So finally settled down with Valvoline champ 4T. But i dont know whether its a mineral or semi synthetic. It has written as Synthetic blend but costs just rs 200.. Need clarification guys..
And also the shop keeper asked me to try mobil 1000 15w40 and its doing good with all the bikes. BTW is that a 4t oil or meant for cars? Its no where written as 4t and it had indica's pic in the label. So i dint get it..
Valvoline Champ 4T is a semi synthetic oil.

      • Impressive price for a semi synthetic. Yet to see the performance. I was about to buy mineral oil with drain period of 1500 kms max. thats why got champ and premium is 15w50.. XXw50 oil would be thick for our normal riding conditions..

          • i kinda feel that the stock "honda engine oil" by the service guys has been giving my bike a hard time.. i think ill change it.. ill go back to castroil 20w40 but i think 15w50 full sync. its better.. hows the cost? is it recommended??

these topics discussed many times here so a few pages back flip will help
will explain in short:no matter what bike and its cc oil grade depends on ambient temperature ie where u ride and how u ride

Dont compare water cooled engine with a air cooled engine ...

May be since its water cooled engine , they might have said xxW50 oil ...

Ok thanks! I hope 20w50 grade oil won't harm my bike's engine as many R15 owners here using 15w50 only.

I used to change gears at above 5k rpm except first gear dude. But still i would stick with company's recommendation. We cant always rip in heavy traffics.. Just Poured in the new oil. I can hardly find any difference. BTW the engine is already hot. Could feel the difference in fresh ride i hope.

Assuming that your grade is 20W40. I would suggest you to try:-
                              1. Agip racing 4t 5W40 (tried & tested by me. hence i would recommend this oil more than others)
                              2. Petronas 4t 5000 5W40
                              3. Shell Ultra 10W40 (i wouldnt recommend this oil. But just giving you an option)
                              4. Motul 300V 5W40 (since this oil has a few level dipping issues try 15w50).

From the above the best Full synthetic oil would be motul. The cheapest, but good full synthetic oil would be agip/petronas. The worst synthetic oil would be shell.

Even i shift in the same way .... In traffic in chennai , Bike stops , goes, goes, stops suddenly , i rip suddenly, Lot of gear shifts in a short distance ... I Drived patiently , but very embarrassed when guys in honda activa get past me so better to use a good one which keeps engine healthy rather than company recommended oils.., Of course We should follow his recommended grade ....
