  • I need engine oil for my Pulsar 180-UG IV.....its about 2 years old and iam finally off wid the bajaj warranty and their stupid coconut oil for engines!!!!!!

I need something good and that can provide enough lubrication around red line gear change since most of the riding to office is on the highway.......
It even need not be that costly!!!!! but just need good protection and easy gear change

The bike has done 25,000kms and is chain lubed every weekend before the ride!!!!!! maintenance has been good and up to mark.....

Please bombard your comments regarding engine oil---recommended grade is 20w50
Suggest good brand and grade....iam in pune so you get everthing from tractor oil to jet engine oils!!!!!!!!

        • I have been using Motul 300V 15W 50 FS engine oil for my FZ. I can say its a quality product. Only thing was that I have to let the engine idle for around 30 secs, before the first ride. It had a life of approximately 5000 kms. Now I'm using Shell Advance. It's not up to the mark. I will be switching over to Motul shortly.
Motul 300V costs INR 870 in TVM.

          • hi friends well the story goes like this I was reading bike India magazine and in the second page i saw motul add and an email was also there, so sent a very sweet email which was sent by me at 2:00 in the morning, Well next day I receive some real good calls from the head like area sales person, rm, head of motul company there bosses every day for 4 days regularly to inquire if the product has reached to me or not. Then finally the sales guy all the way from Delhi came to my town to deliver this to me 1 +1 ltr. each.

Now tell me something guys I am going to use this oil in my pulsar 180 ug4 which has done 8600 km now and shall be getting it serviced in few days when I have done 10,000 km. now what i wana know is what is the interval of this oil to change or to last in the bike. As I normally change my oil at 2000 km. give me your best points and views over this and it is a serious note please I will be waiting for an update from all of u.
            thanks
            arjun

PS: also please tell me if i can use it for summers as well as winters if this oil is really a good oil then i shall continue with this oil forever. Please recommend me from your heart not your brain.
            thanks

The bottle ur holding is one of the best VFM oils in India. You can undoubtly use it both summers and winters as the oil rating is 15w50,15 being the winter grade, which is not far off from the company recomended 20.Something like 5W40 will make the bike sluggish initially. And the 50 in 15W50 is the best grade one can use for summer,as pulsars being twin spart (and short stroke),tend to run a bit hotter than than the single plugs . Hence i recommend you to change ur existing oil after service in the following way,
1.ride the bike for a enough time to get the engine hot.
2.leave the bike on the main stand for about15~20 mins.
3.drain all the exsiting oil by bending the bike a bit.
              4.Pour in the new motul 5100 15W50
5.Check the oil level every 1500kms,topup if necessary and can be used comfortably in your bike for 3000 kms. If you ride very sanely, shifting gears in the econamy band, etc you can pust the oil till 4000kms.

since you have been using mineral oil till now,i recommend you switch to the Motul 5100 15w50 SS first, use it for about 2500kms(since you want to red line, which is a good thing),then change if required to either -
1.Moto 4XT tech 10W50,the one i posted in the previous page- one of the best FS i have ver used (i used almost all the availble oils in indian market)
2.300v 15W50,again a very good oil,but i did not have a good experience with it,and also on the pricey side.
3.7100 15W50 FS,i have seen this oil in the stores and will be using it shorly
4.Castrol power1 10W50,Did not hear good coments about the previous 10W40 oil, which made the engine a bit rough, but you can give a try to the new 10W50,which i guess must have been improved as the old 10W40 did not stay in the market that long...
