Until recently, the number of riders in India who could even afford high-end imported helmets was minimal, but now that imported helmets are becoming more commonplace, they need to be accounted for. The standards for nearly every foreign helmet safety certification are far higher than the ISI requirement, and this needs to be taken into account.

In reality, the Indian government needs to accept that these foreign helmets are coming in, and either grant the ISI sticker on arrival (since the foreign certs surpass the ISI requirement), or they need to accept the foreign certification as being sufficient in and of itself. If there are any lawyers here on the forum, this would make for a good project: both the appeal of the ruling on the grounds that it is too broad, and lobbying politicians to address the acceptance of foreign safety certifications.

If I may put my suggestion, this ISI rule is issued because many people have now jumped to ECE, DOT certified helmets, reducing the sale of ISI helmets to a huge margin. And in order to get back the customers, this new rule has been implemented.
In such case the Govt. Of India should have made the ISI certified helmets as the minimum safety helmets to be worn and not made a rule stating ONLY ISI HELMETS TO BE WORN.

SOL are very noisy and quite heavy compared to other lot that we have in the market now

I've looked into and tried a lot of helmets. SMK is out. I haven't tried out MT helmets, but a lot of my friends are saying after that crash of a motocross player and his death, MT Helmets are off their list. Hence, ignoring MT helmets for now. My friends are recommending LS2 helmets, and so far, whichever ones I've tried, they are really good in quality compared to others. Hence, I am interested (quite a lot) in getting an LS2 helmet. I've read the Fake LS2 helmets thread, but couldn't draw a proper conclusion from it. On the official LS2 website (https://ls2helmets.com/in/), if we select India as the country, the only dealer it shows is Laxmi Automobiles in Pune. Apparently, Laxmi Automobiles also have their own official website where I can purchase a helmet from (Official LS2 Website).

I've narrowed it down to FF320 model of LS2. Seems really good, proper ventilation, good padding, chin curtain, dual visors (including sun visor inside), etc. Overall, seems like a good helmet. I tried one out at a shop for size, and liked the L size. Couldn't buy it from the shop (in Thane) coz he was charging an exorbitant price (7.5k for a helmet that's available for 5.4k online).

Anyways, after all this research, I am still a little bit concerned. What's the current status of LS2 helmets in India? Are Laxmi Automobiles (Official LS2 Website) trustworthy? I can get one off Myntra for 500 bucks cheaper (sold by FashionTech), but I don't know who the seller is, so can't vouch for authenticity. Another seller is on Ebay (Rider's Den), but as of right now, I haven't found an Ebay 10% discount coupon (maybe they've stopped giving those).

So, what's the verdict? Should I go for LS2 from Laxmi Automobiles (www.ls2india.com)?
Fe questions that I have in mind after reading your post.
        1. Why SMK is removed as option?
        2. Just because someone died wearing an xyz helmet makes that helmet bad? People have died wearing AGV, Arai and Shoei, will that make those giant brands bad to buy. Dont believe by what others say, what is the proof that it as helmet at fault and not right upkeep of the race track?
        3. Go through this page and question again yourself. Are LS2 in India really genuine? https://www.xbhp.com/talkies/general...ne-fake-4.html

Quality. I personally checked out SMK at three different stores, and compared to other helmets, especially LS2, quality of SMK felt inferior. I also saw numerous posts and youtube videos stating the same.

I agree but if two of my tourer friends who buy costly helmets mounting to 10 to 15k say MT helmets is off their books, then the same goes for me.

I actually did. If you open that thread, I've posted there a couple of times. That research was done in 2014, and even then, the conclusion was LS2 helmets sold here in India are either original or original but made for the Chinese market. Regardless, they are actually made by LS2 themselves. So, if I'm buying one here, I just need to make sure the LS2 I get doesn't have Chinese writing on it. If it does have Chinese writing and doesn't carry any ECE stickers, etc., then obviously it's a "made for china" product. The LS2 helmets I checked out at those three stores were of superb quality and all of them had ECE stickers, certifications, etc. and hence felt original. I tried out quite a few models of LS2, and they seemed so much better than any other helmet there in that price range.

The reason I posted my post here was I wanted to know if anyone else had bought an LS2 helmet (in 2017 - it's been 3 years now) and what was their experience.

Nonetheless, I've ordered an LS2 FF320 Lunar off Myntra (at an excellent price of 4.9k after discount coupons, etc). It's on its way. The pics posted by them showed a genuine LS2, and if I'm not satisfied with the product and/or it turns out to be fake, I have 30 days to return it

I'll post a few pics after I've received it

I've personally got myself a LS2 FF386 somewhere in July/august from eBay and I've got the certification sticker on it too. One of my friend saw the sticker and said I am lucky to get an original and that too from eBay India. That's when I felt relief that it was original. And the FF386 had cost me 6.5K. I personally like the LS2 after the use. On weight it did feel A bit on heavier side yet quality feels superior than SMK, MT, etc...

I actually spoke to a friend of mine who is a lawyer. After getting to know the whole scenario and how standards of DOT & ECE are better he mentioned that a PIL can be filed in Supreme Court and speculated that it's makes a fair case. I am meeting him tomorrow and he'll let me know if he can help. I'll keep you posted.

Now thats a first for me, the quality you get at that price imo is not bad at all,

Then why not get those 10-15k helmets?? You are comparing a 15k helmets with MT, lets take Revenge series in this case, do you think the comparison is apt?

The research was done to show how ignorant the "only" dealer is when it comes to helmet, and still the questions has not been answered by the dealer , after 3 years. Nonetheless do check the strap to check the genuineness of the helmet and dont rely on stickers, I can get ISI sticker on AGV and Arai, and that wont make them ISI certified.

Also HJC still comes under 7k budget and that is way better than LS2, IMO

PS : All, LS2 "fashion" is over, please venture out more into the market than just this brand, there are plethora of options.

I crashed in a Mt revenge at 130 kmph few months back, it saved my head.
Its one of the safest helmet in market right now.

                      Hi,

I am looking for an upgrade from my old LS2 FF350. The budget is around 10-15k.

I currently have my heart set on the HJC FG-17. Are there any other helmets in that range that I should look at?

                        Hey guys.

I'm looking for a Helmet under the budget 10k for daily usage BUT I want something lightweight. Like something around 1kg or lesser than regular 1.5kg that's flooded in market.

Currently I own a LS2 (1.5kg) and a HJC (1.5kg again). My neck has issues already and I'm looking for something lighter on neck.

                        Any recommendation?

How the MT helmet? All 1.5kg?

You won't get a decent helmet under 1000g. Most helmets hover between 1300-1600g mark.
My Xlite is 1300g, given that it's a carbon filter helmet.
Single layer helmets are lighter but then you'll compromise on safety.
                          Cheers

It's exorbitantly priced in India but you can get it for around 30k from EU.

Well, I got my helmet from Myntra - FF320 Lunar, and so far from what I can tell, it's original. It's got the ECE sticker and everything on the back and on the strap. No chinese writings anywhere. The quality is top notch, and the import sticker on the box also says Laxmi Automobiles (the official distributor of LS2 in India). Here are some pics...

I also scanned the QR code, and it took me to the official LS2 website and asked me to register my helmet. So far, am quite happy

Edit: Got it weighed, courtesy of the friendly neighborhood kiryanawala

I saw the scale fluctuating between that and 1560, which is within the range mentioned on the helmet.
