I guess you used the oil only for a tour, I am looking for something that can be used to 3+ hour of rides almost 5 times a week in City and highway conditions!

    • I would recommend MOTUL5100 (15w50)semi-synthetic over and above any engine oil....Firstly, bikes like p200 and p220 need 20w50 grade.
Even with synthetic oil(motul 300v) people have faced leaking issues...i dunno for what particular reasons but many blamed oil for that.
This oil is providing me an easy drain interval of around 3500-4000kms in normal conditions and have more capacity infact.
A reasonable pricing of rs.325/-, you get a very impressive oil to go with.

Reviews about castrol racing (power) synthetic oil is not that good for bikes specially like 200,220 because of its low viscosity(10w40 or 20w40)
bike runs like butter for around 2500kms but after that oil loses its strength. But this oil may prove to be wonderful in terms of Zma, 150cc segment bike....But paying rs.800 for 2500-3000kms isn't that worth.
No offence again the castrol but my bike(p200) loves 5100
Regarding motul5100 I would suggest it to try out once....
      its all about CC...

        Yuck
Don't go for it... About 1K kms and it turns bad. How ever soft u use ur bike, even in a splendour, it doesn't last good for even 2k kms.
The TVS Tru4 should also be the same oil. It comes from BPCL and with the same specs and that's the base of my guess.

mind game or anything..... FYI: synthetic oil does not increase ur top speeds..... its just that the engine does not heat up as soon... and even at higher temperatures... the smoothness or high-revving nature of the engine remains the same. Thats what I noticed, I have been using Synthetic oil since 1 n half years now.

Motul 5100 is the best oil available in the market right now..... my brother is using it in his 180... and its worked wonders for him..... 350rs/litre is just too worth.... 300v is good too.... but is pretty costly

              • even am using 5100, after 2000kms now.. the smoothness it had initially is gone, but it's understandable.

                  UPDATE
                  -

I have been using this oil for the last 600km. The engine is still very free revving, very smooth , low vibes and slick shifts. It feels like the oil is still very new. Very little discolouration can be seen from what little oil that can be sampled from the dipstick hole.

And please dont buy this oil in any other packing. Its available in the same bottle packing as Power 1 but the bottle is gold in colour - it costs 700 per litre - its not the genuine product. Counterfeited most likely - easily available in this form in JC road. Keep away from it.

So the which packing is the genuine product?? The rounded bottle we see in the ads on the top of the forum pages?

exactly same here... but then, that is an R15 - DiASil Cyllinder, Liquid Cooled, Yamaha

That doesn't mean that the YamaLube doesn't work good for other bikes... yes, it is really good. I went around half the city to get a bottle of YamaLube when I got my Victor's engine work done but it was out of stock. settled for Motul 3000 4T then.

                      • According to a local hindi newpaper, Yamaha launched yamahalube in w40 and w50 grades and in Mineral and Semi-Synthetic option. I hope the lube is easily avaliable in market and as well as in Yamaha Service centers, especially semi-synthetic.

So far there's only one YamaLube 4T. It is 20W40 mineral oil. Earlier it used to be API SG and now it is API SJ.

But the Yamaha dealers have mentioned several times that a semi synth YamaLube is about to be launched before the year-end and may be the news you read is about that... or may be they have extended the range...

They both are car's engine oil...For more confirmation just see the rating on the bottle..It should be JASO MA grade

                              • ^^^ Sai, Mobil1 had only car engine oils. Pls check the JASO rating. I am sure it would be JASO MB - not for wet clutches.

In case it reads JASO MA or JASO MA2, please buy it for yourself and let us know too.

If you are interested in a good Mobil1 engine oil for bikes, run to a Yamaha service center and buy the YamaLube. It is made by Exxon Mobil.
