Exactly, even I've come across a few negative reviews. Basically it's a VFM and I stress that, VFM money helmet, in that being out with sick graphics is a major attention grabber for youths (of course I am a youth ) and that's where SOL's sweet spot lies. Wind noise and headache after wearing the helmet is a complaint I hear from SOL helmets. But wind noise it may be due to the vents working overtime I guess

That being said, for a DOT certified, cool graphic, with oodles of vents and flashy LEDs and priced at 4.5 to 5k I'd say one of the VFM money helmets out there.

    Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

    THE END

Life is about trade offs man!! The slightly increased wind nows is a trade off for the much increased ventilation.Atleast in the Metalman series. Can't comment on other SOL helmets as I have not tried them.
regarding wind noise. It does not reach bothering levels at all. only that you start noticing it at around 80-100 band. Not much. After that, yes, but never does it reach annoying levels enough to slow down or feel uncomfortable.
I have tried @Calvin's sparx lid and yes it was better in the noise performance department but not by a huge factor.
The lid fits snugly, is stable at speeds ,has killer graphics and comes with DOT certification at around 5000. It's good Is say.
If you end up buying the metalman, be careful with the overhead plastic structure which holds the ventilation ducts. It's a bit flimsy and can crack if you happen to drop the helmet from considerable height.
Mine has not cracked, but has become a little less secure after I dropped it.But this too, as pointed out by sunnyside_up, probably a design feature

In SOL Acme series you can open/close air vents, if its an option in Metal man then close all and open only needed ones if wind noise is unbearable.

Thanks for clearing that out mate. I'm not in for a purchase any time soon, i bought a LS2 phobia about 5 months back and am happy with it. But just heard about wind noise bothering people at another forum and wanted to know about it dfrom other users, even in ls2 wind noise creeps in post 80kmph. So its both the same i guess, but ventilation is very poor or none at all and fogging up of visor is a problem in ls2, the solution to which i found is cracking open the visor a wee bit , that solves the problem,
any fogging issues in SOL ?

          Cheers Mate

LS2 base models are supposed to be in 2.5-2.8 range. Dunno why others are quoting higher price.
Anyways, if their pricing is out of reach then i suggest Studds Helmet, its great make and nice to use too. I owned a Studds Ninja for 2 years, without any issues, and other models of studds are also available in price lesser than 2.5k itself. Do check it out and decide.

              Cheers mate

4k is sky-high priced.LS2 Supra(with air pump) retail for 3.2k outside & it can be lowered to even 3k if bargained & phobia & other models retail for 2.5k, this on the rock site is doing daylight robbery...

This is one area, which I feel, the SOL metalman has covered. The visor never fogs up or very little if it does. The breath deflector is huge and does its job well. Even during the frequent monsoon rides here, I would say it performed rather well. That little amount of fog does build up there but doesn't hamper much. Visibility does decrease but that's mostly due to the water and muck at the outside of the visor.
Keep in mind that I assume you don't pant while riding or that your lung capacity does not rival that of Hulk

A bit off topic, but the SOL visor is very good IMO. Great visibility and when cleaned well, you won't realize that it's there after riding for a while

Well, i dont pant while riding, nor as big as hulk
Its just that the ls2 breath deflectors are not that efficient, it fogs up quite a bit , and makes the road pretty much unclear, for water forming outside , i keep a small piece of cloth(only for cleaning) in my pocket, and wipe with it whenever it gets too much. Thus that problem is solved.
