    • ^^whoa! your lid was awesome ... this is goin too far , ppl stealin our helmets ... . i tried to post it as attachments , it said security token missing so can't be processed ... , i've put up one pic of it on my profile album ... it's on par with the MPA-AGV i think , although i really haven't had any long experience with the MPA-AGV ... it's lighter than the MPA i guess , mine is 1200gm + or - 50gm

I had seen some more designs on the sub 2k range in cross and frankly it didn't look good at all , look like a rip off the original ...

      • One suggestion guys, carry your helmets everywhere you go. I know its inconvenient, but at least you're sure the helmet's safe, and the chances of some twit scratching your visor/nicking it is zero.

Even I will buy a Vega LS2 soon, and will also buy a backpack with a helmet compartment.
        You get the point?? :D

        • I never leave my helmet on the motorcycle, though I have a 30mm cutter proof cable lock lying around. Bought a soft helmet bag around three years ago, and always carry my helmet with me. At first it seems inconvenient, but then it will becomes a habit - so much so that I feel strange when I am not carrying my helmet bag around.

Besides the risk of getting your helmet stolen, leaving your lid on the bike makes it prone to bumps and nicks by other riders in a public parking.

Talking of helmets reminds me that my Lid is due for a replacement soon - looks brand new, but is four years old already.

You had an Arai and from various sources my understanding is Arai & Shoei are very different as far as containing head-mass go, one is very kind to oval shaped head & the other not so, (forgot as to which is which).

Another Arai? Try a Shoei & spot the difference & update us please.

^^Buy costly helmet & you will always carry it with you, I do.

While I am an Arai fan due to its amazing comfort and fit, I am tempted to try out Shoei or Shark as well. These days all similar price helmets are good and I am questioning Arai's innovation in the recent past. I haven't seen anything new to come out of the Arai stables in a long time. Their RX-7 was updated by the Corsair, and they look the same to me, really, save a few vents.

Shoei has updated their best selling X-11 with the X-12, and I might go for that one this time.

Yes, buying an expensive helmet makes sure you take good care of it!

              • Although all DOT certified helmets shall provide the same protection even if there is a huge difference in pricing, you shall know its value by discovering how quiet & comfy your rides have become.
IMHO(except safety wise) Arai & Shoei are at top & rest lag behind. My SparX is a revelation for me

What I like about Japanese brands is consistency, albeit at premium pricing. All the helmets in their line up will be top notch - unlike other brands where one helmet sweeps all awards while the rest of their products are average. This is one of the reasons why getting into the Arai/Shoei club makes you look around for credit card companies with cheaper interest rates.

You're right - protection is now at a similar level in most $400 helmets, but comfort/noise protection and fit really narrows it down to your choice.

                  • hey i just bought a cross helmet from some shop called helmet world or helmet paradise or something from jc road. paid 2.2k for it. with blue and black graphics. ill post pictures of it as soon as possible but i have a doubt. the helmet says large. it fits perfectly. but apparently that was the only size and model which will fit me. does large in cross mean large in agv also or is it medium or something? i couldnt find my size even in ls2. whats the smallest size in agv, ls2, sparx etc available in bangalore and where can i find one? thanks

In the good ol' pre-GP One / Index helmet days, I used to be the only one around who used to carry my MPA Sting helmet all the time. Like Bluevolt said, once you start doing it, you feel wierd when youre not carrying it.

It sure does mate. I picked up a Shoei RF-1000 recently, and boy oh boy! Is it comfortable or what..... It fits my head and feels as comfy as putting ur head on ur favourite pillow. And the noise cancellation is simply awesome! And this in an old model. The new Rf-1100 and the X-12 are simply superb. I compared them with a few of HJC/Scorpion/7-0-7/Icon and they just didn't live up to it. Only the Arai's were comparable and a few much better too given that they r all in the same league.

                        • Another Scorpion

My search for a modular helmet has led me back to Scorpion. Will soon have a Scorpion EXO 900 to give company to my EXO 1000 full face.

Costed me about USD 270 inclusive of shipping to a friend who will carry it with him.
A few reasons for choosing this one
                          1. I already own a Scorpion and have tried the EXO 900 at a store in Sydney. The fit is fantastic. The only other helmet which fits as well was a Shoei.
                          2. The EXO 900 has an inner sun visor - so I wont have to carry a seperate visor. This was something I certainly wanted.
                          3. Air fit system. This ensures a good fit and blocks out most of the noise.
                          4. Very innovative concept - Can be converted to an open face when I wish to ride an Enfield etc.
                          5. Good enough reviews and within Budget.

Bought it on ebay. I have been planning on a KBC / Sparx for a while now & have tried out several different models in Orion Motors, Koramangala. Hence I knew the size .
