I saw a fellow xBhpian's HJC FS-15 this past weekend, and simply loved it. The padding was better than that on the SparX S07.Originally posted by malliah View PostHJC is very good brand, I am not a great fan of their lower range, the ones in the 200+ USD range are very good. HJC also manufactures helmets for Joe Rocket and Harley Davidsons
I am one big fan of Scorpion Helmets. I have 2 of them, a full face EXO 1000 and a modular EXO 900. Both these are their top end helmets and are simply brilliant in fit and finish. I am tempted to compare them with the Arai's and Shoei's. Most importantly - they are fabulous value for money.
Both my helmets have the Scorpion Air fit system. There is a small pump which can be used give a nice snug fit.
I have looked at the Scorpion Exo 400s, but need to look at the Exo 1000 & Exo 900. My budget being a max og USD 125, I might not get these.
Anyways, hope I get a good helmet.
Thanks for your mini-review.

I checked the LS2 unfortunately it doesnot fit me right. It moves around despite wearing it properly. I liked the way the Studds and Vega Fitted me it was slightly tight but thats how helmets are supposed to fit.Originally posted by abh1nav View Postyes. it has a dual visor. a black one on the inside and a clear visor on the outside. though i dont use the inner one much but it looks cool!

Exactly. it would feel a bit tight for the first time but after a couple of days it'll be fine. i too liked the vega shadow but the dealer here was quoting 4.5k for it which i feel is bit high as it is available for a lesser price, as people have mentioned in this thread. both studds 'n vega are good.. all depends on your choice.Originally posted by freekoo View PostI checked the LS2 unfortunately it doesnot fit me right. Import duties on Helmets?
Guys, does anyone know the import duty (& other taxes) levied on helmets?
I'm asking this because, a helmet with MSRP of USD 149.95 (approx INR 6,750), is being sold at Suzuki (two-wheeler) dealerships here for INR 22,004!!
Their reasoning for the exorbitantly high price is that Suzuki has leaglly imported the helmets, & its is duty paid.

Even if it legally imported, wondering how much percentage of tax being charged. If I'm not wrong it cannot be more than 150%Originally posted by tibby View PostGuys, does anyone know the import duty (& other taxes) levied on helmets?

If a friend brings the helmet along, then it is free.
If you are getting it shipped from abroad, then the post office will charge you duty based on the declared value of the parcel.
For example, I had to pay around 400 for a parcel with a declared value of $100, but it was not a helmet.
But the post office does not always charge duty, I'm not sure why. I have gotten over 20 parcels from the US and have been charged duty for 5-6 only.
If you can get the declared value on the package to be put as a low amount (say $20) then no duties payable. Tried this method quite a few times.200 | 300 | 1200 BOXER

Exactly my thoughts, hence the post.Originally posted by SriramEfunds View PostEven if it legally imported, wondering how much percentage of tax being charged. If I'm not wrong it cannot be more than 150%

Not intending to be rude, that is general gyaan. Doesn't answer my query (specific to duty levied on helmets).Originally posted by tanay View PostIf a friend brings the helmet along, then it is free.

Do you have an idea on the duty that will be generally levied (not talking about duty evasion tactics/ideas here. Need the duty percentages for information sake) on import of a helmet [above duty free limits (if any)]?
