    Hi there!

It is practically IMPOSSIBLE to follow the rule if one uses his bike for commuting. Maybe one day, I'll follow the ATGATT rule and NEVER use my bike for commuting.
    Very True.
My car helps me commute and the bike helps me glide on tours/highways.

Honestly, I am just thankful to nature/life that I am needed to commute very rarely.
Have had those days when fuel needed for car was more than what I'd spend for my own food. And it's not a happy scene.

Noob question, but i would guess shoe spray for Woodland boots would work just as well?

      • I just completed 1000 kms on my newly brought 200 NS. My daily commute is very limited to 10-12 kms.

I like to ride on weekends. Right now doing some 200/250 kms ride around mumbai. I want to buy riding jacket for me and my wife.
After going through this thread I decided to buy Helios with knox elbow, shoulder and back armours. But as spartan came out with Hyerion,
I am confused, should i go for Helios or Hyperion?

Also suggest me good knee guards.

        - PM.

No! Shoe spray are completely different from the leather used in a motorcycle jacket. As Sunny mentioned, leather jackets are supple and soft, and need nourishment from the inside out. Whereas a shoe spray just basically adds more color and freshness to a washed leather shoe!

Hyperion is basically for men. There is another jacket called Spartan APHRODITE, which is specially tailored for women. Perhaps, you can go with HELIOS/HYPERION for you and APHRODITE for your better half.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
          The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Sounds fair enough, but he did mention using leather cream meant for some premium shoes....... this was what caused my doubt

There are leather creams for shoes too. Say you find shoe cream, real creamy polish, not hard ones, these are used for both shoes and jackets. When I had my BATA leather shoes, black, I got a shoe creme and it is actually like molten grease, very easy to use and super effective.

You can use the same thing if you have a leather jacket. I usually prefer neutral shoe creame, as they are easier to use and have a wide variety of applications. Color specific can be used only for the same.

Shoe/jacket creme are a little costlier than the normal KIWI POLISH/wax etc

              Cheers!

              • New stock of Spartan just arrived today afternoon at one of the stores in Blore & I wasted no time in getting my hands on the Hyperion! Might even be the first in Blore

The jacket seems to be good at all categories, the finishing is top notch, better than my earlier DSG and also compared it with DSG Rage & found it to be better. Even the leather portion is perforated along with the AeroMid SupraMesh, so bye bye afternoon sweat!

One specialty I found about Knox armours (which comes as standard with this) was that you dont feel the armour at all! Its almost like it is not even there. This makes it much more comfortable to wear. The back protector is currently foam (default) which can be upgraded to Knox (costs 2k) but it wasnt available at the moment.

Jacket has all the standard spartan features like gloves holder, key holder, 1 water proof, 1 normal pocket and 2 mesh pockets, 1 audio ready port & kidney protectors (foam).

Rode it for 30kms now, mainly in evening 5pm sunlight & needless to say, it doesnt feel hot. After 40kmph, it feels like someone turned on a fan or something (this might be the case with all mesh jackets) & I guess after wearing textile jacket for so long, any mesh would be huge welcome

                Some pics

Perforated leather. I have one query, since it covers only upper 1/3rd of the jacket, does it fully help in protection??

Left pocket is waterproof, right one is normal. That is the key holder below the pocket.

The jacket comes with a rain liner, which can worn separately as an independent rain coat!

The total cost was 7500 incl taxes, which I feel is VFM

I had planned on buying DSG Primal/Carbon but I bought Revive, settled for semi gauntlet as I found full gauntlet really cumbersome.

Superlikey. I've loved the HYPERION just by the looks of it and red is always sexier, would go well with my bike. But with the current set of gear, I have, nothing in the radar, at least for decades to come.

Excellent buy mate. Any, any, any day better than the dreaded DSG jackets (gloves exalted)

                  Cheers!

Thanks a lot bro! I was very surprised when I wore it the first time at the store, it was almost as if it was tailor made for me esp the shoulder armours. I even checked if they were removed Bought this after long hard researching & it has paid off

That's the thing about KNOX, thin, flexible, lightweight and protective. Icing on the cake! Though we pay for it.

i have got myself knox cross knee guards from outdoortravelgear. They feel good enough, but a tad overpriced at 4k. Mind you, these are most comfortable when you are not walking!

Lucky you! i have to go to Bangalore/Chennai just to get a look at it!

The rain liner is good, but did u see the optional thermal liner? i wanted to know whether the inner layer of the thermal liner is of same material like the rain liner. For now, my rain liner is also being used as thermal liner! Incidentally, it also soaks me in sweat and the inner material really clings to the skin, i think i'd be better off without it in the rain!

Still dream of the RE nylon jacket though, all because my ride is an RE

U might want to get those full gauntlets later, i also have the revive gloves and while they are good, i feel they dont go well with riding jacket. Found this out on a cold morning ride, the gloves would neither go into the jacket sleeve nor go above it Whatever i did, there was always a gap between glove cuff and jacket so that the cold air had a free passage! Am going to go for full gauntlets at the first chance i get!

+1 to that. elbow armour especially feels like it isn't even there

                          • Hey. I ride the P200NS and the RTR180, avg monthly running is around 1.5k km. Lately have been riding on the NS a lot. I'm planning to get a riding jacket for myself, which I will not be using during my ride to college. Will only use it for my weekend rides. I would be glad if someone could suggest to me a few VFM jackets, preferably available offline in Pune.. I don't have a big budget, I will be saving up for the jacket. Also, yesterday my friend bought an LS2 jacket for 6 grand, which personally I didn't like.

Also, how are the axo knee guards available online?

                            Thanks in advance.

Please go back just a few pages from here, and I have posted a list of affordable and quality jackets from a brand called Spartan. No jacket is less than 5k for a basic one that is with armor. And Spartan guys have really revolutionized what an affordable jacket with class protection.

LS2 jackets, I've seen a few photos of it from FB, personally felt like it's crap! But can you ask your friend to post a review or post some snaps of it inside out, high def would be definitely appreciated.

and how do CE rated EN 1621-1 moulded PU armor of spartan ICARUS differes from knox armor ?? What kind of fitting do you suggest for a jacket, tight or loose fit ??
