    • Really?
But i read elsewhere in the forum that HH oil is bad for the engine and synthetic oil should be used just after the 1st service...

      • Petronas Sprinta 5000T Engine oil report

        wOil - Petronas Sprinta 5000T Fully Synthetic(as it claims) Rs330/-(May '10)
        Bike - HH CBZ Classic(31700kms)
        Oil Run for - 2730kms

Guys i was running on Castrol Activ before i jumped to Petronas. No probs with castrol, till then i came to know counterfeit ones are more than original ones available in the market. So got the address of petronas dealers in mumbai and rushed to Aryan lubes in Andheri behind sakinaka telephone exchange(this guy now is not a dealer anymore). So got the oil and poured it in my baby.Instant response was smoother gear shifts and silent engine. One thing i noticed was once this oil crosses 2k mark it starts to loose it viscosity and gets thin as u drive more.At 2300kms it started loosing its color to dark brown. My mechanic advised me to change the oil but i told him this damn oil is supposed to last atleast 4k.Then at 2.6k the oil started givin up.My engine used to heat up quickly on short rides and on long rides it used to stall on idling(this never happened wen i used castrol). So i decided to drain it and got Shell Advance Ultra FS Rs720/-.

When i drained the oil it was dirty dark brown and was lil bit watery
type. One thing i noticed was my bike was butter smooth even though the oil had lost its color and viscosity.Guys i really doubt whether the Sprinta 5000 is Fully Synthetic oil.I wondered how cum a company sell an FS oil jus for 330/-?? Its an SS oil for sure.Lets c the what the shell can do now.

Will keep posting as i clock the miles!!

we can switch to synthetic directly from mineral, but apart from engine run in period let the other parts of the bike to settle down, would suggest you to wait till 5000 kms on odo before switching to synthetic.

i crossed almost 7.5 kms on odo and still with mineral oil

thats my suggestion only, so if you wish you can switch to synthetic its your bike you know what it needs
Thanx for the reply Msn1. I completely agree with u, but since i'm new to the to the 4 stroke category i'm not sure wat would be the best for a 4 stroke and i wanna to give her the best. I'll go by what u'v said of adding fs at around 2-3k. Did an oil change at 500k using mineral oil, the engine feels ot better. Thanx again bro.

          Regards,

i don't think synthitic oil requires engine flush or required to move semi synthetic before FS .I have recently changed to Motul FS and results are awesome.

              1.Sounds from engine decreased.
              2.Increased smoothness.
3.Its gives good response especially in the morning right from engine start,i don't require to wait for two mins.

if you want to see decreased engine noise levels from your bike go for Motul sythetic oil + shell extra premium.

Even i had experience when i filled petrol from Indian oil, the sound increased from engine even though i have motul fs in the engine.

So petrol bunks also plays important role in how ur engine sounds & response.

Since ur bike has clocked 50k+ its better to turn to a FS oil cuz protection matters the most from wear and tear.Switch to the motul 300v FL 5w40. 20w50 is too thick for a unicorn but wont do any harm.Motul is the perfect balance for modern day bikes.

                  • For all the guys lookingfor Motul products in Mumbai.....

I found out one motul distributor near Sakinaka, Andheri.
I went there & got very good discount. I bought Motul Chain Lube for Rs.400/- (MRP Rs.480/-). Also got 5100 15W50 engine oil for Rs.400/- (MRP Rs.450/-). I am giving directions to get there as I dont have the exact postal address.

                    Avinash Enterprises
                    Saki Vihar Road.
Going from Saki Naka towards L & T, leave first right & take sacond right where steep upword sloping narrow road starts. after climbing up for a while you will find "Arihant Industrial Estate". Go in, ask for "GALA No. 34". That is the godown of Motul.

It is suggested that dont go to buy just "one DIBBA" of oil or lube. Go with multiple quantities. It will make him happier & he may give you better discounts. You can coordinate with your friends for that matter & buy produsts for all at once.

I see Motul is already suggested which suits Unicorn well. Apart from that AGIP 4T racing is my recommendation.
Castrol is OK as long as you get from genuine source. However, since there are lot of fake/adulterated products being fused into the market, would rather expect you to decide if you want to still use.

                        • where can we get Motul 20W40 in Bangalore? My Unicorn needs an oil change badly and I am not willing to move to anyone else since I am very happy with this one. Do you think Agip 4T is as good as this?

I'm not sure if Motul ever got 20w40 grade oil. Also, AGIP 4T Racing is good oil. I would not compare the oil to the roots, however, it is smooth and revs freely.

                            • Hi guys,
I have been using Valvoline 20W50 synthetic blend in my P200 for like 5K kms(twice drained). For some reason my bike does not seem that torquey. With the normal mineral oil it used to pull like mad (3rd,4th gears- 3k-7k RPMs).
I feel like clutch slippage is the issue. I dint find anybody reporting this issue with oil. Could it be true?

You are right. I think it was 15W40 that I have been using. However, I am finding it very difficult to get that oil anywhere anymore. No one seems to be stocking it.

I am wondering if the AGIP 4T is as good since I need to replace the oil and I am planning to move to synth oil anyway. The Motul used to last me about 2500 kms before requiring a change. How long does the Agip 4T normally last for?
