From one perspective that can be true. But when i think about quality I am not even sure my cross which is worth 3500+ is good enough. I mean it looks good feels good and every visible component is really grt. it has ECER certification which i checked and find out to be European standard. But its a sticker and who knows if its really certified or not. I have never seen a cross website so cant ever verify who is the manufacturer or in which country it is manufactured. Still the overall feel of helmet and comparo with other reputed brands like agv give me a gut feeling that it cant be very bad. but same may not be the case with a cheaper version as i really don't see cross as a highly reputed brand. my point is, its not like AGV or Arai or Shark bringing a cheaper version

Our biker friends who are really pressed for money can go for some good proven ISI certified brands rather than gambling with a cheaper version of cross or any such brands....

Just my perspective..wt u think lijo

Rightly said bro... sometime even I doubt my 7k AGV when I see other cheaper LS2s which have removable padding. Anyway, I'll check them out next week and comment if they are really good, or some cheap replicas...

NOT AT ALL... I thought it to be studds only

Very good point man. Ive not bought a Cross only because I have no idea who is manufacturing it. Ive tried out a few and really liked the feel & quality, heard good reviews from fellow Xbhpians but at the end of the day I would not have complete peace of mind if I bought one. Which is why I prefer recommending MPA AGVs and other 'known' brands. No offence to anyone with a Cross.

              • For everyone's info, for DOT certification there is no compulsory test per se. Any manufacturer can just put a "DOT" sticker if they feel it will pass the test. The DOT authorities can just pick one of the commercially sold pieces and test them to see if they match DOT standards. The safest by far are the ECE and Snell certified helmets. But again Snell2005 and Snell2010 standards vary is some aspects. The threshold for Snell2005 standard in some tests are higher than the 2010 standard i.e. better protection for us. In some tests the ECE had higher limit than Snell2005 but lower in some other tests. SBK owners especially should look into all these things.

Even was going to Ask the Same Question DOT certified according to above post is good in US not in India then we know how people can add Stickers that's why i have been looking to stick to a Vega High End or a Studds.DOT approved is it a sticker Applied in the back or a embedded one

Certainly not. Although the catch is, the lid must be tested by DOT to make it really DOT certified. I'm saying this particularly for Cross users(including me) because we have no clue who makes these lids. Sadly it has come down to users testing helmets by themselves after buying one..

Exactly the reason why im worried. There is no way DOT would test some helmet sold in India. DOT helmet is mandatory in US, ECE in EU. Here we have ISI but have no idea what kind of tests they do on these helmets.

                      • @ adi231189 - The high end vega helmets actually doesnt have a certification. If you carefully see, there will be a sticker stuck on the back side or some times there wont be one.

Even V for Vega is not an US company. The helmets are made in China. LOL.

Check here Background to Vega motorcycle helmets

@ Samyaza - Only a couple of companies actually do the R&D themselves. Rest of the companies actually buy the helmets from manufactures and brand it under them. Ex- the new Vega/studds/Cross etc etc. Basically all these helmets are manufactured in China. Even HJC,Scorpion and KBC Lids are manufactured only in China. Now how good is that to hear.

The Basic shell design will be the same except for the materials used and the detailing and designs.

If there is a requirement of say 100 KBC/HJC/Scorpion helmets, we can buy them whole sale from manufactures for lesser than best close out deals. (even during a close out deals, the stores make profit)

Say a 30 dollar helmet when end up in an online super stores, it is sold for 200 $. This is not only in Lids, for all the manufacturing items. The manufacturing policy of China is to have 1$ profit and sell 1000 quantities rather than having 10$ profit and sell 100 quantities. This is why the world is running after them for manufacturing.

                          • No helmet can be determined until and unless you've tried the fit and comfort. If you've done so and are getting a better bargain on e-bay, go for it!!!!
