Helmets

Re: Helmets

- I zeroed in on a Studds Shifter. However, for the past 2 days I have been looking for it at many shops in Bangalore, even Lalbagh. But I can't find one. The shopkeepers are saying that they have stopped receiving Studds helmets. I checked flipkart as well, seems Shifter has gone out of stock online too.

Studds shifter is available at Paytm. check it out.

BTW im looking for a helmet too. heard quite a lot about AXOR (sold by vega) on this thread recently.
Any idea about these models, which one is good?

AXOR FP6-D/V DULL BLACK BASE

AXOR FP6-D/V WHITE BASE SILVER GRAPHIC HELMET

AXOR J11-D/V WHITE

Re: Helmets

Hi Guys,
I am currently using LS2 FF-350 diamond. I am totally happy with it except for its ventilation. Its not that great. Anyway, its been more than 2 years since I bought it & now I am planning to buy a new helmet. My main requirements are Quality of LS2 or more & most importantly good ventilation. Budget is 4-4.5k
I bought my LS2 from Lal Bagh Road, Bangalore for ₹2,500 that time.

Well at that price you can get way better helmets than LS2 like MT AND AXR . Both these brands have better quality and good ventilation .
Always choose the right size . I think you can easily find MT in bangalore .

Re: Helmets

Thanks for the advice captain . Do you know any place in bangalore where AXR helmets are sold?

[/IMG]

Or you can ask the AXR team where to find one .

I own a AXR helmet and for me it was way more comfortable than the MT . Although both are similarly priced.

Re: Helmets

Hi Vega axor does not come with dual visor, however its another range FP-6 DV comes with dual visor, currently till 30 June they have 50% sale on this range, if you would like to buy, the sale code is IMP50, taking the price down to 50% off during checkout

http://www.vegaauto.com/Imported-Range

just wanted to help, if its useful to you. I have not used vega axor but using vega offroad, I am as such staisfied. cheers mate!

Thanks Parth,

Do you have any idea about the build quality of these Axor imported helmets?
They revised the offer to 70% off now. So really keen on getting two helmets.

Also they have 50% off on all accesories.
Any comments about the worth of their Jackets, gloves, etc at 50% off price?

----consecutive posts auto-merged-----

Finally picked up an Axor P-2 . Comes with the normal clear visor and the internal tinted visor and vents for the chin, forehead and 2 for the head. This model is not listed in the Vega website but the cost was Rs.5000/-. Got it on a 50% off offer.

Also liked these 2 models (actually preferred them) but they were too large for me.

Thanks P3T3R,

How is the experience with the Axor helmet, i also ordered it. Now am unsure, please tell about the quality and your experience for two months.

Also how is the jacket? They have 50% off on all aceesories, was thinking of getting jacket, gloves , etc.
Can you recommend some vega gear if its worth at those prices??

Re: Helmets

Hi everyone. Recently bought 2 studds shifter helmet for me and my dad. Budget was 5k in total. Are they worth the money? Any tips on how to preserve the visors transparency? Also, the helmet fits tight though the head size is measured and corresponding size was chosen before purchase. Do helmets take time to adjust to our face? Is it normal?

What size did you buy and how did you size it?

How safe are full faced offroad/motocross helmets (like below) when compared to regular full faced helmets?OFF ROAD D/V RANGER BLACK BASE WITH GOLD GRAPHIC HELMET

I am looking for a stylishly designed along with safety, regular helmets looked a bit boring in terms of shape/design or too flashy in terms of graphics.

And what about comfort when both are compared?

This is a very poorly made product and very flimsy construction. It is popular for exactly the reasons you have stated and purchased by people who are more concerned with their looks than their safety. There are many better quality helmets made in India for your protection. In fact while I don't recommend it, even Studds version of the MotoCross is much better made.

fakes are a part of every product, right from Louis Vuitton to apple iphones, and now to helmets such as LS2 AGV and even riding gear from Alpinestars and other brands, but that doesnt stop a prospective buyer from buying a particular brand,to sum it up mostly products which are commercially successful have duplication at a faster rate, its better to buy from representatives of a particular company directly and one is assured of genuine stuff.LS2 helmets have been in the market since a long time hence their duplication is the max when it comes to other brands,i won`t be surprised to see a duplicate MT helmet in the near future as its popularity is growing. But that wont stop us from buying MT right?

There are many ways to control fakes and it begins with distribution. Even today there is no clarity with pricing of LS2 and its distribution network, hence the proliferation of fakes. MT distribution is very tightly controlled and hence very difficult for fakes to enter. Recently AutoQueen from Cochin bought a small quantity and started selling MT's purchased illegally from TamilNadu without VAT. The distribution company immediately stepped in to plug the leak by terminating the erring TN dealer and declining warranty support on the units sold by AutoQueen. Mind you these are genuine helmets but the parent company has still intervened.

I am going to get my bike(Duke 200) delivered tomorrow. I have been trying to find a good helmet in budget - I zeroed in on a Studds Shifter. However, for the past 2 days I have been looking for it at many shops in Bangalore, even Lalbagh. But I can't find one. The shopkeepers are saying that they have stopped receiving Studds helmets. I checked flipkart as well, seems Shifter has gone out of stock online too. Does anybody know where can I get a Studds Shifter helmet in Bangalore?

TIA

The imposition of helmets rule from July 1st in TN has caused the neighbouring states supply to dry up. You may have to wait a while till supply stabilzes. This is a decent helmet though for the money.

Well studds helmets are really good and there is nothing wrong in choosing one . I have used 2 of their models and trust me am still alive because of these helmets . But if can't find one why don't your try the AXR helmets , it's a new one on the market ( Indian brand ) .
It's only 4000 and has the same safety features of the MT , more comfortable too .

Sent from my SM-N750 using Tapatalk

How do you know that AXR has the same safety features? Are you aware that AXR is locally assembled in Karnataka by a company that assembles components imported from China? I have an AXR in the office and while it is decently put together, the helmet at the end of the day has not passed any testing authority after assembly. The DOT or ECE label is just that - a international certification label printed in Karnataka without any test certificates. Recently they have started copying popular graphics of other models like SOL's MetalMan graphic. A company that does not hesitate in copying copyrighted graphics of another company makes me doubt their overall integrity.

Again, your comparison is sweeping. You have compared AXR's top of the line touring model with MT's entry level street model. Try comparing with the MT Blade and see the difference.

Despite their claims, AXOR is NOT made in Italy or even remotely Italian - unless you consider Belgaum to be part of Italy. Their website is registered in Belgaum and is owned by Vega, who imports the components and assembles the helmet in India. The P6 was a commercial failure, while the A2 is very popular, hence the heavy discounts to get rid of stock. Incidentally, the street price of the P6 is Rs.3200/- and not Rs.5000/-.

L(580mm). Usual measurement using tape around head, above eyebrows and ear.. Btw, the helmet now has become more comfortable but it is little difficult to remove.

I never knew that sir , but mine is a base model and I did try them both the MT AND AXR , the AXR was better in terms of comfort . so your saying that AXR has no safety standards and are all made in China .

Re: Helmets

Hello dear Riders, I recently acquired a Bullet Classic 350. Need a good quality Helmet, one which is not a fake replica. The City where Im based in, doesnt have quality Rider Gear shops, so will have to depend on an online buy.

We have a Royal Enfield showroom which has some accessories but I dont know how good/bad the gear is!

I could spend upto 5k on a helmet.

Dear Captain,

The base AXR is Rs.3000/- and the premium version is around Rs.3800/-. So when you said you paid Rs.4000/-, I assumed you had the premium version. Also from your picture it looks so. The entry level MT AXXIS is Rs.4150/-, and you said it was at a similar price hence the comparison. The AXXIS is an aggressive race fit with a tapered jaw and not to everyone's taste, while the Blade is a rounded, padded touring helmet priced at Rs. 5650/-. Hence my comment on your inaccurate comparison.

The AXR helmets are made by the erstwhile Ryder Helmets from Belgaum and I had the opportunity to get my hands on an early piece from them. I also had an opportunity to discuss the models and production with the owner of the company. They are importing components from China to keep import duty down and assembling in their plant. The ECE certification happens after manufacture which means that the finished helmets need to be tested and that is not possible in India.

However, don't fret. The helmets are sturdy compared to other Indian helmets and at that price point you should be quite safe. They are however, quite heavy IMO. Also if you look at their Facebook page, they are advertising the MetalMan graphic which is a copyright design violation of the SOL MetalMan. If they are ready to blatantly violate somebody else's property, that does not speak well of them, no? What do you think?

Cheers!

Re: Helmets

You can buy the Shifter. Its a very good brain bucket imho. Strangely gets totally ignored in the midst of numerous foreign brands which no doubt are exceptional in quality. Studds have really upped their quality standards of late and unless one is into riding at mach level speeds, it would protect the head just fine.

The Studds Scorpion is a grade above the Shifter, so you would in effect be down-grading, though both are decent helmets. I would advise staying away from the P6 as its commercial future is doubtful and spares might become an issue. The A2 might be a better idea.

Anyone bought a spare Kranos visor? Do they have tinted/mercury finish visor?
