem you can go for any as per your choice.

                        • Can anyone please suggest the engine oil to be used in my Yamaha libero G5, i bought the bike from a friend, so don't have the Manual with me. Please give the engine oil specification and the quantity of oil.

and which one would be better for libero G5, Mineral oil or Semi-Synthetic, for engine smoothness?

                          Oil change interval:- 1500~2000km
                          Odometer Reading:- 22000km

I am using Motul 300V 5W40 but still find down shift an issue. Any more reviews on 300V 15W50 . I checked the flier/doc at Motul shop and it has mentioned 15W50 for R15, P220 etc. As per R15 manual specifications , Yamalube 4 Stroke motor oil(20W40 type SG) is recommended.

Then again dude, I didn't find even a single oil with 20w40 grade. Even the Yamaha service centers are pouring in yamahalube semi-synthetic for RS430 which is 15w40. I pured that oil in the first service and I've run it just 1900 km since and the downshifts have gone bad.....I've read comparatively better reviews of motul 5100v hence asking here if I could use it the next time around.

When R15 was released company recommended 20W40(which is specified in the manual) and after a period they revised the oil grade to 15W50 which may not be updated in the manual... For R15 you can blindly go for xW50... i heard Motul FS 15W50 is not that much good in R15...
There are other brand too, you can go for Valvoline FS(xW50) also which is a good oil too and cheap when compared to Motul FS...
