  • hello,
    I stay in Khar West,Mumbai.
Is there any helmet shop close by ? Or maybe in Oshiwara/Versova/Andheri ?
I am looking for one under 3k.
I already have a tinted LS2 but need a helmet with a clear visor for night/rains.
Do open face helmets provide protections against rains ? I wear glasses so need them covered otherwise they get wet and I can't see a thing.
    Ride Safe :)

It's shifted temporay now take a left then again take a left (don't take left from road it's before the road just a small gate for a building complex).
You will not find many options there it's just a accessories shop.(you can get rossi caps and t-shirts there i bought t-shirt from there).

You can try A.H. helmets in Andheri-west

Please tell me if the open face helmets will help protect my face in the rain.I understand they are not too safe,so I won't think about them till i see a really nice piece. Can extend my budget to 4 maybe.
Thanks a ton and PM me your number.

verral in mumbaiG2G thread is visiting AH helmets tomarrow he is asking for company, you can join him.
i would never go for openface helmets then it depends how comfortable you are in openface helmet, b
ut you are willing to 3-4k go for fullface helmets.
Try it yourself but there are hardly any good models in openface lids.
what difference will it make in rain if it is full face or open face lid.

Like @sagarraikar said. From rain, open face or full face are same. More important is do they shut properly where the visor meets the shell on the forehead portion. Most cheaper ones have gaps and water seeps inside the visor. Expensive ones are properly shut and no water seeps in.

Regarding open face, there are some good ones. Though a bit expensive. Got one for my cousin just a few days back for 9k. There is a sort of a rubber lining running the entire length of the forehead portion that completely shuts when visor is pulled down making seepage impossible. I posted a picture two pages back.

I use both full face and open face, depending on where I'm riding. If you plan to keep just one. A full face will be a better option.

I finally ended up buying a clear visor for my LS2.And also learnt how to remove the inner padding completely.
Was I cheated for 650 for a clear LS2 visor ? The only thing i liked abt funky's at Bandra was that they didn't force me to buy a new helmet when I asked them for an opinion and were happy selling me a clear visor instead.
                  Thank you both.

@sheelpriye: Fine with both. Prefer buying at a store as can check the fit. But I have tried all the popular brands and the M size seems to fit me just fine.
@Puneet: have seen the Shark ones, they seem to be good. I would prefer a modular one at this time cos of the convinience they offer while touring.

                            • Anurag is wearing a cool Shoei modular, it is a plain one too. The cost should be somewhere between 15-18K(I guess)
                              DSG stocks Shoei's too.

Would advise you to pay a visit to Bombay/Pune and check out PRS(Arai/Joe ROcket/HJC/KBC/SparX)

                              DSG(Shoei/Marushin/AGV/Suomy/Nolan/Daijya)

                              Bachoo(agv/R Jays)

I too went over to Bombay(PRS) to pick my stuff.
