@xpranav, @evyavan, did a lot of research and also paid a visit to the best helmet shop dealer in my city. . . Took a look at few of the models and and also saw the TiH, LS2 and okay I am fine with the graphics which I saw in the LS2 and would like to consider that. . . He said the LS2 would cost me around 2.8k and the TiH would be around 2k or below that, don't remember correctly as I busy seeing the helmet . . . BTW he said Studds, Vega, Steelbird and LS2 are all more or less the same class and said the only thing why people opt more for LS2 is that it's imported, rest all are the same. . . I saw a steelbird helmet, the look was awesome, but was a flip up helmet you said not to go for it, so will be considering between TiH and LS2, what are your views guys??? and thank you guys for helping me choose a helmet, a good one. . . BTW how come there is no visor or what they call goggles in the LS2 and TiH helmets. . ?

    Cheers!!!

You can go for the Studds helmet as it's a good one in the range you are looking for. The TiH ones you saw might be the low end stuff. My helmet cost me 3.2k INR. And it has dual visors. All companies have helmets on different ranges and you must choose one which suits your pocket.

As I said am not sure about the Vega ones as the experienced people here doesn't condone it. Steelbird is also good as I have an experience in crashing with one some years back. It helped in protecting my head but I have 4+5 stitches on inner and outer upper lip when the glass shards from its visor pierced it. I fell face first.

ok bro thanks for your inputs and for a full faced helmet of studds, I just saw it in an Honda showroom which was up for a sale, it was extremely awesome with dual visor and white and black and looked superb, the pricing was 2150 something, should I go for that as I feel it's from the Honda showroom and it'll be good quality and reliable or something else between studds, LS2 and TiH. . ? Thanks in advance. . .

The helmet has grooves in the shell to hold the elastic band of the goggles in place so that it does not slide around, and in fact you can even close your main clear visor over the goggles, though the open visor fully retracts into the shield to give you some fresh air. When it gets dark, simply remove the goggles and use the main clear visor. Like I said, one of the most versatile helmets I've ever used.
Sir, With every new post from your end on Dual Sport helmets I am turning into a fan (every aspect is way too practical and useful) and may be in a few months end up buying one

I suggest you both should first google the difference between a helmet with ISI standards rating and a helmet with ECE / DOT / Snell rating. And when you are done researching out the difference you will have the answer why you should prefer LS2/Cross/THH etc etc above Studds/Vega/Steelbirds etc etc. Neither of them is not certified for use in on-road conditions but certainly there is a huge difference.

I hope it helps and clear the immense clouds of confusion

I myself wanted a clear visor. Infact, i wanted to buy one separately but he didn't have it in stock.
I thought AH helmets would be more reliable than this but it seems they are a bunch of cons as well.
The guy who i spoke to was also a bit of a talker.
In case AH guys are not listening to your claims I think you should look for a visor replacement because as Sunny sir has pointed out that such visor are only used by the retailers to woo customers. You may also remove and thoroughly check the padding to ensure quality fit and finish of the product. While doing so if you come across any issue I have a "very neat" suggestion to offer at this stage.

Go the AH Helmets with the bill copy and talk to him with utter patience and ask him for a replacement for which he is sure to turn down your request. After all this drama is over, inform him that you are heading to "the consumer forum" and he will be made to pay the due attention. Wait for his reaction and do let us all know of his reaction !!

Google a bit about the consumer forum procedures and do your home work before you trade your jack on his a**. All the best

As I fully trust them,I got scorpion that day itself for rs 1700.Some points-
1)It is heavy..1450 gm..but now got used to it..no problems at all.But It is only almost as heavy as my friends LS2(rs 3500/-).
2)Its got 3 air vents in the front and 4 in back..good ventilation.
3)The overall quality and finish is comparable to that of my friends LS2(rs 3500/-).
4)The paddings inside can be removed and washed.
5)The chin strap also is really good..easy to remove and put in.
Very happy that I brought it..And thanks a lot to guys in this thread for suggesting this helmet.
Also I suggest this helmet to anyone on a tight budget...but no compromise on safety.
Excellent. Finally you've zeroed in on a full face helmet finally.

The tinted paint or whatever it is , is peeling off and that came out when i removed the sticker off the visor. The problem is only on the visor but i am now concerned with the overall quality of the helmet.
It isn't supposed to happen. A good quality visor should never lose it's coating properties so early. Get it replaced. The peeled part or shaded part will gradually shade off to a worser one if used. My advice, get it changed.

@xpranav, Motorcycle helmets are checked for its crash worthiness by agencies (like ISI in India). Motorcycle helmets manufactured in India have to get ISI certification; Americans have DOT and European have ECE 22.05 as the safety standards. . . That's the difference between ISI, DOT and ECE. . . It means helmets like Studds, Steelbird, Vega etc,. with ISI are made in India and other helmets like LS2 and so on are made by Europe and others with DOT are made by Americans. . . That's it, that's what the shop person said me yesterday, the only reason why people opt more for LS2 is because it is imported. . . Whatever these all helmets are certified right, I am not going to buy an helmet without these certifications and the one's which I said you come with ISI trademark. . . What's wrong in going for a helmet with our safety standards, why we need other country certifications. . ? Why not go for our Country Certification ???

              Cheers!!!

There's absolutely noting wrong going by our standards. Let me help you a little.

See, helmets certified by ISI is definitely inferior to an extent the way American and European certification are certified.

Now if you have a ISI helmet in US and you get pulled over by a cop, no matter what standard if he doesn't see DOT or ECE you're gonna get a ticket.

Consider the speeds limit in India as opposed to abroad. They had even faster bikes when the first Suzuki AX 100 rolled in India and standards are always on the stricter side.

There's a lot to this story but just a snippet to you and fellow folks

India's standards aren't any worse, per se but a Polo is better when it comes to crash safetyness than an Maruti 800, of course both are cars.

                Cheers!

After a long wait, finally got my new helmet - HJC RPHA10 Plus Jorge Lorenzo Helmet. Only rode it for around 200 kms so far and I am in love with this lid.
Box came with One Helmet with Clear Visor and received an additional Dark Smoke Visor as well. Also got a Pin lock shield insert which I am yet to put on the helmet. All the Lorenzo graphic decals set came in the box as well.

Looks: Gorgeous! Looks are out of this world. Big Monster Logos on the side and Lorenzo Signature Halo & X on top of the helmet. Lorenzo's Spartan Logo in the back add to the Glamour of this lid. Hi Viz Orange color for visibility looks awesome too. I don't think I can complaint about Looks in this helmet.

Fitment: Very Snug Fit. I am still trying to break in the cheeks pads, they are a little tight as of now. I am sure it will be fine after a couple of more rides. After wearing it, the comfort is just awesome. I dont feel like removing the helmet at all. But removing it is a little difficult task as it is tight fit as of now :P

Weight: It weighs merely 1300 grams and is super light weight & remarkably strong due to its Tri Composite Shell consisting of Carbon Fibre, Fibreglass and Aramid.

Air Flow: There are vents on top and chin which is easy to adjust with gloves. Ventilation so far has been good & hope to explore the ventilation more in the upcoming rides.

Shield: I think I could replace the clear shield with dark smoke in matter of seconds. It has center locking which I am trying to get used to but the seal is very secure.
As a result the noise levels are really less in those high speeds and I think I can safely avoid wearing the ear plugs with this lid.

Some pictures of the helmet - Although pictures dont do it any justice

Completely agree to your words Sir Ji ..............

Rakesh what I was trying to put before has been nicely explained by VJ Sir ............

The reason why I asked you to go for a ECE/DOT rated helmet is because the norms followed in Europe and US are a lot stricter than what we have in India. It is so because in those nations they ensure utmost value to human life and its safety.

We have a huge difference in the policy making in India and many other developed nations (due to many factors off course). So, the result is reflected in our norms too.

For ex: Indian pollution norms (Bharat Stage) are more relaxed than the European emission standards !!

Hence, I felt that within your budget you can avail a superior product and so I had suggested you to buy one. These ECE/DOT rated helmets have better vents in place to provide relatively better cooling of the scalp and thus there is a very little chance that you may suffer suffocation (as you were saying earlier in your post). Hope you buy a good product at a "killer" price from your friend's shop . Keep us posted

                    Warm Regards,
                    Pranav

Keep us posted
definitely and thank you all again, just waiting for my next month salary to be credited in another 15-20 days, so that I can go and get the helmet or sooner if possible. . . Our Indians need to work on these to make sure everyone feels our's is a superior quality compared to outsiders. . .

                            Cheers!!!

It's not about you have I buy, mine is better yours is inferior. SAFETY should be priority. If everyone goes superior and inferior wise, no riding gear will suffice one.

I understand the logic behind your post but this is just a friendly reminder to fellow chums.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                              The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

                              THE END

As I said there are a number of factors that influence the process of policy making ................ let me help you with an example of such a factor ...........

There are two criteria according to which the World Bank measure Poverty of a nation ............ for $1.25 per day per person of Income, we have around 32% of our population below poverty line while for $2 per day per person of Income, it is 68.7% of our population below poverty line.

Just think of it, if we go that way strict in our policies and ratings, we will hardly make a compromise with the quality of material and so making it affordable to our such a huge BPL population will be next to impossible.

We can always adopt better product for standardization but we are bound to opt for a COMPROMISE !!
