hey man i agree with you that your helmet has to match the colour of your bike but safety matters more than shade. If you agree with me then I suggest to you a few helmets .they are ls2 helmets (theere in which air pump is there but it usually last 6-9 months ) or mt helmets axxis is good option.

Re: Helmets
Depends upon the cops to be frank! DOT is phoren certification. ISI is desi certification. You can go for MT helmets eyes closed, if cops don't stop bikers for Helmet certification related checks.Originally posted by Pritesh Patel View PostGuys today i saw an mt helmet in kolkata i liked that helmet but it disnt have a isi mark instead it had dot so will it work or il get ticketed... Re: Helmets
in a way, this thread helped me to choose my helmet. I am a newbie rider and was looking for helmets. In the shops I enquired, they had aaron, vega, volga, steelbird, ozone brands etc. I was on a budget with max 1.5k rs. I came back and saw this thread and got to know aaron was a good indian brand. so i got my aaron helmet matching my bike's color
the shop keeper let me test it by hitting it with a wooden hammer both on shell and visor. it was sturdy and was resilient. hope it is durable and protective.here is a picture of my helmet.
thanks.

I am from Chennai and I got a helmet recently. If you havent got your helmet yet, then visit HEAD GEAR - the helmet boutique at thousand lights, chennai. also you have pioneer helmets, rinbow helmets in the same wing. I saw LS2 and MT Helmets at all these shops but HEAD GEAR had more stock and more models available ready for sale. they also had good quality cheaper helmets if you are on a lower budget to start with.

I could not believe what I was reading and had to read this again !
Obviously you haven't been paying attention to the thread properly. Helmets that are dropped from more than three feet height or subjected to a good impact are recommended to be changed because they are considered damaged/ having compromised their impact absorption capability. And here you are banging your brand new helmet with a hammer? Where you buying a helmet or a bucket to test it with a hammer?
The impact absorption/ protection of the helmet comes from the EPS liner (thermocol) on the inside of the helmet. The external shell is meant to spread the impact and keep the internal part compressed around your skull. A good helmet shell is supposed to absorb a certain amount of impact and then crack/deform beyond a certain impact force to diffuse the energy of an impact so that the entire force is not transmitted to the inside EPS. By banging the helmet with a hammer you've proven you've bought a good hard plastic shell but probably damaged the internal EPS which would lose its impact absorption capability.
Which shop did you buy this helmet from? I'd like to go there and give the shopkeeper a piece of my mind and stop him from doing this stupid thing.

haa chill. i think there was a slight miscommunication from my side. by saying he let me test 'it' i meant an aaron helmet and not this exact one which i bought
it was there as a show piece on the window. this was taken from inside from the box which can be seen next to it. its intact
and i read from previous posts that once it falls on hard impact, it opens up and also saw some post mentioning it happened to an aaron helmet which was protective and it came into my budget.
i got it from head gear near thousand lights. the shopkeeper did that as i was interrogating him so much about the quality of it as i didnt know much about helmets. finally he got fed up and decided to test it on an aaron helmet of the same model. also in the pic it can be seen that the helmet has not suffered any damages/ scratches and its a new piece. thats why i hope it still is durable and protective as the tested one
also i didnt know that people tested buckets with hammer.
thanks

2. No scratch doesn't necessarily mean no damage. Assume I kick someone hard in the gut, he may look ok from the skin but may have ruptured tissues within.
3. Sunny (the guy who replied to you) has good knowledge in helmets and riding gear to say the least. So, take what he suggests in a positive way.
4. We're all glad that you didn't hammer your helmet but I'm scared what if that show piece which you hammered is sold to someone else?Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.
