MT is the best among the entry level helmets. If u can stretch ur budget to 7k, u can go for HJC/SparX/SOL in that order.

I rode 150 kms nonstop with my MT helmet on and i can say that its a good helmet not the best though. When riding above 60 or 70 my head moved like a snake in wind. Cross winds are also hard to tolerate as it pushes head sideways. Wind noise creeps in after 60 and is not disturbing till 80 but i didn't feel whistling which is a nightmare for me. Whistling in my first ever helmet was so bad that i had to visit my ENT almost every second week. Thankfully i didn't face it after that and with MT helmet on i was riding above 80 most of the time and i touched 100 aswell but no whistling sound. Though wind noise is there. Ventilation is good above 60 and ventilation ports and plastic is not of bad quality but not so good also.

Little neck pain but may be due to strong winds, weight is also little more then my previous one.

Overall a good deal. And ofcourse it is my experience which may not be same for others..

Okk.. So im planning on buying a new helmet..and that would be l Dirt/Mx style. Iam willing to shell out 5000rs on it. Any suggestions/help would really help.
Although i went through few of those online but a little more help might give me a wider perspective to decide over it.

For Dirt or MX styled ones, only SOL has good quality lids for that type. The other companies ike Tih,LS2 and Vega which provide those type are absolutely rubbish.

                        My latest acquisition.
A DOT approved helmet from SS (Speed & Strength).
                        Bought it from Revzilla.com.
                        Price - USD 89.00
Shipping cost approx. $70.00 (this includes the cost of shipping a Dainese riding pants besides the helmet.)
Shipping - US postal service priority express mail.
                        Transit time: 12 days
                        Customs duty: None
Payment method- International Debit card (ICICI Bank)

First impression - Adequate air flow but a bit noisy I thought. The cheek pads seem a bit tight , wear it a few times it'll
come around to your liking. Plan to use it for riding around town.

Impulse buy- I didn't really need a helmet at this time, what can I say I am a sucker for good graphics.

A few photos in case any of yous are curious what it looks like.

Would be for touring purposes and weekend rides. Please dont get into technical aspects on MX type helmets being not good for touring etc...i know all that. Any Mx type helmet or any suggestions related to that etc would really help.

In that case, Krish has advised you to get SOL. Rest, you don't care what other members have to say. Go figure yourself!
                            Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

Actually i do care what you guys say...thus the reason i posted here. What i dont care about is people driving others according to what they believe is right for them. For Ex : here MX helmet is not good for touring and cold places etc (i know this fact) and knowing that still im opting for the same...and people instead of suggesting MX ones post reasons to drive one to buy a usual full face helmet rather than MX ones. So i said that...you took it up the other way....
Oh and you were pretty straight forward..i liked that.
