I bought an SOL Metal Man (Orange/Black) a few weeks back to go with my KTM. I was a bit apprehensive about wearing a full-face helmet as I have never worn one before, besides I wear glasses. I can't give you a long-term review for obvioius reasons. I wore it for the first time last weekend when I took a ride to my sister's, it involved a bit of city riding and a some highway riding. Being a weekend and considering the ride was in the morning there wasn't a whole lot of traffic. Anyway all my apprehsions were proven to be out of place as there was plenty of air coming through the intake vents and going out through the extactor vents. I think there are some 16-18 vents altogether incorporated into the helmet. If that isn't enough one can always crack open the visor a notch or two. The optically corrected visor is a pleasure to have on and it gives you good peripheral vision also. The helmet seems to be of excellent quality and good finish and as you know it is DOT approved and reasonably priced. Since then I have used it several times and find the helmet a pleasure to wear. Since I ususally don't ride in heavy city traffic, I can not comment on how it will perform in such situations, perhaps some one with experience in this regard would come to your rescue. For touring this helmet should stand you in good stead is what I think. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Nice review, Mohan. Fact of the matter is, this helmet has been reviewed too many times. But it's always good to see new reviews pop up. Keep it coming.

I'd suggest you for for AIROH or LS2 FF 386. The AIROH is just an excellent VFM considering the discount Bachoo folks are offering. I'd strongly recommend AIROH just for the discount offered pluse the Eetalian Herithage.

Thanks for reply Vijay & Krish.. Yupp Airoh seems VFM and has all the features i require in the perfect price. But i am tempted for the Nolan N63 Casey stoner replica, which is just above the price of Airoh, doesnt has features i want, and i have never checked it personally. (Rode to PlanetDSG, Pune to check it out one sunday, and found its closed on sundays ) The problem is, there are no genuine reviews of both the helmets. Not only on xbhp, but anywhere on internet. May pick up the Airoh then..

You have good AIROH reviews, but you are right, though they just review the helmet blandy, there isn't any effort made from the user to review it personally. But that being said, AIROH is an excellent helmet. Do let us know what you're planning to zero in on!

Hey guys,
Have had an Airoh GP500 Drive Black for about 4 months now. Dont have the photographs on me, and am out of town for a bit.
I wasnt actually planning on buying the GP500, i had my sights on the Metal Man from SOL. As luck would have it, ended up at Bachoo with a friend to "take a look". i hadnt even budgeted for the GP500. Anyways, got to the store, looked at the more affordable range and then Zulfi at Bachoo motors sad that they had recd some stock of GP500. Always wanted to know what made them so expensive. He took out the Drive Black helmet with the box. It looked absolutely bland on the cover, that was until he opened the box and took the piece out. He too was a bit perplexed with the product because unlike the cover, all the chequered areas on the helmet had a dual paint scheme. It appeared green on some angles and purple at other angles. i was already sold to owning one, only hassle was the budget. Worked that out by the evening and bought the GP500 home. Had to tell my wife it cost just 8000, otherwise the helmet and i would have spent the night with the bike in the Garage
As for reviews. The helmet is bloody light, feels very snug on my head, as a helmet should. Vents do a good job of keeping you cool when on the move, but come to a standstill in Mumbai, given the humidity and heat in summers, u do get a complimentary Sauna. In pune though its a lot more bearable.
As for what makes it so expensive, well honestly, i dont know. Its light, its got some cool features such as the SQRC code stickers, which give you the option of recording some important info, such as who to contact in the event of an accident, blood group etc, and can be accessed by anyone with a smart phone running a QR Code app. Its got emergency Cheek pad removal option, so that in an accident, one doesnt have the yank the helmet off, just pull the tabs as the cheekpads come off, making it easier to remove the helmet, i am sure it would help in the event of a spine/head injury. Lastly the Visor, its thicker than most of the other helmets available. It come with a pinlock arrangement to mount an antifog screen on the inside and this really works, Riding in the last monsoon, i never had the inside of the helmet fogging up even once, irrespective of whether i was stopped at a signal or on the move. And provisions of fitting tear off screens on the fron t of the visor(usually used on dirt tracks), but helps when on the highway run, u dont have to stop and wipe your visor, risking scratching the surface..
Cons - nothing really, except that after spending a bomb on these helmets, u expect the wind noise to be negligible if not absent. But, that is not so, at speeds it gets a bit noisy inside. A fix with earplugs helps.
On the whole i am quite happy with the buy, though i never thought i would own one of these helmets...

Welcome to the party mate. First off, kudos on purchasing their top of the line. If you could post the pictures, that would be highly appreciated. Oh and I forgot to mention, even I own a GP500

Hi all, first post in this thread.
Got myself an LS2 Phobia (FF 350) yesterday. Cost me 2750 bucks with the invoice. Now, this adds to my city ride collection. Bought a SOL metal man (red) for touring purposes some 2 months ago.

Must say, the helmet is light at 1300 gms. My ex helmet was a Steelbird SB28 and it was heavy @3 kilos! But Steelbird SB28 is a VFM helmet. Superb buy at 1700 man.... 6 air vents for inlet and 2 exhausts... lolz... Well, seems like I'm posting a review for the SB28....
Anyways, they've stopped the model now and my month long hunt for a clean visor failed miserably. Hence, bought a new helmet instead... Shall keep hunting for my bird's visor.
Now, coming to LS2 - pretty light, snug fit and comfy.
Went on a late night run to Tumkur and took my bike to 90ish speeds. Wind noise was considerably low. But the wind noise increases at WOT.
Anyways, me not doing 100s and beyond in city and so the LS2 shall suffice.

I am out to buy a new helmet. Moolah got by me is Rs.2000.

I could stretch it a little bit. But thats how far i can go for personal reasons. I cant buy a SOL which seems very good VFM.

So for around 2k i know of Vega Boolean only. Do i have any other options. But its a flip which i dont like much.

Is the Boolean a good enough helmet? Looked sturdy enough to me but i tour short distances outside the city so having second thoughts
about it coz of the flip.

So the question here is whether i should go for the Boolean or stretch a little and go fro the LS2.

I want to buy the better one coz cost difference ain't much. So help me out guys.

Skewed one? That one got me real bad Most helmets do come with optically correct visors, some-times it's just a sales gimmick just to use optically corrected visors to their portfolio. That being said, not all of them are true optically corrected visors, lots of helmets out there still do have plain visors, or tinted locally made etc.

Optically corrected is nothing but the same feel when you feel seeing with your plain eyes and with the visor down, both more or less feels the same, so some say, I just didn't feel there was a visor in front of me. LS2 do offer optically corrected visor. I felt the same thing with wearing a tinted visor for my RJays, and the clear one is just fantastic

But that said, you can just test this in the shop by wearing and seeing the difference. It's pretty simple.

Why no helmet with bluetooth ?

Why is there no helmet available with a bluetooth speaker-mic combo so that riders can take calls without stopping ? If its ok for car drivers to take calls while driving on their car audio system, why cant bike riders do the same ?

And bluetooth is so ubiquitous nowadays. I am sure its technically quite easy to do. And price should not be a bother as we pay decent amounts for premium helmets
So all helmet manufacturers - where are the bluetooth options ?
