Dual visor make noise at high speed in LS2 Helmets, because extra airflow comes from dual visor mechanism switch at sides of helemet..... i am using LS2 FF396 CT2. it is with dual visor. It makes a turbulance noise after speed of 100 Kmph. If i try to close the dual visor switch with hand or tape the turbulance noise is less. Using earplugs while touring is best option i found.

BTW apart from SOL, try TIH helmets too. They are good. In economy level too.

They recently made their way into the Indian market. I think I'm among the few guys in my place, may be the whole KL, to own one. I bought this one because I liked it better than LS2 in its range and it has dual visors.

Wind noises are there on every helmet when you are cruising in upright position after a certain speed limit. I tried crouching ad this noise was almost non-existent with my helmet. What you need to look out for, though, is for the whistling sounds like what VJ said. These whistles can make you lose your sanity at high speeds.

Whatever you buy make sure you are comfortable wearing it and it's not a bucket on your head.

How much did the LS2 FF396 CT2 cost you. On the website it says it has a carbon fibre shell.

Most helmets go crazy just by opening the visor, and you need not do much to do create the uneven air flow over the helmet that cause the noise. Visor (internal) in or without visor is gonna induce noise no matter what but to the extent the noise created depends on a lot of factors.

But it's always wise to use ear plugs just in case. I myself have had ear sore due to my helmet wind noise and. Even when laying in bed, I can hear my ear tingling and the blast sound still reverbing, long back though.

              Cheers!

Earplugs is the best option, i Got earplugs sold by spartan (60 Rs) from AH Helmets Mumbai... They are pretty comfortable and fits properly also in ears withot any pain.

I have a question, don't SOL 68S come with earcuffs? Even they are not enough at 70?

You mean earplugs? I think so. Because I myself happen to see they are being offered by SPG as a promotional offer, and they get them only when buying from Chennai. I think

No not the plugs, I mean a soft cushion like thing that goes over your ears inside helmet. I have them in my Wrangler helmet, and I guess most others do and the cuffs do provide some protection from noise, but haven't tested it above 100 though, but at 70~80, not much noise.

I don't think that this is provided in most helmets out there, but if you can post a pic that'd be helpful. You mean the little inflated sides at the back side of the helmet, then no it's not out there in our helmets.

                        Cheers!

This is what I'm talking about

are you sure these aren't present in most of the helmets? They aren't much, but something is better than nothing, because once I borrowed my friends helmet which didn't have these, and there was quite a rise on the noise levels than in mine. Maybe it was because of the helmet quality itself (because his was some Rs.300 or Rs.250 helmet).

I don't know whether you are quoting to that extra flap stitched on the strap or the cresent section which comes near your cheek, they both aren't designed to buff your ears.

And by buff which I mean (though not really noise protection as such), those two *cups* in the helmets in normal LS2 and most costly helmets, the concave section.

I personally don't think this is in no way for ear protection, it's just the strap piece is a little extended where as you can see, the stitch is low. You might have gotten yourself confused this or the cheekpads for ear buffing. Is this modular helmet you're talking about? That when you flip up the pads naturally protect your ears? If yes, then that's a given in almost most all modular helmets.

                            Cheers!

Yea so they aren't for protection just as I thought. Still I find it hard to believe that the SOL S68S II has noise even at 70. So earplugs are must for them? And no mine is not modular helmet, its Wrangler Gold, quite old though, bought it around 2009. Will be getting a new helmet, once I get my ride.

                                yes i rode at 80's and 120's
if i open the intake ports
                                i get a mild sound

if they are closed no sound heard

and the paddings near the ear are better noise insulating compared to my previous LS2 FF350

but the iridum visor of SOL are very very dark
even in morning they make u feel as if its dark

but lS2's iridium visor , which i sometimes used at night with the visor down , i could see the road ( not soo clearly)
and i know iridium visors are only emant for day riding so i ride with visor pulled up at night times

but with SOL's Iridium visor , its like pitch dark
so im thinking to switch to clear visor ( which i got along with the helmet) at night times

                                overall
im satisfied with the snug fit and its got nice ventilation and im not sweating much inside it
this is what i was looking for , for proper ventilation
                                really liked SOL helmets
