Hey guys i am from mumbai and i have a LS2 PUMPING MECHANISM lid and i feel that its a great lid as i felt almost nothing when i fell directly on my head during my last accident but after that accident i could see a crack on the side of my lid and as the PUMPING MECHANISM LS2 is not available anymore at least thats what i have heard from the helmet dealers,so now i want a good helmet for myself. My budget is around 8K and around 8k i could only find HJC as both LS2 n SOL dont have size XS or S which is my size in there range, but now i am not even able to source my size in HJC as even performance racing store in mumbai doesnt have my size.So i wanted to know is there any other place in mumbai from where i can source original good quality lid of my size or any genuine site from where i can source it and btw guys i also wanted to know is this a genuine n a good site from where i can buy helmet. http://www.motosport.com/IN/motorcyc...l-face?page=11

Re: Helmets
Managed to get the visor part right... awaiting the video for the liners/paddings. Would also like to see how it goes back into the shell. thanksOriginally posted by snehithpereira View PostYes exactly reverse the process and presto! It's done. Start by placing in the circular lock slots first. Let the visor be positioned just over the side locks and push the visor down on both sides at the same time, you need not pull down the locks this time. When you hear a small click on both ends, your visor is fixed
Will do the video soon
Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Btw how do you guys wash them? Soap/Detergent? Just soak and rinse them in a soapy/detergent solution? Avoid drying in the sunlight yes? Pardon the many questions.. just getting the hang of it now
EDIT: Found Sunny's suggestion for washing so you can disregard the last request. Thanks for the video and all the help

Re: Helmets
A noob question
Without any accident or any type of impact, how long would the helmet be able to provide the required protection ?
As the helmet is exposed to heat, rains and other environmental factors, how long would the helmet stay good for use ?
Its a plastic mould at the root and with time, materials tend to loose their strength.
Mine has completed 2 years.
Ride safe and have fun.

Cheekpad removal is very simple, it's as simple as picking your tooth for that stuck chicken part. It needs car to pick it out, but you know it's gonna come out, I can't find a better way to explain this. Just see in YouTube or the video above how to do it yourself. You start by pulling the cheekpads laterally from the inside, where you might hear "click" "click" sounds which is a clear indication the cheekpads are coming out. The same goes for the reversal, you must hear a "click" sound so that it lets you know the cheek pads have slotted in.
Cheers!

I guess we can follow the same basis for helmet replacement keeping in mind the quality maintained by our helmet manufacturersThe five-year replacement recommendation is based on a consensus by both helmet manufacturers and the Snell Foundation. Glues, resins and other materials used in helmet production can affect liner materials. Hair oils, body fluids and cosmetics, as well as normal "wear and tear" all contribute to helmet degradation. Petroleum based products present in cleaners, paints, fuels and other commonly encountered materials may also degrade materials used in many helmets possibly degrading performance.
Additionally, experience indicates there will be a noticeable improvement in the protective characteristic of helmets over a five-year period due to advances in materials, designs, production methods and the standards. Thus, the recommendation for five-year helmet replacement is a judgment call stemming from a prudent safety philosophy.

Re: Helmets
SOL is the helmet that's almost ubiquitously loved by many for it's funky colors and graphics. Check SOL's website, you might get quite some ideas. Apart from that you have many helmets, but the reason SOL is so successful is it's flashy, it turns eyes almost immediately.
Cheers!
