All the Axors in the store (that are listed on the website) and the Vega branded copies of the Star model had ISI as well as DOT certification. The 6 models that were on sale including the one I bought had "only" ECE certification. No DOT and/or ISI mark anywhere.

Guys,

Allow me to clarify and hopefully clear up the confusion.

1. Vega first launched the Axor as a co-branded effort but soon realised that it was difficult to charge a premium for the helmet being a homegrown player with a reputation for entry level helmets. Also the fact that they are copying LS2 graphics didn't help. The popular LS2 Phobia, Cartoon and Combat graphics are all available in the entry level Vega (no longer called Axor ) shell. That is what Krishna is referring to.
2. The new AXOR range was relaunched without the Vega branding and a different shell as an "Italian" brand. You can visit the single static page website AXOR caschi proteggono ed elegante to determine for yourself whether they are actually made in Italy. A simple domain registry search will show you that the domain is registered in Belgaum.
3. The price of the Axor is Rs.2600/- MRP if I'm not mistaken. I have their price list somewhere and can confirm later. Definitely not Rs.5000/-. Offered online as pointed out by Pizzaboi as Rs.2200/- thereabouts. So Peter probably paid the regular price for the helmet and was duped on the discount part.
4. AXR is a product made by another Belgaum based company, Ryder Helmets who till recently made VERY low end helmets. They are importing the shells and other components from China and assembling in Belgaum. These are priced in the 2600 - 3600 price range depending on the model ( they have two) and the dealer.

I hope this helps.

Cheers!

Sunnyside_up! OT question but we seem to be having a tough time sourcing Mt helmets and spares in Hyderabad, is there an issue with the flow of stock? Or should I just order it from the SPG website

There is absolutely no information about any helmets on the webpage. Probably still under construction.

The prices of the Helmets are on www.vegaauto.com. Most models are 2420 and 2690 here. The model number is A1. Price difference primarily because of graphics. These helmets have a single visor, no vents and a matte finish. The model I got was P2. It has dual visors, 4 vents and a glossy finish. The A1's are DOT & ISI certified whereas the P2 is ECE certified. There is no information on the P2 anywhere. I can understand a dealer trying to dupe people. Why a company owned outlet would do it beats me. And that too by putting a poster advertising 50% discount? I have sent a query to Vega via their website about this model. Will post the reply they send. I doubt they can price a helmet matching the description of the P2 for less than 2500. KYT sells a similar spec helmet for 7000. People buy it for that price and don't feel duped.

Whats the point of explaining people when they would still believe that "company outlet" cant dupe and still argue that they are correct. People here have given them enough reasons for the questions.

@Sunnyside_up! : Saw the red white Kranos y'day here in Delhi, must say beautiful looking helmet. Please arrange for other visors too, as the dealer here have no idea about smoked ones (Chopra,Delhi)

Hey guys as suggested by members earlier I am going to get a Helmet from Mumbai.

I am thinking of going to moto101 since a lot of you guys seem to recommend this shop to others. Anything I should look out for? Any other place maybe?

Thanks a ton guys!

Krishna - it's a demand/supply gap. MT/Kranos demand is way beyond any predictions or forecasts made by the company. Last Axxis and Blade containers were sold out before they reached shore due to pre-orders. SPG is scrambling to meet the shortfall and fresh stocks should be in dealer stores in a couple of weeks. Visors and cheek pads too.

Why is MT Kranos so much in demand? Is it the best in its range in terms of safety/value?

Btw I own LS2 phobia as of now, kinda bored of it. Not that i hate it, but i wish to upgrade provided i get the following advantages compared to LS2 under 5000 bucks:
Slightly less heavy
Lesser wind noise
Air vents (at least as effective as LS2)
Availability of spare visors online

I am not looking for the built in sunglasses type helmets, a simple full face helmet would suffice.

Exactly same story here. Owned an LS2 Phobia before this.

Go for Some other brands Speedy, MT, Sparx, HJC so on so forth.
Style wise too LS2 is getting pretty far behind.
Time to think higher.

Actually I need to physically checkout the helmet size before purchase.and the dealers here are stocking nothing but Vega,Steelbird and LS2. I have used LS2 Phobia original for 2+ years and the experience has been nothing short of amazing! My requirements are: Dark/tinted visor, No wind noise, snug fit and price within 4500.

Increase a lil bit and you can get MT / SOL or even old stock of Sparx
