re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
A proper riding jacket has armors which is why it is any-day better than normal ones so it is your choice for long rides, it is actually not mentioned anywhere that you should wear only riding jackets for long ridesOriginally posted by abhiwltya View Post

re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
Hmmm, what i meant to really ask was is paying almost double for those A* jackets worth it? Or could i go with the others if they offer similar or close to similar features and save some money in the process. In short are the A* products significantly better than those offered by cramster or SPG to warrant me spending that extra cash on it.

I humbly request you to go through my post again back to back with this query of yours - all's answered.Originally posted by ayu135 View PostHmmm, what i meant to really ask was is paying almost double for those A* jackets worth it? PS - Once again, if you've money, go for it but if you're considering to save some money at all the Indian alternates aren't bad either - in fact, the most basic A* might loose out with a high-end Indian counterpart whose price might still be lesser than it (brand plays a role, mate). Like I said, these are for the Indian market which was deprived of riding gears a decade ago & they are doing pretty well. It'll all depend on your greens!!!BENEATH THE REMAINS.........

re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
A* is the brand which is counted purely in "Premium Segment" .............. If you can afford please go ahead ........... and Chaos bhai has already explained it enoughOriginally posted by ayu135 View PostThanks for the detailed reply @xpranav
For the riding jackets i checked out the ones you mentioned. I will also check out the KTM ones. I had one more question how do the jackets and gloves from alpinestars on the DSG website compare to the ones you mentioned?
Alpinestars Viper Air Jacket: Black - 14,499.00Rs
Alpinestars SMX-2 Air Carbon Glove: Orange - 4,499.00Rs
I can extend my budget here a bit as i had set side around 8k for the helmet but the SOL helmets seem decent and cost around 5k, so is the alpinestars stuff worth the money or i am better off with the SPG stuff? I ask this because i have heard that the alpinestars makes great riding gear.
to make you feel comfortable

I think this link https://www.xbhp.com/talkies/general...iker-need.html will help you with more options if you want ............ and make sure you do not fall for an imported product because the custom duty along with the current economy (suffering from acidity) will drill a big hole in your pocket.Originally posted by ayu135 View PostThank you once more. re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
Any apparel that's branded by the retailer as PowerParts in case of KTM, Harely etc etc, are purely manufactured in the same place the quasi jackets are manufactured. It adds the premium feel, plus who wouldn't like to plonk both the ride and gear manufactured by the same manufacturer. Some go for it, some don't. And almost by default these after market add ons are real and I mean *real* costly depending on the brand, whereas you can get the same stuff for 1/2 the price elsewhere.Originally posted by ayu135 View PostThank you once more. I am not taking you off track as such, but it's just a suggestion before you purchase branded apparel.
Cheers!

The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

re: Universal : Riding Gear Thread
I have been reading almost all posts on jackets yet am none the wiser. I need a jacket that is a bit of a contradiction in terms. Very airy but armoured!
Presently, I have a SCOYCO JK17. Solid piece of gear, wore it to Leh. It is so warm that even on K'La, in June, I did not need the inner thermal liner. Lots of vents, pockets, worth the Rs 6800 I paid Baljeet Kochhar for it.
And then, the flip side is that I literally BAKE when I wear it for long rides; a cannibal would be drooling with the delicious aroma of freshly cooking human meat. I have major heat management problems, perspire more than the average guy and in general, have a pitta kind of disposition. So I keep the front zipper open by more than 3/4 of the way, open all vents wear a light cotton shirt underneath etc yet suffer so badly that I am contemplating NOT wearing it at all on long rides. The safety angle inhibits such thought turning to action but I have to now take a call. Just the thought of wearing it fills me with dread - God, once again, the sweating WHILE I am wearing it....
Any suggestions towards a suitable replacement would be welcome BUT only from actual owners please.
Thanks.

You should check out the SPG Icarus ............. it has a lot of mesh material around to allow the user to afford a lot of ventilation and yes I own it and have ridden wearing it in Delhi SummerOriginally posted by icemang View PostI have been reading almost all posts on jackets yet am none the wiser. Hey..just want to know for how much distance ride xbhpians use their safety gears?Helmet is a must for even 1km ride..what about other gears like jackets, gloves, knee guards and shoes?"Vibes transmitted from crank shaft to frame, then through the bearings of the head stock and into the stem where it meets the triple clamp and into the clip-ons where it is greeted with great pleasure by my hands"-ratfighter mod rtr

Need to attend parties/marriages? Tough call. I had one such situation where I was wearing a suit. I couldn't wear my gear on it. What did I do?
I took an auto.
P.S - Like helmets are a must, riding gear are too. You can always crash in <1 km, right?Got a $5 head? Get a $5 helmet.

I would suggest you 2 options,
teh A* Tgp air , the new model with the rain liner , that will cost about 15k something i think, i have seen the jacket and had asked for proper reviews and they are really happy with it, the armor is really light and great, the air flow is superb, the rain liner is also effective in the.
Now the next suggestion i would put forward is the spartan gears, in that the hyperion / helios, now i don't need to explain the differences between the hyperion and helios to you, you would easily understand once you see it.
the spartan range has the knox armor, lightweight and flexible and comfortable to wear , just like the a* , and air flow is really really good on this one, can't compare with a* as i havent ridden in one, you don't tend to sweat even with 3-4 minutes of idle in traffic(have tested it :-p and i sweat like a pig) , now coming for rain protection, the rain liner of the SPG range works like a charm, i can vouch for that.
You can read the full review in my signature if you are interested in the spg product.
Cheers
