if it is written Motor Oil, it is for cars. If it is written motorcycle oil it is for bikes. Best of all, go back to the shop, look on the bottle for JASO MA or JASO MA2. If not found, forget it.

Ideally this particular column has news about products which are just launched and/or already in the market, or about to come into the market. I think the product will be available soon.

        Mobil Super 4T 10W-40, 15W-40, 15W-50, 20W-50

This is the product range for motorcycles oils in Mobil India website, the mobil dealer in Noida has a catalogue which mentions only one motorcycle engine oil that 20W40 for 180 bucks and he even confirmed with the supplier and company and told that we dont have synthetic oils for motorcycle engines in India.

I dont understand the difference in product listing in website and official catalogue available with the dealer.

Before buying any oil for motorcycles, just check whether its JASO MA or MA2 or not, If yes use the oil...

I think the Motul 300v is the best thing to happen to the Pee2x0's. Yes, there's a leakage problem with this oil. I believe there's no other XW50 fully synth oil available.

                • Petronas SPRINTA 4T 5000 Fully Synthetic

This is a result of some research I was doing about engine oils during the past few months. I was in search of a good and cost effective engine oil for our bikes and with the help of a fellow xBhpian I got in touch with Mr Rajiv Ranjan, Marketing Manager, Petronas India. A lot of discussion went through when I asked him for information about their product range, availability and pricing so that I can post the information here for everyone's benefit. Here's some info provided by Mr Rajiv -

Petronas SPRINTA 5000 Engine Oil Tech Speak
The SPRINTA 5000 engine oil was exclusively developed and manufactured using fully synthetic base oils to meet the most stringent standards. Results from a series of laboratory tests show that the 2T grade exceeds the industry standards of ISO EGD and JASO FC, while the 4T grade exceeds JASO MA and API SJ standards. PDB has also tested the product through a series of endurance tests at the Shah Alam and Catagena circuit in Spain, as well as in actual race conditions at the Pasir Gudang and Bangkok legs of the Asia Road Racing Championship.

Both 2T and 4T grades of SPRINTA 5000 provide complete engine protection for the pistons, crankshaft and cylinder liner against excessive wear and tear. The oil also contains a unique formula that gives immediate protection during engine startup ad reduces engine friction loss. This will provide ultimate power performance and prolong the life span of the engine. Users will not only experience a smooth and powerful ride but could also expect lower maintenance costs of their machines. In addition, the 4T range has properties that ensure high efficiency of the wet clutch performance. It also has excellent resistance towards oil degradation, extending the period between oil change, which in turn translates into cost savi

                      • I think PETRONAS provide only a mineral blend for 20w50 grade...disappointing for p200/220 people if the oil is worthy enough
                        its all about CC...

Yes. But have u gone through what is written on Power1 Racing can???

Here it is for you - http://castrolbiking.co.in:8080/cuse...CatId=14&val=3

It also depends on the heat management and viscosity retaining ability of the oil... not just the grade.

I'm not doubting on the quality of the oil..it's just that....there is no synthetic blend from petronas in 20w50...
and there will be much difference in mineral and synthetic one..!!

and about castrol power racing 1....many people might be using in their p200/220...but not many are coming our with a positive result just because the oil is just not made for such bikes....
and not many people would rather try to experiment with oil if it's worth 800bucks and that too the grade is 10w40 instead for 20w50... its just an opinion...
But I'll say Motul 5100 will be in best of all withing the price range and considering the grade factor
                              its all about CC...

it seems dealers now only in North and West regions. First south dealer would be in Hyd in a few months. Till then they are happy to send oil to u if u buy 16 pack carton.

We don't really know how good it is. But then at Rs330, any fully synthetic should be paisa vasool... and we are banking on Petronas's racing bikes using the same oil!
