Re: Helmets
Please advise me between vega axor & vega gangster motocross . My needs are the helmet shall not create stability problems while cruising at 80-90kph as I am 70% highway rider & my ride is an abs apache. Please note that it must not look too bulky on me as I am lean.
Thanks in advance.Last edited by Devil99; 03-06-2016, 03:07 PM.

Re: Helmets confusion
I am using MT Revenge replica GP from last one year and almost 13k kms. No issues so far, I am using iridium visor with this. Changing of visor is breeze, If you find right size, the weight of helmet is almost vanished from your head. It does whistle after 90kmph but not that annoying, ear buds will solve that problem. When I bought it comes with ratchet lock not double d rings. (Mine was from first batch of MT when it is introduced). By graphics it sure is eye candy and I think it is best looking helmet in that price range. (Of course When SOL Unicorn and SOL Metal man are not in picture, they looks just amazing). SOL helmets are famous for being heavy, but it comes with double d rings.Originally posted by vinay21987 View PostLooking to buy a new helmet. Have picked out two of them. Need to make a decision. Should I go for MT Revenge replica gp or should I go for Sol Unicorn 68S II. Have attached pic of both. Also does both of them have internal visor as I do use it frequently during my city travel.
Go ahead and buy revenge if you liked it, I can vouch for it. It has DOT, ECE and Sharp 5star ratings.

Can anyone suggest good earbuds? I badly need a pair because of the wind noise at high speeds. I was thinking to buy them from AliExpress. Should i use foam type or silicon based?Never ride faster than your guardian angel can fly.

Re: Helmets confusion
Hi, thanks for the advice. I liked the graphics of Revenge GP edition. Tried it out but was feeling very uncomfortable in it. Tried Sol unicorn and was happy with it. Have booked Sol Unicorn. Waiting for its delivery which should happen by end of this week. Cheers bro!!Originally posted by Aniruddha Shinde View PostI am using MT Revenge replica GP from last one year and almost 13k kms. The tinted visor is nice but strictly for day time use. Its quite effective against sun and that's the very reason you shouldn't use it @ night.Originally posted by vinay21987 View PostThanks man. Re: Helmets confusion
Yeah the LS2 ff310 is the one which comes with inbuilt Bluetooth. There is a moto vlogger called Mumbiker Nikhil on YouTube he has uploaded a video review of this helmet. Hope it helps!Originally posted by prathjazz View PostThe tinted visor is nice but strictly for day time use. Its quite effective against sun and that's the very reason you shouldn't use it @ night.

Re: Helmets
You can try MT blade series, they came with internal sunvisor, scratch protected visors, nice shape and ofcourse they are DOT and ECE certified. I had a LS2 FF384 and MT is comfortable and inner liners are very good.Originally posted by IronWing View PostHey everyone!
I need help with purchasing my next helmet. I am currently using a Vega Cliff. It's my first helmet and has been with me for more than 2 years. i wish to upgrade to a better helmet which will be more comfortable on longer rides.
My budget is 3k to 5k max, only if the helmet is worth it. (you know what i mean.)
Recently, i went to a two stores near the Andheri East flyover, before the turn at Landmark, the Vega Helmet store and the one after it run by a man called Kantibhai.
i received contradicting news which has confused me so i am looking for clarity from you knowledgeable folk.
The Vega Store kept helmets from LS2 too but now the prices have been increased to 5500 for the new stock that has come in. i just glanced at the models and left.
I visited Kantibhai's store next, three shops away. he had a few LS2 models but he was more keen and had quite a stock of THH helmets. here;s what Kantibhai told me:
1. LS2 helmets are not DOT or ISI certified and the pieces being sold earlier in 2.5k or the range of it were cheap replicas.
2. THH helmets has re-entered the market with ISI certification in conjunction to its DOT certification. the older lot of helmets from THH only bear the DOT certification graphic but the newer ones have an ISI mark Sticker on them. he said that the company has undertaken the necessary steps to obtain the certification to become legal for sale in India.
I tried on a THH helmet, i can't recall the model number but it has a matte graphic finish with the Pilot design. the fit was great and the helmet wasn't too heavy either.
it came with a metal buckle fastener and they don't have micrometric fateners, i was told by Kantibhai.
however, the news of LS2 not having Certification spooked me a bit and i have spent a couple days scouring the internet and our forums for relevant and credible information.
Please help me out here guys. i do not want to make an error in purchasing something that is very important in protecting my life and giving me a great time.
Also, could some one tell me where i could see/try/buy MT helmets, SOL helmets and the like for a budget of 5k max?
Oh, and also decent gloves for long rides. up to 1000 budget for those.
thanks in advance for all your help!Regards
Saikat

How to Pick a Helmet ?
Hello Guys,
I see most of you are upgrading your helmets and am happy to see that.
I want to mention few points which might be useful/ helpful for new buyers or for the people who are planning to upgrade to a better helmet
How do you pick a helmet? What parameters do you need to consider before choosing one ?
1) SHARP Rating, SNELL, DOT, ECE, ISI 2) Material 3) Sizing 4) Weight 5) Features 6) Availability of spares 7) Cost
Yes i do want to consider Cost at the END because we are talking of a thing which will protect our head which cannot be replaced.
SHARP Rating, SNELL, DOT, ECE, ISI:
DOT: Standards determined by the U.S. Department of Transportation. The DOT rating currently in effect is federal standard FMVSS 218, and any helmet with the DOT sticker should meet these standards.
ECE: Standards determined by the Economic Commission for Europe. This multinational standard is used by more than 50 countries in Europe, and any helmet with this sticker must meet the current ECE 22.05 standard.
SNELL: Standards determined by the Snell Memorial Foundation. This is a voluntary testing procedure, and is only required by certain race bodies. The current standard is SNELL M2015 for street-use helmets, and SA2015 for race-use helmets.
ISI: Its is an Indian Standard Institute which is a regulatory body for certifying a helmet which is made in India. The standards are pretty low compared to DOT, ECE,SNELL, SHARP.
SHARP is a safety helmet assessment and rating programme. It is as similar to NCAP where they test new cars for safety standards. SHARP has some testing standards where they put each and every helmet model under their tests and give ratings based on that. If you happen to see any AGV or other big brand helmet they have a SHARP rating label on their visor (new helmets).
They run around 32 impact tests before giving ratings and each test is unique testing different parameters. You can read more over here ( SHARP Helmets - SHARP Testing MT Blade has 3/5 Ratings and MT Matrix has 5/5 Rating , Airoh Speed fire has 4/5 Rating, Lazer Bayamo has 4/5 rating. It doesn't mean that a SHOEI helmet which has 4/5 rating doesn't protect well than MT Matrix which has 5/5. Its is where MATERIAL comes into picture.
MATERIAL:SIZING :WEIGHT:
The weight of a helmet depends on the type of material being used in the construction of helmet. Most of the Polycarbonate helmets weigh around 1.5Kg which is pretty heavy and this weight make take a toll on the neck if the rider is wearing the helmet for a long time. And if you are fitting a action camera or a Bluetooth device onto your helmet it will increase the weight even more. My take will be a helmet with less weight and advance material.
FEATURES:
What i meant by features are an Internal sun visor, pin lock support, groves for placing Bluetooth speakers, mic , Proper Ventilation ports. These are not very useful but are of a great advantage if available.
AVAILABILITY OF SPARES:
I feel that this is very important as during the long run visor might have to be changed if it gets scratched and also the internal liners will deteriorate on heavy usage. So is the reason i feel availability of spares is very important while selecting a helmet.

Re: Helmets
I am looking forward to buy a new helmet for weekend long rides. Due to size issues, i can't buy a helmet online, I visited a few helmet/riding gear shops and shortlisted these 3 options:
1. THH helmet (can't recall model name) @ 3300/-
loved: Feels really good, value for money
hated: overdone graphics, lack of trust in this brand
2. kranos imola @ 5000 (available online at 4250/- shipped)
loved: looks and graphics, dual certification
hated: back side doesn't cover head that well.

image source Moto Gear Advisor - Quality Motorcycle Gear Reviews
3. Studds shifter @ under 3000
loved: availability of replacement visors (will be able to use it everyday, not just on long rides), cheap, internal visor.
hated: ISI standard.
optional:
buy vega axor online @ 2600/- (i currently use a medium size (58cm) vega trojan so i can confidently buy this online)
found MT and LS2 helmets but they were priced above my budget.
Any suggestions? There is no destination, I just want to keep riding.

Re: Helmets
If you have the manuals of the helmet do check them out for warranty. But i don't think they provide warranty for padding !Originally posted by SpeedyKol View PostSmall 'cracks' are appearing on the padding of MT helmet.
