Thanks a lot for your inputs. Really helps a lot. I'll do bit more research about HJC/KBC. If i'm spending 6-7k for SOL, i can go without food for a couple of days and get HJC/KBC if its more safer

But nevertheless i will check out MT and SOL since i'll anyways be going to Lets Gear up.
Thanks guys

Ok fellows.. Time for a helmet upgrade.. I mostly will be using it for touring purpose. Hence the essential features are

1.good protection
2.light weight
3.good ventilation
4.good quality visor
5.less wind noise
6.removable washable liners

In that order. Budget max 7k.. Please suggest. I was originally going for sol sf1 but I saw people saying it's heavy, and the visor quality isn't good.

Also wanted to ask.. Does it really make lot of difference if the helmet has an internal retractable Sun visor!

Thanks for your help..

Cheers!

Getting a light-weight helmet will be tough under 7K. Also almost all the helmets in the range have the similar wind noise protection. For a few more bucks, you can get an Airoh, HJC which would tick all the points in your list. Sparx helmets are also good but again would cost you above 7.5K.

Below 7K, the best option you get is SOL, which is relatively heavy, but not by much. The visors are also good, but, wind noise is an issue. However, its always suggested for you to wear eraplugs when going on long rides as no helmet is completely without noise.

I feelthat an internal sun-visor in a helmet does not serve any purpose for daily commuting, but, when touring there would be certain scenarios wherein you would want to protect your eyes from glare, be it directly from sun or from surrounding landscape. Hope this helps.

AmitRavi07 thanks for your feedback bro.. You say that an hjc would tick off all the points on my list. How much would that be for? If it's a couple grand more, I can save some more and then buy it.. I liked the designs on the airoh at bachoo motors in Mumbai.. But don't know about its ventilation.. Didn't seem to have any vents at all..

HJCs start at around 8K (a liitle less), CS-14, 16 would be easily available within 9K. I haven't tried Airoh helmets, but you can find its reviews here.

Airoh's a good one according to reviews; though I have seen one closely I haven't used one to vouch. HJC is lighter and starts at 7500/- INR IIRC.

Any authorized dealers in India for Airoh?? I cant see India on their official website.. I hear there's a lot of trickery going around here regarding dupes and fakes.. So i would like to know of "genuine" "authorized" dealers.. and if the company website doesnt list their names.... welll.. it creates doubts...

Bro go for HJC if u can. It is the #1 helmet brand in the world.

Otherwise, u can go for SparX/SOL. Both are gud. Dunno abt others, but I changed to SparX S07 from a Steelbird Modular helmet & the wind noise was greatly reduced by around 3x (unbelievable for me), i.e. wind noise is negligible. & SparX S07 is among the lightest non carbon fibre helmets in the market ryt now @ 1.5 kgs I believe !!

TranquilRage yes, I know you brother.. And thanks for puttting a mini review again just to reply..

From all of the above I guess it would be wise to save some more and go for hjc.. I will try out sparx as well before taking a final call.. It's bad that hjc doesn't come with cool graphics like the airoh or the new ls2 lids.. But if I have to compromise, graphics would be the first thing to let go of.

I'll let you know about my purchase once I have enough dough to make one..
