I just about managed yesterday. When rain was very heavy and/or I was in motion, I just focussed through. Other times, wiping firmly with one thumb stroke or lifting and closing the visor. As it is, with full face helmet, then visor, then rain ... visibility range goes down. Then managing potholes, flooded water, buses, impatient car owners etc you wish you could at least see better!

it will always be a problem in rains.. the best thing you could do is to stop when the visibility goes very down..
we can't get wipers on the visor like cars
also wiping with the hands won't be of any help.. it might cause even less visibility for a second or so after that..

^guys what to do with fog??? My ls2 visor gets fogged inside when it rains and becomes pretty hard to drive. Everytime I open,put my finger inside the helmet and clean any solution?? Like antifog?? Plz help

Fog is inherent in most visors unless it's fog treated even fog treated takes a second or two to get de-fogged. But most guys on LS2 face the same problem, and me too have faced the same. Solution? Just open at the end of the visor lock very little gap so that air flows in not too much but very little. When you close the visor and bring it down to close it fully, don't close it fully, just give it a slight gap, say 0.3 mm or so at the end so air flows in and de-fogs.

But in most high spec helmets you can't do them as they have three way ratchet system which use PINLOCK which is pretty costly and will only suit a PINLOCK assisted visor. PINLOCK is nothing but an antifog plastic sheet that one sticks inside the visor, and it is 100% fog proof no matter what.

But to keep it simple, do this way of leaving the visor open very slightly at the moment it locks, that way you reduce the fog's intensity dramatically.

With regard to fogging, as Blackthorn said, the best option is to get a helmet which comes with a pinlock visor. Works amazingly well in the rains = No fogging up at all. However given that most helmets dont come with the option an old trick of rubbing tobacco on the inside of the visor helps. Though i have to quickly add that we tried this on clear visors and not on coated/iridium visors. For the front of the visor, use of Oakleys hydrophobic solution causes the rain drops to bead up and roll down. improves visibility to an extent and definitely better visibility than stock visor which tend to have water sticking to it. I havent tried any other water beading product on the visor. Products like Rain X is available for automotive glass, but cant comment on its effect on a helmet visor.

Quick question for SOL users.

I understand that the SOL SL68S is on the heavier side. I wanted to know from the actual users if it is really heavy enough to tire you down on a long run? Any input on this will be helpful. thanks!

I dont use SL68S but the SF-1 which i believe is in the same weight category as SL68S. I have been using the Studds Ninja for the past 8 yrs and using the SF-1 has not made any change in weight of helmet. I am guessing both these helmet weight around 1400 gms.

usually the light weight helmets are made of carbon-fibre which are on the expensive side. and even they weight around 1-1.1 kg nothing less than that.

Never felt it heavy. You will get used to it. If you're riding a naked bike u will get tired due to cross winds

The SL68s is 1500gms and the SL68sII is 1400gms as per SPG. I'm not sure what the SF-1 weighs though.. I would think 1500.. but thanks for your input.

Yeah, that was my question. I will be on a naked bike.

But almost all LS2s , SOLs, etc..etc are around the 1400gms mark. I'm torn between the 1400gms(SL68sII) vs 1500gms(SL68s). I like the SL68s designs but I'm thinking if I should go for the newer lighter II although it's just 100gms lighter. Not sure if the difference can be felt.

100 gm doesn't may a difference. Choose the one which satisfies your expectations.never had SL68II when I bought.

Studds scorpion

Finally destructive test of the Scorpion happened yesterday.
Was riding at around 75-80 kmph, misjudged a corner, and bang!! Head first into the bushes.

1)Helmet's strap dint come off, and the snug fit ensured that my head was still, no pain neck up, whatsoever.
2)Visor still intact, with a few scratches of course.
3)No visible cracks on the lid. Don't know if they are suppose to appear :P

Anyways, time for a new lid. And I won't hesitate to buy this solid lid again. Again, those who cannot afford LS2, and are saving up hard for it, please do take a look at this lid. It won't disappoint.

SOL isn't that heavy, but with those fancy LEDs they do add just a very amount of weight. But though the helmet looks huge, surprisingly they are not too heavy on the neck.

When a helmet has done its deed it's a wise idea to discard and get a new lid, especially after a head on crash. In some instances the helmet may appear normal but it's shock abosorbing or the cushioning effect may have been compromised, or to put it correctly, it is compromised after such a crash. But next time if you take a head on crash with the same helmet, the protection level would be close to zero as your head tumbing inside the helmet is more or less equal to hitting a brick wall provided the speed you carry.

sol helmets must have been discussed a lot but couldn't help myself from posting pics of this beauty.at 5630inr for plain and 6180 for the graphics variety what are the other options around this price range.i personally think the quality is notch above ls2.price is as well.which other brands are available at this price range with comparable features?internal visor is a boon but can be forgotten for better protection ratings/materials/quality.no cross helmets please.i consider the above prices a ceiling/p-max.same features at lesser price possible?also ls2 384 are not coming with internal visors now.the red button is missing.
