VJ - what do you mean by integrated? Is it like I explained above - sewn into the jacket or is it removable like the thermal?

I was not asking about the flap - like I said I have one. Just wanted to know if the rain liner is removable or not in the present day versions.

The one I wore (though size was a problem here) my friend's when we did Ladakh had a removable thermal liner and the waterproof liner integrated. It sounds crazy you might ask what's the use of mesh which equals no airflow. But since it's breathable, I guess the sweat is vaporized. It was pathetic in traffic when riding in Delhi. But once you're on the move, it's so breathable.

The new one isn't any different to the old one from what I've worn and seen IMHO.

Since the size was a problem for me to check being too tight for me, that played in me sweating more. But the correct fit would be a best bet to invest money in.

      Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
      The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

From your looooong answer, I must assume that the rain liner is still stitched inside the mesh.

That's crazy indeed. The liner blocks the airflow completely and you stew inside. Its like wearing the rain liner inside the mesh jacket in the sun!! And let me assure you that liner is NOT breathable. I too bought it because I liked the design - I though it was clever - but the plastic layer inside the mesh killed ventilation completely. Add the non-perforated leather and I got cooked! I wrote to the company pointing this out about two years back - looks like they didn't get my mail!

Precisely. Stitched like the DSG Triton one crazy jacket. I don't even understand why they manufactured it in the first place, but that's just my opinion.

What's innovation without improving the products. Why not a full sleeved jacket from Spartan with even dashing colors

          Cheers!

          • Hey all,

I looked up some jackets and gloves and found these. Do you think this is a good choice?

            SMX-3 Air Glove - Gloves - Moto | Alpinestars

            T-GP R Air Jacket | Alpinestars

How do these look? I will be getting protective inserts later as well, but i think for now these should be good. Let me know!

Jacket is great as a summer jacket, has no liners so pretty much useless in winters and rain. You can get cramster and spartan for cheaper price with liners in them too. But since you are going for inserts later, a* is the best option, don't think other jackets offer that feature.
The gloves looks like for soft core riding only, won't serve much good in terms of protection. I don't think it has impact absorption/protection materials in them.

              Cheers

Thanks for the comments Krishna. I chose these specifically because of the insert options. Also, the website says it has a removable weather resistant liner to help protect against the rain. I'm not worried about the winter because it doesn't get cold here at all (not according to me :P). Also, the gloves have some level of protection, I wasn't looking for heavy protection levels either.

Let me know what you think! Thanks

If you're getting something from abroad always get some deal in leather, which is always my opinion because the stuff you've outlined is more or less sold here in our homeland.

Get some leather stuff and for mesh needs there is lot to choose from here in India. But anyway that's my opinion.

                  Cheers!

                      • Anyone here using Spartan gloves for a while now?

I am looking to pickup a full gauntlet and short gloves? I don't know anyone who's picked up either of Ares/Pegasus/Phaeton gloves from Spartan.

My Cramster TRG2's are crying for a replacement after 3 years of everyday use.

                        • If anybody is interested I have a brand new riding Jacket for sale got from US. It is made from high density 1680 denier polyester and water proof fabric jacket. I got it for myself but ordered a wrong size by mistake so now have to sell it. The size is 3XL but it runs short and can fit one of medium build 5'8" height. The make is Xelement - Xelement Men's Stealth Black/Green Gunmetal Armored Textile Jacket. Its in bangalore so pick up would be best.

Saar, me using the Ares for quite sometime now! Few things worth mentioning :- extremely comfortable interior, doesn't get sweaty or damp easily; soft and supple leather. The fit was perfect for me. However the wrist could have incorporated better armor instead of the soft impact absorbing foam. The gauntlet could have had a slightly more wider opening to facilitate tucking in the jacket.

Quality and ventilation wise, I found these much better than the DSG gauntlets. Perfect for daily use. Have used it in the scorching sun of Hyderabad. In fact I used it in my Bangalore ride when I met up you folks!
You can take the ride away from me but you cannot take the rider out of my soul.........

                            • Hi guys.
Im planning to change my Riding Jacket.
Which one will be better among these?
Dsg Nero?? Or Dsg Triton? Or any other Racing Inspired ones.
                              Budget : 5k-6.5k.
Any other which are better than these too are appreciated in the list.
Royal Enfield Bullet Standard 350cc 1989, Bajaj Avenger 200-2009, Pulsar 200 NS 2015.

You sure about the ventilation part?

Coz from the images I don't see any vents on the Ares and there's isnt any talk about ventilation on the product description as well. Well this holds true even for Pegasus.

In contrast to the TRG2 which I know has functioning vents, albeit with its crapster quality. But still! Even the DSG Primal has vents visible in the pictures and its given in the product description as well.

Now I know that vent's hardly work, but some vent is better than no vent at all right?
