This is regarding mt kre sv helmet. In spite of this being offered as a premium product of the company ,the helmet is not sharp tested (yet). The catalogue in Mt website shows the fastening as micrometric while the ones available in India has d-ring.the colour schemes seems to vary too.anyone has any long term review,or clarity on these aspects?

Re: Helmets
Compared to Mt blade..This one feels light on head (bt technically both are same weight).Wind noise also less.
Everything says premium on helmet from warranty card to The mt 3d logo and Exo lining
The Only negative is kre doesn't have sharp rating till now
Bt sharp rating are independently tested.
Pros-
Padding quality and fitting excellent
Visor mechanism easy to operate but can interfere with intercom if fixed on left side.

Re: Helmets
SHARP testing is not something necessary. Skip that part, that is only a region specific test that can also be easily cheated.Originally posted by Thamps View PostThis is regarding mt kre sv helmet. In spite of this being offered as a premium product of the company ,the helmet is not sharp tested (yet). The catalogue in Mt website shows the fastening as micrometric while the ones available in India has d-ring.the colour schemes seems to vary too.anyone has any long term review,or clarity on these aspects?
About micrometric and double D ring closures, MT helmets sold in India have double D ring closure since we as Indians are much obsessed by double D ring closure even on a basic polycarbonate shell. These are made in China, I can not trace where the others are made.
They are all genuine MT helmets, the ones sold in Indian market lack quality, fit and finish.
I would highly recommend LS2 ff323, HJC CL17 and ScorpionEXO 390/420 in that price range.
Also the accessories and spares of MT are quite costly.

This difference in quality is bugging.i remember reading about manufacturing of different shells for different markets in some other thread.just wanted some clarity.Originally posted by MidnightEvil Parth View PostAbout micrometric and double D ring closures, MT helmets sold in India have double D ring closure since we as Indians are much obsessed by double D ring closure even on a basic polycarbonate shell. Re: Helmets
I am myself looking for a helmet under 8-9k and didn't even consider MT for the same quality reasons. None of my friends are happy with MT.Originally posted by Thamps View PostThis difference in quality is bugging.i remember reading about manufacturing of different shells for different markets in some other thread.just wanted some clarity.

Re: Helmets
The quality can be forgiven if it's for padding and stuff..but regarding safety... separate manufacturing of shells for different countries..it's different.cant comment if there is some logistics angle or so.why this difference when the certifications remains same for all countries.Originally posted by MidnightEvil Parth View PostI am myself looking for a helmet under 8-9k and didn't even consider MT for the same quality reasons. Re: Helmets
I recently got Mt atom and got it after a lot of research and must say that it's quality is really very nice. Though I can review it after using it properly.
BTW it's polycarbonate shell and no DD rings.

Re: Helmets
MT atom, I didn't like the liners. They are not at par with helmets from LS2. But then, not many choices in modular helmets.Originally posted by VivekRj.Dieselhead View PostI recently got Mt atom and got it after a lot of research and must say that it's quality is really very nice. I am looking for ECE certification and a fiberglass shell or even a polycarbonate in variable shell sizes. (MT shies in providing different shell sizes to Indian market, really a shame)
Exactly what I pointed out. Re: Helmets
Ls2 is way too inferior, I was eying for ls2 ff324 which sell for 8.5 in India and 13 in US. After looking at the quality of things they are using in Indian helmets I moved to MT (after thorough research of quality obviously ). Ls2 don't even have ece ratings printed (they just got a sticker which I can remove and put on my studds[emoji12]) and no DOT certification. I saw scorpion as well, at North of 12 grands it was little out of budget, smk was piece of crap.Originally posted by MidnightEvil Parth View PostMT atom, I didn't like the liners. Finally came back to MT atom, polycarbonate shell, medium size easily available, it's tight fit to me and I like that.
It's got dot and ece both and they are printed. Modular mechanism is really very nice.
Soon I'll upload full review video of this helmet on my channel with unbiased feedback.Regards

I would say you never did a thorough research then sir.Originally posted by VivekRj.Dieselhead View PostLs2 is way too inferior, I was eying for ls2 ff324 which sell for 8.5 in India and 13 in US. ECE doesn't need to be printed, firstly. I do not need it printed at all, a sticker is better infact. It should come with the standard ECE print booklet.
Secondly DOT is a honorary and a very inferior standard, I don't even want DOT written on my helmet ! It is that inferior.
Keeping LS2 at side for no DOT ? I would call this a half baked research honestly.
Atom is a good helmet though, but nothing close to LS2 quality.

Re: Helmets
Moving on from Polycarbonate shells. Any recommendations for fibreglass?
I just want to try on the fibreglass tech. Wont probably buy it for regular use but would sure like to know the differences, advantages and disadvantages over omnipresent polycarb shells.

Re: Helmets
Polycarbonate shells do not dissipate forces completely and so tend to tear apart with a single or two cracks on impact.Originally posted by a_shirke8 View PostMoving on from Polycarbonate shells. Any recommendations for fibreglass?

Fiberglass shells spread the forces and get multiple cracks on impact, spreading the forces completely.
The disadvantage is that fiberglass shells are costlier to manufacture.
For fiberglass under 10k, there is an option from Zeus which is not available currently, LS2 ff323 is available but in simple graphics, graphics ones cost way above. Hope it helps.
The second thing to look at is EPS, a multiple density EPS is better, hard EPS for harsh impacts and the softer one for slow speed or lighter impacts.
A single density EPS is mostly used for cost cutting measures.
Now bringing this again to LS2 ff324 and MT atom, LS2 gets a multiple density EPS while MT gets a single one as per SPG.
Both helmets are made from Polycarbonate (forget the word wizardry on their sites, it's polycarbonate)Last edited by MidnightEvil Parth; 10-03-2018, 03:09 PM.
