True that. Finally got pics of construction of Phaeton and liked it(more than the plain Twister). Just wondering whether Cramster Blaster was a flop. Seems to be good for the price but hardly got to read any reviews.

Cramster Twister is a good, okay-ish glove. It was just reviewed a few pages back with some photos by a friend and member by the name of Christoxbhp.

      The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

      • Well now a days the bad happening with me made me a bit of conscious about Gears.

So to start on. Hows this body armor ?
Fox Riding Jacket cum Body Armour | eBay

        The price seems decent.
Do I need to put on elbow guard after this armor ?
(well the pic shows there is something near elbow too in Jacket)

        And for Knee protection.

I need some suggestion because these days I'm already out of money with the Over Expenses of Bike repair. :/

And is there a shop in Mumbai where I can go, try on the Size & buy ?
A 100-200 up & down is Okay but then atleast I'll have the flexibility to check.

          In a word - JUNK!

Dont mean to offend but this thread has lots of info on suitable gear. Spend some time reading to familiarise yourself. Trust me, a crash will cost you more money to repair yourself than your bike. If I were you, I would park my bike till I could afford to get myself some decent gear.

          • I know gears are something that's so necessary these days.
            But parking the bike ?
Believe it or not, If I don't ride Bike for 1-2 days I feel so frustrated, irritated and incomplete.

For gears. Why is it waste ?
            Don't save ?

The reason I was looking for cheap ones are most of the time I go college and a bit of here & there only in Mumbai. So wont be using it.
No tour from last 5 months in Mumbai, I'll start tour again once I shift back to my home (Delhi) in next 7-8 months.
And I'm gonna use it for Touring only. Using them for daily purpose is a hassle + seems flaunting to other people.
And whose gonna explain them the whole scenario behind wearing them .:/

P.S. = I was going through the pages and looking for something @ decent price. Because most of the time I buy something & then try to sell it off.
But I though maybe I should post too about what I think is good.

Forget what others insist when it comes to safety. It's your bike, your head and your body. You only get them, sealed once. Invest in a good pair of riding gear.

              • The way i see it, if someone is justifying not buying or wanting to wear gears because what the 3rd man might comment or how you would explain it to them is just an excuse. It's not worth the risk of putting your body at stake if a fall or spill is to occur. Then these 3rd men will give you their sympathy, but how good is that for healing your body. Not so good i'd say.

And the fox armour you mentioned, it's a waste. Not good quality, for that price you might be able to get good quality second hand mesh jackets or with raising the budget by 1-2k you can get a new one.

The knee and elbow guards from e-bay are fake , but they do the job fairly decently, so no harm in investing in them, for the knee guards that is, i would suggest a good riding jacket for elbow and back and abrasion protection.

And if the search option on the forum is used you will find that we have a lot of reviews and critics on the same products which you mentioned and which is going to be advised to you in the future too.

it's always in your best interest when you invest good bucks on good riding gears.

                Cheers Mate

If you can see the Fox Armour and compare it to the other ones that are being discussed in the thread, you can see the difference yourself. The fake fox is just a showpiece for wannabes. It will not give you any sort of protection during a crash.
Do save up and invest in a good set of gear - and use them irrespective of whether you are out on a daily commute or long distance tour. You certainly will attract glances and questions. But is it such a problem considering the protection you get?

                    • suggestion for jacket & knee guard

i've been following riding gear thread on xbhp for quite some time. Thanks to that, i've got myself an LS2 helmet and Revive gloves. I would like to get some textile gloves for < 1k as the leather ones are quite bulky to ride around the city. Are there any good options other than DSG Motomesh?

I am looking to complete my riding gear purchases of jacket and knee protectors also, but am unable to find any decent knee guards anywhere. Regarding jacket, after goin through this thread, Spartan Helios seems to be a good choice. Can anyone also give review of Royal Enfield textile jacket since it is the only one readily available in Hyderabad (though not in my size!), and also my bike is a bullet.

                      For knee guards these

seem to be good. Also, in case jacket of proper size is not available i am interested in this

though it is a bit out of my budget right now. As riding gear of good quality is not available here to the best of my knowledge, i might have to go to Bangalore for this purpose.
Any alternative suggestions are very much appreciated

                        • Dont know how releveant this is on this thread, but since it is all about riding gears, just wanted to chip in.I am your regular biker, got a duke courtesy xbhp's what bike section(sayank helped a lot) which helped me zero in my current ride. Then all sorts of groups formed on facebook.I started riding with a group of riders.Learnt many things from them.Always, many of them would be in full gears. And some noobs like me would be wondering, why so much of stuff to be worn everytime? Khalifukat shining mar rahe hai sab.(all are showing off). Then, on the first ride itself, one of us went from wrong side and skidded to avoid a car.He was wearing half pants and tshirt. He was badly bruised. Then onwards, a fear of riding, leaning into corners crept in my mind. And i got to understand importance of riding gear. Then, on some other ride, a similar incident happened with a rider wearing proper gear.He just got up with zero injuries. All this happened before my eyes. And all this made my resolve stronger to get my gear ASAP.I am a trainee merchant navy officer, here for exams and all money spent on college. So, i started saving.bit by bit.I was tempted to go in for fakes. But i held back.I told myself, since you are savimg, wait for some more time and get good stuff.Fakes are also costing you 1.5-2k.Also kept reading this thread all the while and asking suggestions.I was close to buy a jacket but saw frnds trg2, was impressed and got them the next day.15-20 days later, got my spartan helios jacket. Now saving for knee guards and dms/orazo boots. Will get proper riding boots and nice helmet(have a vega now) from abroad.Hope this helps for riders who are yet to decide whether to go in for riding gear or not.

Good for you buddy! Nothing teaches us like experience and your sharing and post was definitely one of the most useful and inspiring to newbies that I've read in a long time! Ride safe my friend!

I've said this a thousand times to newbies - on a motorcycle it's not IF you go down but WHEN. And trust me, after 25 years of riding and crashing more times than I care to remember, WHEN you crash you want as much gear between you and the road to break the fall as possible!
