TranquilRage yes, I know you brother.. And thanks for puttting a mini review again just to reply..

From all of the above I guess it would be wise to save some more and go for hjc.. I will try out sparx as well before taking a final call.. It's bad that hjc doesn't come with cool graphics like the airoh or the new ls2 lids.. But if I have to compromise, graphics would be the first thing to let go of.

I'll let you know about my purchase once I have enough dough to make one..

Cheers!

Hey, pls go ahead & check my reviews. Didn't hv the luxury to try it out. As I'm based in Guwahati. No shops here. Knew my head size. So, it wasn't a prob. Check out the SparX size chart from their website !! Got my lid from bikegear.in for 6.4k including shipping which is pretty gud I think as PRS, etc charge 7k+ for SparX lids !!

Without prejudice to your purchase, allow me to clarify.

1. PRS stopped distribution of KBC/SPARX quite some time ago. This helmet company has been in trouble globally for awhile now and many of its distributors around the world have stopped dealing with this brand of helmets.
2. Currently there is no authorised distributor for this brand in India, so the authenticity of the products are difficult to certify.
3. The helmets are being offered from dealers in Delhi's infamous Karol Bagh to retailers across India for the ridiculous cost of Rs.3500/- per helmet, to be retailed at around Rs.5000/-. Several members here have bought the S-07 at this price.
4. The website you mention is a fly-by night operator who does not have stock of any of the products he advertises. Once he gets the order, he actually goes to the market to source the item and sends it to the buyer, so don't expect any kind of warranty support from him. I speak from experience of having him advertise products from the company I work for, even though he is not authorised to do so.

Hmmmmm.... There myt be cost mismatch, but the product is authentic. Bcoz I got everything mentioned on the SparX website wid the helmet. I even minutely checkd the graphics with the online pics & they are 100% similar. Who cares abt warranty on a helmet? when ur nyways gonna sell it on OLX after a few years. And considering my location (Ghy), I'm least bothered to go & check for a SparX helmet in Mum/Blr/Del. Product is 100% genuine. I can vouch for it. Its got the ECE written underneath the clearcoat !! Got the SparX pouch alongwith it containing the manual, earplugs, 2 stickers, visor fog vents, etc.

Only thing is maybe its through the black mkt or taxes myt not have been paid on it wich makes its price lower than the MRP !!

True.. One thing I noticed though.. Is that the model which I was looking for, is not listed on sparx website.. Which might be alright.. It may be from an old stock.. But the website mentions it's a universal size... Which can absolutely not be true.. Since sparx website has a full blown size chart on their website...

It certainly raises a doubt about the reseller.

Don't be so pickyy. Do u want warranty? If not, then go ahead & make the purchase. Because the product is 100% genuine. Probably, u'll nyway sell it on OLX after 2-3 yrs. Its much easier nowadays.

For instance, inside the curves on the back of the helmet, dere are vry vry small scratch type spots. On seeing it, I thought it was damaged. But, on seeing the SparX website, saw the same spots were dere too. U CAN CHECK IT AS WELL. ON THE BACKSIDE, INSIDE THE 2 CURVES ON BOTH SIDES !!

I think the question is whether u want the SparX helmets +/- warranty??

Actually it was a compromise in the sense what actually I desired and what was available. I wanted SOL Unicorn since I bought my bike 40 days back. But the stock was not available even for once with its dealer. Tried MT helmet from Meandering India, Large was too large for my skinny face..tried Medium NUVO, but still it was not fit.

Then today went to Ryerz accessories Karol Bagh, what fit me was XS size of NUVO which he was selling at 3k. Original one comes at 6k. I got the sense that either I wait infinitely for SOL and that too I am not sure even if small will fit me.

To avoid the state of limbo with my current desi helmet bought this for 4500. It is light. Has DOT stickering, but the main thing is that it fits just about ok. Wind noise starts creeping in at 65Km/h.

I honestly would not like to comment since I did not inspect the helmet personally. Let's just hope that our friend has got a good helmet, since he said the certification is embossed.

I would however like to relate something that is buzzing in the international markets. While travelling in China recently, I came across a large number of KBC and Sparx helmets in the motorcycle bazaar areas of Guangzhou and HongKong being offered at ridiculously low prices. Upon some questioning, I was told that there is some internal trouble in the parent company (KBC/Sparx) and many Chinese vendors have not had their payments cleared. These vendors who have the moulds have been churning out products with the parent company's logos, without quality checks and flooding the markets in a bid to make up their losses by selling the famous branded products. However, since the local market knows these things the target market ended up being the third world, especially unsupervised markets with no certification enforcement. While I must re-iterate that this was what I was told and not discovered myself, two things which lend credence to this story is;

1. The helmets being sold in India currently are offered through traders in Delhi at ridiculously low prices and retailed far lower than the original price of the S-07. The reputation of these traders require no further comment. And why did a reputed importer like PRS stop dealing with KBC/SPARX?

2. KBC/SPARX are not available at most big retailers in the US anymore and those that do are selling them at heavy discount/closeout/clearance sales. Even the company's official communications are about clearance sales. Indeed it seems easier to buy an S07 in India today than in the US.

Please note that my observations are from my own experiences, discussions and research and if anyone has some facts that would enlighten me, I would be happy to be educated or corrected.

Prince, since that is a loaded question, allow me to reply in two parts.

Firstly who is to determine what is affordable? What is affordable to you may not be affordable to me. Hence this rationale should be avoided. I also personally know many "rich" guys who pay Rs.10L and above for their motorbikes and will not spend more than Rs.3k for a helmet. I also know many bikers who ride relatively "small" bikes who are ready to spend more money on their helmets. So let's not peg the helmets according to affordability.

Secondly, rather lets peg the helmets based on the quality of construction and certification standards that they adhere to, rather than go by brand names. There are many discussions on this forum discussing this, so let's focus on that.

---------------------------------------------------------------------

In a universe of men and machines, there is an individual who achieves the purest confluence of both worlds where he and the machine must become one - He is The Biker!

So in effect, these are kinda genuine since the factory producing them is same, but, without the quality checks there is no guarantee that these helmets will be able to protect properly. Prudence suggests to avoid these helmets until the air clears around them and go for some other brands that are officially available in India. Thanks Sunnyside_up!
