Leather is basically for protection and comfort isn't added into the factor as a prime motive, but yes what's protection without comfort, it does have comfort component to it

You're right, the HYPERION is heavier because of the leather but not oppressively so. The leather is perforated for ventilation and is on the upper torso only. Will definitely post pics soon.

SPG is moving to a uniform MRP pricing to include local taxes in all states to avoid confusion amongst bikers in different states and if I recall correctly, the MRP of the jackets are now as follows:

HELIOS (std armour) - Rs. 5800/-
HELIOS (KNOX armour) - Rs. 6250/-
HYPERION (KNOX armour) - Rs. 7500/-

KNOX Advance X CE Back Armour upgrade - Rs.1800/-

The prices above are inclusive of VAT.

Neil - you're absolutely correct. Traders who do this insist on the extra surcharge to pass on the cost of the transaction fee levied by the banks. Technically, this is a violation of the service agreement with the bank. Big retailers cover this cost by simply charging more for the products, but the reality is that a lot of small businesses who cannot alter the well advertised MRPs do this to protect their margins. Wrong practice but prevalent unfortunately.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
      The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

      THE END

Hey! I thought that when you earlier mentioned there's a version with KNOX as a standard now, the price of the two was the same!

And here is the first look of the SPG Hyperion!

The jacket looks rather fetching. Need to check the fit and comfort now. Sunny, I called Hemanth at AH Helmets and he said it will be available only on Jan 18th. Can I see a sampla anywhere in Bombay before that?

I think you misunderstood. Please read my posts again! How can you expect to get KNOX armour for the same price?

I don't think so. As far as I know, the jacket is only now available in Chennai. Dealers would be getting stocks shortly I believe.

          • @Sunny- Yes, certainly did misunderstand....So that means I have to shell out 6200 for the Helios with Knox *sigh*

I need to make the purchase well before the month ends, as I'm heading to IBW in Goa. Hope I get to see and try the Hyperion before that.

            • @Sunnyside_up, do you have knox armour available separately? I would like some CE rated hip armour for my riding pants, let me know please.
Beware of Bread, don't say I didn't warn you!
More than 98 percent of convicted criminals are bread eaters !
Statistics show that more than 75 % of violent crimes are committed within 24 hours of eating bread !
Bread is known to be extremely addictive. Subjects deprived of bread and given only water, actually begged for bread after just two days !
Bread has been proven to kill. Scientists have now uncovered alarming evidence that 100% of the people who eat bread will eventually die !

At that price range, I don't think that there is any product that even comes close in terms of overall specs to the Helios, do you?

The retail price of the armour alone exceeds USD$30 and AFAIK in India only the Rs.14000/- Rev'it Tarmac Air comes with a similar spec.

SPG doesn't sell the armours separately, since the jackets and pants come from factory with armour supplied as OE. Only the KNOX Advance X Back Protector is available as an upgrade.

UK has lots of local brands, if I remember correctly and most of them are sold locally. If you friend is a real nitpicker, then it's real good to find a decent jacket, but I always suggest you pick one from India, locally for size, warranty peace of mind etc. Try RJays Swift, Spartan Helios or DSG Rage.

                    Cheers!

Sorry for the very late addition bro, had to get another battery for my camera.

I bought a Cramster TRG2 Glove as well. It was quick buy as well. Checked DSG Revive and went for this one.

Thought of a full glove, VFM part came kicking I think.

I myself wanted to buy the camo when I first zeroed in on Rjays, but changed my mind to all black Octane and selling it. Since my pants boots everything was black, so wanted a uniform color. But that said, camo is real cool. Happen to see them in person, but just couldn't wear it though.

                              • Bought Cramster Tundra

                                Hi all,
On Sunday (13th Jan), I finally went to visit a few shops in NCR for bike gear. A short summary on those who may in interested in biking gear in NCR region:
                                1. Redline Racing, Mansarover Garden - dealer for Performance Racing - wanted to try Joe Rocket Sonic R boots but he didn't have it in stock. This shop is a good option if you wanna buy tankpad, bar-grip, levers etc. They also stock AGVSport jackets as well as exhausts. I just bought a 'CBR' keyring from there...
                                2. Kaulson Racing, Naraina - dealer for Planet DSG and Forma shoes - could not visit them as no one was picking the phone - may be the shop was closed on Sunday.
                                3. Meandering India, Vasant Kunj - dealer for Cramster and Planet DSG - Has a lot of riding gear like jacket, pants, gloves and guards from Cramster and DSG. Very cordial sales staff. Rajeev Pradhan, the owner of the store, was out riding in Rider Mania 2013 and his friend was managing the shop - and he was quite helpful in advising on gear etc. I wanted to buy the Alpinestar SMX-1 riding boots but the size seemed slightly big and they didn't have the smaller size in stock so could not buy. Also tried the Cramster Velocity riding pants - seems good but, atleast for me, the knee armor was a bit too low - may not protect the knee in case of a fall and no way of adjusting/tightening it. They did not have the Knox Cross knee guards in stock which I wanted to try. Also tried the Cramster Eclipse all-season jacket - slightly heavy but looks well built - can be converted to half- mesh for summers, or can be used with thermal liner for winters. The leather portion looks good and should provide better protection in case of a fall! Also wanted to buy saddle and tank bag but since I did not go on my bike, I was not sure if they will fit properly or not and the store-person too said that it is better to try on bike and then buy. They had Cramster as well as Dirtsack bags. Didn't have Cramster Tundra gloves in stock though they had DSG Acqua gloves but I did not find them too comfortable.
                                4. Adventure 18, Satya Niketan, Dhaula Kuan - dealer for Cramster and Planet DSG. The main emphasis for them is on trekking gear and not bike gear. Bought Cramster Tundra from them as they had the stock - but he did not give any discount. Also saw Rynox gloves - one of the models seemed good (check them out on Rynox's site). Note that they open after 3PM on Sundays...

                                Short review on Cramster Tundra:

These are mainly for winter riding as they have an inner thermal liner (non-removable) that is also claimed to be water resistant and breathable. Wore them today morning and they seem to protect quite well against Delhi's winter and good enough on speeds of 80-90 kmph. Palm side is made of leather and though they do not provide as good a feel as my Alpinestar GPX, they are still good enough considering that they have to be thicker due to thermal lining. Have embedded protection in knuckles and fingers, as well as some foam padding on palm side. All in all, they seem to be value for money but I can only comment on comfort and durability only after some long-term usage.
