You got company Nithesh. I just got the same helmet in Orange/Black from Spartan Progear in Chennai to go with my KTM Duke, great stuff. Now I have to get used to it as I have never used a full-faced helmet before. With all the intake and extractor vents (18 of them I take it) I don't forsee any problem, plus I just love the optically-corrected visor with its multiple (6 positions I think) positioning feature.

When light passes through any transparent/semi transparent medium, there will always be diffraction(and or refraction) of the light waves/photons (wave theory or particle theory, whatever floats your boat). As such all glasses/magnifying lenses or visors (in this case) will have to deal with this problem. The idea is to design the visor in such a way that the light waves are not distorted when they reach your eye. If the design is very bad, you could see the objects in a size much larger/smaller than they actually are. This could also mean that you will have to keep re-focusing if there are abnormalities on the visor surface. When this happens on the surface of your eye, it is called myopia or hypermetropia (long sightedness and short sightedness) and you seek a doctor's advice to get glasses. These glasses based on the prescription actually refocus the light to correct for the distortion/loss of focus your eye is experiencing. But a visor is not a replacement for your glasses, but it would be a terrific idea to make visors with a +/- distortion for people with sight issues , but that's a topic for another day. So, the idea is to have a visor that does not refocus or distort your vision and that's what being optically correct means.Originally posted by Horror View PostCould somebody explain to me what an optically corrected visor is??
In plain layman's terms, this simply means a crystal clear vision, which makes you keep wondering if your visor is closed or open when you don't feel the wind in your face.Last edited by sayhi2sai; 11-17-2012, 02:51 AM.

The girl said, 'NO!'

Complete OT :Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostNice write up. But point of the fact is you could have just stated end point I highlighted above.
I very well could have, but the fact of the matter is, I'd rather be known as a person who is worth his salt. People like numbers, facts and scientific explanations and for the very same reason, I have given the logical explanation of what, why and how of the question asked. When I am responding to a question, I would like to address the question holistically, so the thread doesn't turn into an endless barrage of Q & A session. My guess is, he could have very well googled "optical correction" and understood that optically corrected visors are better, but the following question would have been, why and what are the advantages. Besides, it was fun recalling what I learnt in school 10 years ago.
Let's not turn this into OT now, cheers!

Completely agree. Besides a little bit of knowledge sharing isn't that bad.Originally posted by sayhi2sai View PostComplete OT :

Now coming to comparo. LS2 and SOL are completely different, though the stuff remains the same. SOL is preferred by most of them by their graphics, really cool graphics. SOL ranges start from 3.8K all the way up to 6k~ while the LS2 is a practical stuff, it's like "been there done that" kinda stuff. Yes, SOL helmets are dearer by 1 to 2.5k compared to LS2 depending on the model you opt from SOL.
If you like the LS2, go for LS2, else go for SOL.
Cheers!

Does the price remain the same as in the other shops(Velavan motors).Bcoz when i enquired the same in Pioneer scooter centre,GP road it is 3.1k.And it doesnt have DOT or ECE certification in it.Whether we have to check it before buying to distinguish between fake and original?

That is the problem with LS2, you have different dealers quoting different prices. Did you see the back of the helmet? Still then if it isn't there, then I'd suggest you to refrain from purchasing the helmet there. Look around for other options, stick to which gives you the better deal, provided of course the stuff is genuine.Originally posted by pgaucha View PostDoes the price remain the same as in the other shops(Velavan motors).Bcoz when i enquired the same in Pioneer scooter centre,GP road it is 3.1k.And it doesnt have DOT or ECE certification in it.Whether we have to check it before buying to distinguish between fake and original?

Sirji, Dilli mein poori bike hi gayab ho jaayegi, helmet lock kya hai?Originally posted by prateek2210 View Post@DeVille : Come to Delhi, I will teach you how to open these things without key/combination

Yes, 1st option is to carry the lid with oneself but sometimes it becomes a convenience issue- like when loitering around in malls and all. Also, secured parking spaces inspire a degree of confidence, so it's fine to an extentOriginally posted by prateek2210 View PostHehehehe the reason I said so, if I can break those, imagine what those experienced thieves can do. Honestly, I prefer not to keep our helmets in open due to various reason, first being stealing, then in open we dont know what all has entered into it etc etc
My query was which cable specifically- the combination lock or key one?Originally posted by B7ACKTHORN View PostCable would be good idea (still convulsing from Prateek's answer to your question
) All that said and done, fiber clamps can be removed along with the helmet with just a spanner and screw driver, at least cable is a bit safe, provided they are good quality.
