    • Rjays, DSG have Made In Pakistan badge.
Maybe its cheaper for them to get it done there, like the made in china for many other products.

      Cheers

if that's true, then not only leather but denims/textiles and armors must be cheaper there as well :P

          • Posting pics of my DSG gloves, dont know why but right hand ones are torn and feels like a cloth, but LH one is intact. May be because of excessive riding in rains, it used to become hard once it was dry.
How should I take care of it ? I will get new pair in next week.

There is two reasons which can be called as prime reasons. One being, usage, and here is why, since we throttle on the right hand, the leather takes some wear related to the twisting motion. Second, the reason the holes getting bigger, is for the same reason. The holes which are present in your gloves are meant for ventilation, with repeated usage, plus twisting forces involved with throttle it's obvious that your glove has a gaping hole

Regarding leather, yes, leather in Pakistan is one of the best and some leading companies even make leather suits from leather sourced from Pakistan or made in Pakistan. Pak leather is one of the best in the world, plus cheap labor associated with it, gives the manufacturing a significant edge coupled with cheap prices. That is the same reason why even brands in US have "Made in Pakistan". It takes a fraction of the cost involved getting stuff manufactured in China provided with the quality these guys offer.

              Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
              The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Even I thought the same, but its too much worn out. Any tips on what to do in rains ? It becomes damn hard once it dries up, am afraid one day it might crumble

Leather tends to get fuzzy and sloppy without care, especially gloves. Get yourself a new glove. If you intend to use this glove for time time being. Get a good waterproof rubber glove in the meantime, should cost you 50 to 60 bucks and wear this glove on top of your leather glove.

                  Cheers!

                  • Any DSG Rage users?

                    Hi all,
I'm about to buy my first real riding jacket and a pair of gloves. I was thinking about getting DSG Rage (a red one to go with my red zma), but I read in one of the user posts on the other bhp site that DSG Rage is a bit flimsy (if you google the jacket's name with word flimsy, the post shows up in one of the first few pages). Does anyone here have any experience with Rage? Any opinion on how it compares with DSG Nero or any other jacket in the armor quality/jacket material quality/durability department? I am not concerned about the jacket's rain proofing or winter protection.

But don't want to get something which has sub-par protection or something which will be uncomfortable in summer (or becomes too smelly when its hung on the back of your office chair! It shouldn't become a sweat-smell-beacon in just a couple of 25 miles office rides any opinion on this area will be helpful too) - so confused between the two. If the Rage offers almost similar protection as Nero (say 75%?), I'll go for DSG Rage itself. I know these questions are a bit absurd, so please pardon my ignorance. Any suggestions on the gloves would also be very helpful. If you have any other suggestions for jacket/glove, please pitch in then too.

I am not too keen on looking Spartan jacket only because I can't try it in person in Bangalore, and will involve the work of getting it shipped/try/return in the worst case scenario. The same decision goes for Scoyco, as the distributor in Bangalore has no jackets in stock. So remaining options are either DSG or Swift.

                    Please advise and thanks!

The above posts are derived from aggregation of opinions of several xBhp ZMA riders, based on personal experience/common sense. Please be advised that some things might differ from manufacturer's recommendations.

Forgive me, but all the info you need is right here in this thread. You were humble enough to mention you googled flimsy with DSG and got some crazy results, if you did the same with xBhp, DSG Rage review, you'd get the results you'd need.

The reason I am reiterating this is, so so so many users have been asking the same all over, and it's really cumbersome to reiterate everything all over again, which is more or less stale.

Appreciate your query, I understand you're a newbie into the jacket thingy, but it'd be real good if you can go back a few pages, slowly, you'd get all the info you want, in one piece!

                      Thanks!

                      Cheers!

                        • Hi guys,

Bought a super sweet Cramster Meteor today at a mind blowing price of Rs2500/-

How you ask? Well let me tell you all the saga of how I bought said jacket! If you wanna bail then this is the point cause this might be a long read!

Now, the story is generally simple. Guy goes to shop. Sees awesome jackets. Tries out one he likes. Since it fits, he asks for his favourite colour, buys and leaves going on long tours in awesome weather ending up in Himalaya and posting pictures on facebook which each get a 1000 likes!

Except things are never so simple are they?

To start with, I had no clue where they sold motorcycle jackets. So starting from this thread I ratted out 4 places in Bangalore which stocked the jackets. Personally went to 3 of these places. Tried out jackets at 2 of these places and did not like any of them (my god so tight! freaking hell so heavy!)! Bad start then... At this point I just wanted a jacket, but I had not done much survey into what kind. So I asked myself what kind did I really want? Now I go on looong rides every Sunday!!! No I am kidding I go on long rides once every 4 months and I have never gone on a Sunday breakfast ride since on Sunday mornings I have cheap, subsidised and convenient breakfast in the hostel mess. I don't have money to spare, so I wanted a cheap jacket. And I wanted a jacket which I could use for everything, not only for riding once in 4 months. That meant wearing it in the rain and cold even when am riding a modest 10km in the city. So I wanted a jacket which would keep me warm (thermal liner then) dry (rain liner then) and safe (all sorts of protectors?). But above all i wanted a jacket I would be able to use even regularly, since there is no place for one purpose clothing in my wallet. People here suggested (to other people) to go for mesh with said liners. Has everything they said! But the primary use of mesh is to keep you cool. Not keep you warm. Or dry. But i again went and tried out a few mesh jackets and boy are they heavy!!! How am I ever going to be able to use these for my one type fits all purpose plan? Also there are so few colour options in mesh, it is mostly black! And they are popular, end result? See the ISG2G 2012 @ Chikmaglur group photo, looks like with the T-shirt they all got the jackets as well designed! (just kidding guys, am crying that I wasn't able to make it this year )

Then I came across the Cordura type of motorcycle jacket! Mesh and Cordura work in different ways to protect the rider. Whereas on sliding and contact with the pavement, mesh is supposed to melt into the strands and form a hard protective shell/plate to save the skin, cordura fabric on the other hand is supposed to withstand harder stresses and resist tear. The quality of cordura is described in terms of deniers (kinda density?) or D, so a 600D cordura is lighter than 800D or a 1680D cordura. I felt that these are just the type of jacket that I wanted. A suitably heavy cordura not only gives ample protection against accidents but also protects against weather! So what's the caveat you ask? There always is one isn't it? Nothing is ever perfect goddamnit! Cordura is supposed to be very hot. People here said that you will get cooked in it. That your sweat will generate an independent microbial ecosystem in the time you reach your office! Scary scenario's to say the least. I still felt that cordura suited my needs perfectly. But how does that fit into my one type suits all purpose plan? I thought that I will remove all liners and all protectors for use in city and use jacket + protector + suitable liner on the highway. Simple enough.

Except that where-ever I looked Cordura jackets were all so damn costly

I meant xBhp, eBay, Quickr was a precursor for your purchase right Yes I understand your jacket is "stale" but still, someone somewhere can get some insights, right. I mean even though the stuff remains the same in the jacket, it'd give others some idea when they intend to purchase a jacket which resembles yours
