Considering that he's going wading in shin high water, what protection do you think he will need? LOL!

But seriously prince, I agree with you! Sub 10k everything leaks - try the SIDI Adventure Rain or AStar Ridge - not a drop comes through. I've used them both and they're very good but very hot for regular use. Protection with water-proofing will cost you plenty it seems.

@ Sanjay - Suggest you avoid the JR's. I think PRS themselves would suggest the SIDI's instead.

is it good for leh and the regular touring use?? could you give a review, i think we only get this in mumbai at performance racing store.
From what I've experienced RJays and Joe Rocket stuffs are more or less the same in quality wise.

If you're looking for waterproof boots with a budget, why don't you go for the RJays Sprint Boot. Comes in at around INR 4999. But now since it's on a special offer sale, you can get it for INR 3999 if you hurry and if you're really interested.

            Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
            The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Yes it would be good. But during, Leh, you might need a full ankle boot, because waters there would be close to your ankle while crossing streams and little water ponds. So it's wise to invest in a full ankle water-proof boot. This is water proof too, but if you keep you water in such deep water with this shoe water is surely gonna sink it.

Else you can wear a gum boot. Many Leh riders find it cheap and effective too. You can use these when you enter a vulnerable water laden area, and then switch to Sprint boot or any normal waterproof boot.

                    Cheers!

Dude - the conditions will not allow you to switch boots every time you come across water. Waterproof boots that don't go up till the shins at least will not serve any purpose in water crossings. That said, most riders manage Leh without any special footwear - the most common being our desi Timberlands!

Exaclty Sunny ji, but you got me wrong. I meant, the use of gumboots throughout the trip, and get back to wearing a normal waterproof boot out of the Leh area, when returning back. Not swapping to and fro when riding in and around the viccinity of the pass. Leh riders would grenade me for that idea, for sure.

I've heard from many Leh guys who climb with a normal boot, with just boot rain cover over them, and some with just gum boots alone coupled with pillion.

                          Cheers!
