DSG was the first one to entree as a local made brand, it's been here for years and have gotten really good inputs. Not such a bad and not such inferior either, good jacket for the price.

Thanks VJ, I am kinda NEWBIE with riding gears.. SO shud i go ahead with it or should i look for other options within similar price bracket ? I just want to ensure i am buying the right quality and safety for 6000 bucks

If you have a strict budget of 6000, try Cramster Breezer or DSG Maze or Spartan Helios. All three jackets are good. If you can extend 2k more you can even get a little better ones.

I tried all of DSG's gloves for her, even in the smallest size the knuckle protector doesn't come over the knuckles. Tried Cramster Flux & Blaster also, but wasn't very happy with the quality since I had already seen Rjays, RE & DSG.

For me, I am probably taking RE's gauntlet (at least one piece of gear matching the bike ) as it felt very flexible (possibly because RE doesn't have a pre-curve?) and 'leathery' compared to the what I liked second, the DSG Revive. Initially, I had thought I would like DSG Primal when I saw it online but didn't like it upon trying. The worse fit however, was Rjays Canyon .. don't know why.

That's a great bag you pointed out, helmet plus backpack! I think it would serve me great, wonder why I didn't spot it when I was at OTG.

Just as a snippet, don't go for soft leather punk gloves, they are pretty much useless when one takes a spill at high speed. They are mostly like leather hand warmer gloves or these HD rider style gloves. Good riding gloves' leather are usually stiff and hard, but once they are worn and due to continuous wear and tear they will perfectly set it. My full gauntlet gave me rashness in my hands, but wearing them repeatedly and now they fit perfectly, no hotspots even in winter or summer, just perfect fit.

Gloves do take time to set it, and once they get mended and will take the shape of your palm real good.

By worst fit, I reckon you don't like the freedom/movement in the gloves, if I am not mistaken. If that's the case, then all leather gloves do have some stiffness to them, and they do take a little time to set in, and once they do they are perfect.

But the call is yours, do make a wise choice. Don't go for one without knuckle protectors and textile ones. Leather should be your ante/

Yeah, it will definitely be leather with knuckle & finger protectors. I also agree about the wearing in of the gloves as the stiff leather eventually moulds to one's hand.

The bad fit on Rjays Canyon wasn't the stiffness, if I remember the finger lengths were weirdly disproportionate!

I don't know why the RE gauntlet was softer, might be a piece tried too many times, or improperly stored, or the famed RE quality . I will try DSG Revive, Primal & RE gauntlet again before finally buying.

Which gloves are you using? DSG Primal?

On another note, has anyone got any user reviews on any of RE's gear? It's been about 7 months since launch & the store first claimed they are flying off the shelf and now they say it's always sold out! They joke there will be a waiting period for it soon ... yeah right .

I don't know about 'RE gear, but I think the "cult" followers of RE always make it out of stock.

RE gear are manufactured in the same place as most gears, but are priced a little competitively and all I've seen is their jacket, no review whatsoever from my side.

I use RJAYS CARBON COBRA.

Oh, haven't seen that one. I think Bachoo stocks only Rjays Canyon.

That model glove was phased off long back from Bachoo motors inventory. I wish they bring back it back. It's still manufactured by RJ but Bachoo doesn't resell them.

I saw that backpack last year when I went to the Adventure18 store in Mbai. It serves the purpose but it won no points for quality. Felt rough-hewn and the material used was pretty ordinary. I've been searching for good helmet luggage for a while but in India the Cramster seems to be the only option unless someone like ViaTerra comes up with something.
There's far better stuff abroad (will post some links later), but the catch is one has to either order online or get it from someone.

There are average. It is good only for city rides and not for long journey.

My brother got a pair of those in 2011. I had the chance to use them for quite a few times. Easily beats most other full gauntlet gloves sold in India on most counts. Looks killer in white. I reckon one could get those off ebay though.

Apart from the DSG motomesh,these are the only gloves which would afford you nice enough protection under 1000 bucks. Would recommend getting the Cramster MX3 if you can stretch your budget by 200 bucks more.

I guess i'll end up buying the Spartan Helios after checking out the reviews on the net. Now the search is on for Knee-guards. I believe its better to get the riding pants instead. What are the pros and cons if we compare both?

Spartan has good reviews. Do try as many brands as you can before you finalise.

If you can afford riding pants in your budget, definitely pick them over knee guards as they also have hip protection in addition to being much more tear & bruise resistant than jeans/trousers you would wear your knee guards on.

Haven't tested my jacket yet as am expecting my bike in a month. But the rain-liner, I believe, will hold up fantastically. Before buying, I read reviews from heavy tourers who have used it under rain, sun & snow and it held up perfectly!

I need to visit Bachoo motors soon then. And yeah about rains, you know how heavy it pours in and around Mumbai..a friends of mine has a DSG nero and he say that sometimes water seeps in from the neck area. Nothing alarming though.
Riding pants-I have shortlist the one on cramster website. Hope its good enough and that's the uppermost limit of my budget..about 6k

I have the same white colored one, it's just excellent. The only disadvantage being removing them during rides as it takes time to undo and redo the glove. But all in an excellent glove.

If you purchased them before they were phased out long ago, they have lasted well!

Btw, I saw variously priced Fox (Rs.450) & Axo (Rs.750/1100/1300) knee guards on Ebay, I assumed they are not originals. Must be just hard plastic, good for preventing bruises on low speed falls. Anyway, have decided I will stick to trying & buying, no online stuff. Let's also wait for Cramster.

Almost most of them are definitely knock off that's a better term for fakes. As I said genuine knee guards cost well over 5k.

AXO and FOX are being used by a lot of my friends and do their job just fine. They are much much much better than wearing nothing at all.

Pros of knee guards are pretty basic they are cheap, light weight, and can be carried away with ease for the most part.

Cons, protects just the knee as opposed to overall leg protection offered by pants.

Riding pants are heavy, cost more, and offers overall leg protection and protects against rain wind etc.

Cons, if you fall and have a slide your textile pants are sure to get melted and have a gaping hole or rips and the investment just goes to drain whereas kneeguards are cheap if damaged, but that's just one con as opposed to the benefits of riding pant.

Get pants for touring and knee pads for commuting.
