hye, please dont use low cost tissues. newspapers are the best ones for glass cleaning with water. if at all you use tissues, use something thats soft and good.

I make it a point to use good quality tissues, quite frankly the tissues are much softer than regular newspapers. Been using Premier brand tissues for over six years now and have not once had any trouble

Completely agree on that, especially the ones served in restaurants and party's but I have noticed that the car tissues that come in those pullout boxes are much softer irrespective of the brand. And they are quite cheap too these days, hence my faithful companion when on the road

Sorry bro. I don't have a detailed review yet, as I am working out of city at present using company transport.
I tried it for about 30 min and some 15 km in Bangalore peak traffic...so no experience with high speeds.
Over-all fit is far better than LS2 (cartoon-2)...angle of view is adequate (doesn't obstructs your view in traffic)...D-ring will require some practice to hook-up with gloves...weight is around 2 kg (my LS2 was around same)...fogging is a problem at low speed (specially in Bangalore climate...but is same in almost all budget brands)...
I didn't liked the dual visor as it is in light black shade (UV400)....I would have preferred reflective coating...

That's all at present...I will be back by mid of this month...then I will try it extensively as my office commute is around 35 km (to-fro)...

hope this will help you some...

Indrathirth , this is the thread where your query belongs. LS2 in b'lore has a range starting from 2.5k for older models going up until 11.5k for the carbon fibre models.

Just a suggestion if you are willing to spend upto 5k on LS2 then take a look at the starting range of SOL helmets too

The only solution I believe against theft is to carry your helmet around everywhere with you.

First off, I guess SOL DS comes with a plain visor, which is well, as most brands UV treated, scratch resistant, anti glare etc, but most of them do have certain nitpicks when it comes to practical use. Do you wear specs, if yes, try using them. If yo do not, make sure the visor is cleaned because dust and stuff can indeed hamper vision. Make sure it's clean, and as fellow folks advised, try using a clean soft toilet grade tissue. But if it still glares, make sure it isn't scratched. The main cause of glaring is scratches, which scatters the light.

Seems like a new venture, but perhaps shoot them a mail and see how it fares, because that's the only way to assess how good they are w.r.t the query.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Yes, I did have a chat with them, They have an ebay store eastwins, they recently set up their own website.
I was actually interested in SOL SL68s Unicorn II in red. I called up Spartan Pro Gear, they said that it was out of stock and may take upto 1 month for new stock to arrive.

Price at Spartan Pro Gear: 5,750
Price at bikegear.in: 6,300

I decided to wait and purchase the helmet directly from Spartan. Any ideas, suggestions as to where I can find the Unicorn helmet in stock. I am from Hyderabad.

Thanks,
Abhishek!

I have no clue as to who resells in Hyd, but that's almost close to 700 bucks of moolah spent on the helmet. If you can wait, I'd suggest it would be a better proposition to get it from them directly.

And for everyone, here is the FAQ that's in the SPG's website, pretty comprehensive.

FAQ of SPG. This can clear a lot of doubts for newbies and reseller sans cities.

Why is there sometimes a difference between the price quoted by dealers in my city and the price listed on the website?

FOR APPAREL AND ACCESSORIES: The prices listed on the website are the final prices inclusive of all taxes and levies throughout India. If you are paying anything more, you are being over-charged.

FOR HELMETS: Because India has differing VAT regimes depending on the states, some states are exempt from VAT on helmets, like Tamil Nadu. Even neighbouring states like Karnataka and Kerala have VAT on helmets. The prices listed on our website are the maximum retail prices in TN. As a general rule, if your state has VAT on helmets, the price would be maximum 15% more. Anything more and you are being over-charged.
Where should I buy from?

To protect customers from duplicate products and over-charging, we encourage customers to buy ONLY from authorised resellers and dealers. This list of resellers is displayed on the “Contact Us” page of our website. ALWAYS insist on a proper tax invoice. This is your proof of purchase and also serves as your warranty card. Remember that SPG cannot honour a warranty claim if the product is purchased from an unauthorised source.
Is there a warranty on products?

As a sign of commitment to its customers, SPG provides a warranty on every item it sells. The warranty for apparel is six months from date of purchase, while helmets have a one year warranty against any manufacturing defects. Please remember that the warranty specifically covers manufacturing defects only and does not include wear and tear and/or abuse. The warranty claim MUST be accompanied by the tax invoice of the product issued by an authorised reseller/dealer. You may approach the reseller or dealer for assistance or the mail the Company directly [email protected]. Claims without valid invoices will not be entertained. Liability is limited to repair or replacement of the product only at the sole discretion of the Company.

How do I purchase online?
As of now, SPG does not offer a direct online purchase option via credit card. We offer only assisted purchase via NEFT bank transfer or Demand Draft ( subject to realisation). Our banking details are listed below:
Spartan ProGear Co.
A/c No: 18522560000061
HDFC Bank Ltd.
No.117, Old Mahabalipuram Road, Karapakkam, Chennai 600097
IFSC: HDFC0001852
PLEASE DO NOT DEPOSIT CASH INTO THE ACCOUNT. We reserve the right to treat cash deposits into our account as donations to our favourite charity.

Are there shipping charges for my purchases?

Yes. We ship via contracted logistics at the following rates; Helmets – Rs.500/- each; Jackets – Rs.350/- each; Pants – Rs.250/- each; Gloves – Rs.150/-a pair; SENA – Rs.250/- a set; Accessories – Please check with our HelpDesk -
[email protected]
Smaller items like gloves if ordered with larger items like jackets or helmets would ship free.

How long does the courier take to deliver?
We ship by air-freight from Chennai, so most metros would get delivery within 3 days. We intimate you by email the AWB or Tracking number once our logistics provider generates it.

What is your shipping and delivery policy? For International buyers, orders are shipped and delivered through registered international courier companies and/or International speed post only. For domestic buyers, orders are shipped through our contracted logistics provider who utilises registered domestic courier companies and /or speed post only. Orders are shipped within 2 working days of payment receipt, if the goods are in stock. If the product is on back order, then it will be shipped within two working days after we receive it in our warehouse. Spartan ProGear Co., is not liable for any delay in delivery by the courier company / postal authorities and only guarantees to hand over the consignment to the courier company or postal authorities within two working days from the date of the order and payment. Delivery of all orders will be to the address of the buyer as per the order. SPG is in no way responsible for any damage to the order while in transit to the buyer.

My order was received in a damaged condition. What should I do?
SPG undertakes to hand over the order to the courier and its liability ends there. However, since we utilise the services of a contracted logistics provider, the items are insured and damages can be claimed PROVIDED

1. The receiver inspects the package personally and finding it in a damaged condition asks the courier company to return to us.
2. Does NOT sign the courier’s POD. If you suspect that your order has been damaged by the couriers mishandling, simply refuse to accept the package and ask the courier to return to us. Immediately mail us informing the same, with details of the couriers name and mobile number. Since the package is still with the courier company, we can now effectively track the package and claim damages and replace your order with a new one as soon as possible. Remember it is better to refuse to accept a parcel that you suspect has been damaged rather than be stuck with a broken or damaged item.

Is it cheaper to buy from the company directly rather than from the reseller/dealer?
Not really. The retail prices are the same and only in helmets are the prices different because of no VAT in TN. The cost of shipping would more or less equal the difference in purchase cost. Also, you would be able to get hands on service from your local reseller. Ideally you should buy direct from us if there is no reseller/dealer in your city.

Can I exchange/return products for resizing?
Yes. You may send the purchased items back for exchange of size. The items will be exchanged PROVIDED
1. The product is returned unused.
2. The product is accompanied by the original invoice, packing, labels. etc.,
3. The product is received by us in re-saleable condition, so please use a proper courier service.
Products not received in the above condition will not be exchanged. We will ship the item for exchange to you(within India) the second time at no additional cost to you

I’ve changed my mind. Can I get a refund?

SPG does not have any refund policy, however if the product received by the customer is defective or damaged, we will repair or replace the product, after inspecting and validating the claim.

I have some other questions. Who do I contact?

It should not. I have one which is more than a year old and has no such issue. Glare is due to two reasons - dirt and/or micro-scratches. Please check for these first.

The best and most economical way to regularly clean your visor is with water and a soft tissue. NEVER rub your visor with a dry cloth/tissue. I've seen many guys do this and I'm like WTF!?!?? Rubbing the visor when dry will cause micro-scratches that will eff up the visor completely.

A (good) microfibre cloth hardly costs Rs 100 or so, and it's a good investment to protect the visor. While tissues are soft, they can still catch stray grit and rub across the visor, which is usually polycarbonate and prone to scratching. Microfibre+a couple of drops of water will trap the dirt and ensure it does not drag across the surface. That's the reason why people use microfibre in detailing as well.

If the scratch is deep it will not go away ............. try some wax polish over the place to see if it helps a bit
