Get a transparent visor for your lid and then use a pair of sunglasses!

u can opt for clear visor for night riding and mercury tinted visor for the day rides and you can switch the visors, it is a very easy job
the ls2 visors costs around 400rs
Thanks for the reply, yes i guess i will go for interchangeable visors cause the end result riding with a mercury tinted visor still wont give a clear visibility in the night!

thanks for the reply, thats a great way actully, but looking only for visors right now, will probably try a mercury tinted one and will see how that works in the night rides or else will go for interchangeable.

First off, congrats on joining an excellent forum like xBhp. I'd suggest go for LS2, with all three visors if you really have a necessity. Any tinted, be in any tinted visor, be it chrome, blue, black aren't meant to be used at night, these are strictly meant to be used for daylight where there is ample sunlight. The clear visors are meant for both day and night.

You may have see in India, a couple of hotshots where you find people wearing Ray-Ban in their luxury cars at peak traffic at night, which is nothing but a show-off and leads to unnecessary incidents. Though they try to look cool, but ultimately it's not the right attitude. Imagine if you do the same on your bike!! It's disaster waiting to happen.

Get yourself any visor you need, but use it appropriately.

          Cheers!

I just got myself a mrecury tinted visor for my LS2. I was looking for clear one for the last 1 month but there is shortage of clear visor in market so got a tinted for the time being. The tinted visor is managebale during nite riding if and only if you have street lights, its of no use in total dark (unless you have strong headlights to support you).

Clear visor is always better. You can always use sunglasses in day and obviously you have a clear vision in night.

Hello everybody , I live in Kolkata and today i went to Wellington looking for this vega full visor off-road helmet but found vega off-road helmet with sun-glass type visors like in here http://www.vegaauto.com/pdisplay.asp...'&catchid='122' . but am looking for full visor offroad helmet. I'm getting only local ones with full visor quoting about Rs1050. Whereas the Vega was about Rs 1700.

the probiker gloves were around REs 400-600. I guess that is pretty cheap.

I have attached the picture of the helmet i'm looking for.

Suggest you go for a full face ones than the off-road ones. Save some more and get yourself a good helmet, along with good gloves.

                • guys went yesterday to pro bikers on mg road, tried clear screen visor, pure black one and an mercury tinted one on diffrent helmets from diffrent brands.
clear screen- found it the best for the night time as always your visibility is 100%
pure black- absolutely no for night, as there are ample street lights on mg road but still could only see front vehicles brake lights.so it does block a lot of light vision.
mercury tinted- i thought this visor was suitable for night as well, cause visibility was almost clear in the night(though not recommended for night use strictly), but still gotta try this one in the noon to see how much sunlight it actually blocks.but if i may quote sid85 above " The tinted visor is managebale during nite riding if and only if you have street lights, its of no use in total dark (unless you have strong headlights to support you)"
so i guess i will go for an mercury tinted visor and see how that works out.

Totally agree with BLACKTHORN on this. This is NOT a good helmet - just looks funky that's all. Please see my post a few pages back. Lots of better options in Vega or any other brand.

Buddy - No manufacturer on earth recommends tinted or iridium/mercury visors at night because they cut out sufficient light to be dangerous. Do you honestly think that your little experiment is a pioneering effort? This forum is full of riders who have already tried out what you are proposing and know that you are trying is a no go. I myself have tried it about 20 years ago. Please learn free from the collective wisdom of hundreds of veteran bikers rather than paying for it with your skin.

The correct way to achieve what you want is to swap visors, or wear a pair of sunglasses inside the clear visor ( which by the way is also NOT recommended by crash experts but definitely safer than what you are trying ). Alternatively, use the coated/tinted visor in the day and use a pair of clear glasses at night with the visor up.

You are playing with your life and that is your prerogative but kindly refrain from posting ideas that are at best dangerous and could mislead newbies who might read your post.

hey thanks for the reply, i guess there was a mislead when i wrote that mercury tint can be tried out in the night, but searching through the forums and expert advice from members i have finally settled for a helmet with interchangeable visors(pure black tint and a clear glass ),because mercury tinted are actually not meant for night,i get that and . and dully noted that experience on xbhp. previous post edited.

If you are more interested towards tinted visors, you can go for the helmets with clear exterior visor and tinted internal visor. Some examples are Vega Boolean, Studds Ninja 3G, Daijya, Nuvo, SOL...Boolean and Ninja are the flip ups ranging around 1800 bucks, Daijya is for Rs.4850, Nuvo is for Rs.6000 and SOL somewhere between Rs. 3500 - 4500. In these helmets, you get an internal visor(tinted) which can be used as sunglasses during day rides.

But again flip ups are not recommended since the movable part tends to harm your face during a crash. I was using Boolean and last year during a crash the movable cover cut my lips below the nose. So if you can afford go for Daijya....

sad to hear about your unfortunate incident, hope you are fine now. i know the helmets the ones you are talking about, from my personal point of view they were not comfotable while riding and anywayz im now more tilted on getting an changeable visors for now cause i intend to ride in the noon for purpose and in the nights for touring to nearby places. thanks for the reply will soon update which helmet i buy(probably will be an ls2 cause budget is tight).

Thanx for the concern buddy...that accident was 1 year back. Am absolutely fine. Best of luck with your buy. Yeah, you can go for LS2 and buy a spare clear visor so that you can interchange accordingly.

                              • Hi All, I have a white Fazer and I'm going to buy a white LS2, found this pic on the net, but it seems this isn't available in India. Getting a good deal at Rs.2800 from a dealer, which is the lowest price I've found yet. Though the dealer is a certified dealer of Vega helmets,I'm not sure about him and don't wanna end up buying a fake. So can u please show me some pics with the embossed safety rating and the stitched marking on a genuine LS2. Thanks in advance.
