No they are not, neither is it a thicker fabric, that's why I said its worthless.

No, it wasn't. If you go back, I said, "what I see" everywhere, and that's the reason I mentioned Kevlar. And all that followed I just wanted him to get the idea of basic protection he wanted. So be it armored jeans or proper riding pants, it's completely upto one's temperament

Orazo boots are an all-around safety shoes with steel toes and everything but you have to get used to it when riding as they are kinda bulky like one of them Woodland jobs.Orazo boots come in UK sizes which is same as Indian sizes,if you use Bata shoes, then it is exactly the same size. Alpinestar as you know comes in European sizes. I got couple of picutres for you in case anybody is interested.

Oh no, that isn't a valid reason to not to go for. I know friends who literally have, pencil legs, or broomstick legs, and they wear knee guards without any problem. Velcro length is the main issue for them. If velcro is a problem for you, get an extra velcro from local shop and get it stitched to existing piece.

If you can extend your budget to 1000 bucks more, it'd buy you some "real" riding gear. You can get a good leather glove as cheap as 1700 and knee guards at a combo for 2500. There is this FOX knee and elbow guard set, which costs some 649 bucks in eBay, of course they aren't genuine, but considering your price point, it should fall in that category real well.

BIKING ELBOW & KNEE GUARD- SET OF 4 PCS-FOX RIDING GEAR | eBay

But I'd say, go for good leather glove. It may be a tad costlier, but your hands will thank you if you happen to take a slip.

          Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
          The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Sixth point, is nothing but common discretion. Not all sold in eBay is fake, but knowing which to go for is the ball game. Invest in Thor kneepads, and from a genuine distributor, have read some really good reviews. But for your office use I'd suffice you go for genuine Cramster knee guard and a riding pant for that spirited days. If you worry about fakes in eBay, trust me, just go ahead with Cramster, you'll do just fine.

Also, try investing in a riding jeans if you're a JEANIE And why in jeans, is answered for the below question.

            Hope I kept it short!

Thanks for the detailed reply VJ - I plan to make a 'mega-trip' in various shorooms in/around Delhi and try DSG and Cramster pants and knee guards to decide and buy one.. Will prefer to buy just the knee guards for now if they fit below jeans.. I also intend to buy a tankbag for small weekend trips so will also look at Cramster and some other bags in the showrooms... Will share my feedback once I get something but it will probably be a while before I can plan the visit..

Thanks jkhan - will checkout Cramster and DSG pants to check their fitting - no point in buying them before trying them for fit and comfort.

tusharxtreme - Mahalaxmi and Chopra are the two famous shops in Karol Bagh (on Arya Samaj Road - both are almost next to each other - let me know if you need addres/location pointer) famous for stocking such things. They have fake Axo Raptor knee guards - available for around Rs. 600-650 - but felt quite flimsy. A word of caution though - on my last visit there, I saw most shops were stocking ProBiker and Alpinestar Gloves and jackets - all of the ones I saw were fakes, and I would definitely not recommend a fake in case of such basic gear no matter the price - so please buy a good quality, genuine stuff from authorised dealers only... For Alpinestar, look at Planet DSG - they also have a couple of dealers in NCR.

It is better than the reebok. Orazo which many of us have in this thread is of similar build. It may not have much ankle protection, but the toe protection and grip levels should be good.
If no riding boot purchase is possible, go for it over the jogging shoe.

The boot link you've shown me is the type of boot they use for Industrial, cum nowadays it's become kind of a cult signal, say like those Caterpillar boots. But something that's called "BOOT" is well worth those jogging shoes, at least for the long run.

Now I myself use my Bata Power shoes just for local commutes, and hate to wear my riding boot, except it's out of my town. But these boots have the practicality plus they offer more protection than the ordinary jogging shoe. Yes, jogging shoes makes you look cool, no doubt about it, experienced it

But boots win over jogging shoes hands down, anyday!

                      Cheers!
