  • Friends,

I am not sure whether this is the right place to post my query.

I need help with getting a lock to prevent petrol theft for my bike. Also, need a lock or an alarm setup to prevent vehicle theft especially when I am on tour.

Which is the best shop in Bangalore to get such petrol/vehicle theft preventive systems.

    Appreciate your help.

Now is it like that only, or will my experience get better with more rides with the gloves??
I can't comment on the gloves because I don't know what model or even if you bought an original pair but rest assured that most riders need some time to get accustomed to the use of gloves. It is a common complaint that tactility and feedback is lost with the use of gloves, but let me assure you it is only a transient phase that will pass soon.

Once you get used to gloves which are a very important piece of safety gear, you will find it difficult to ride without!

Thanks for the assurance Sunny.. Will see how quickly will I get Accustomed with..
BTW, I think I bought a size smaller than required.. It's a L size, and Although it fits well, but while operating, I can feel some pressure at the tip of the fingers.

        • Guys, I'm sort of confused! I'm looking forward to buying my first biking jacket. I've narrowed down to two options, 1. DSG Nero and the 2. Spartian Helios. Going through the last few pages of the thread I've gathered that it gets too hot in the DSG to ride in summers and that it is quite a heavy jacket. And the Helios doesn't come with thermal lining. I'm going to be doing at least 4-5 long rides this winter and I'm wondering if the spartan can keep me warm during those morning rides. Can the water-resistant lining provided with the helios be used as a thermal lining in winter or does it make you sweat in the jacket?.
Could somebody clear my doubts so that I can decide on which jacket to go for?! Thanks in advance

The HELIOS is primarily a hot weather jacket mesh jacket.

The rain liner in the HELIOS can be used as a windcheater in colder weather but it is not quilted. You can buy a separate thermal liner for the jacket which zips into the same chassis as the rain liner for Rs.700 extra but this can easily be substituted with your own base thermal layer worn under the rain liner.

Many riders have used the HELIOS to Ladakh in this way without any problems at all.

Incidentally, the HELIOS now comes with the option of KNOX armor in the elbows and shoulders for Rs.700 extra, so if I were you, I would spend the extra money on the upgraded armor.

There are many locks for petrol such as ignition key combination lock or a separate key lock itself. It should be available in most spare part shops. But in doing so, make sure you don't go for cheap locks as they are easy to manipulate. Search a little and get a good one, open the stuff and check out to make sure it's worth it.

Yes, a Mesh jacket can provide good wind protection and windchill protection. I've work nothing but windcheater in my jacket at temperatures upto 4 to 5 degrees, with good warmth, I didn't even use the thermal liner. So it is a good proposition to go for something cheap and valuable.

@Sunny, that seems a super prop, so for thermal and KNOX we need to chuck extra right for the Helios?

                Cheers!

Yes it's possible to buy the thermal liner separately as an option even after purchase of the jacket. Most riders don't use their liners and it.would be just forcing them to shell out more. So in this way, you only buy it if you really need it.

Spartan ProGear has signed up with Planet Knox as an OE supplier of CE rated armor inside Spartan apparel and gear. This is being offered initially as an option before a complete transition to a complete Knox standard.

Super like! So does that mean, any price hike in the jacket if it were to be upgraded to KNOX?

                    Cheers!

No no, I read your post. So if I were to buy the HELIOS jacket and KNOX (no stock armor) I shall shell out 6200. Because, the HELIOS is sold for 5.5k with the stock armor. So if I go for the KNOX plus the jacket, it should cost 5.7k right (considering KNOX is 700) or still 6200?

                        Cheers!

i don't know how you arrived at your calculations. Hope you're not in accounting!

Helios with Knox elbows and shoulders = Rs.6200/-. Hope that is clear enough!

                              Raghu,

Most of the anti-theft systems will void your warranty - as they need to be installed by cutting wires.
Here is something you can take a look at
                              1. :: 2 Wheeler Alarm with Remote Start Systems ::

Since I hate chopping up my bike , I use a Xena disk lock. (It is not available in India - but you will get similar items on Ebay)
