You can also look out for spartan centaur gloves. It is a full leather semi gauntlet gloves. Here is a very good review of those gloves.http://www.xbhp.com/talkies/general-...ce-review.html

Hey guys have had this query in mind for a long time.

Being a college student I'm collecting pocket money and trying to buy VFM riding gear.

Currently using a Scoyco JK17.

I have collected 4k. Regarding lower body protection should I go for Spartan Perseus knee guards and get the JCB Excavator.
Or should I wait and collect more and go for riding pants??

Thanks

Soul_Hunter, spartan gloves seem a lil overpriced. centaur is over budget for me too.can't bargain either as I will have to ask the dealer to order and bring it down for me.but thanks for that review link.uta a good review.sadly I was hoping for an rjays canyon review as well.well, now I also have to start hunting for cramster tgr2 review;had tried these on few months ago and didn't feel anything special bout them.
so its either revive/canyon/tgr2. I'm more concerned about the comparative leather thickness/safety.

The SPG perseus is an knee guard that can be worn under our pants. Most times, i end up wearing my underpants knee guard instead of the riding pants & since they are lightweight & comfy, you almost never realise wearing them. On the other hand, riding pants while providing gud protection, can be a hassle to wear in non-riding conditions like college, etc while SPG Perseus is simply discrete. So, if you wish to go track riding/touring, go for riding pants else the SPG Perseus is gud enough for everyday situations. As for jcb boots, a review is posted a few pages earlier, so you decide as those boots will protect you but not nearly as well as riding boots.tc

Thanks for your inputs.

I'm looking to go for local 100 - 200 km rides soon. Won't be into track riding.

I know JCB boots won't provide the protection that proper motorcycle boots will but currently don't have the budget for the same.

Well don't know much about the RJAYS but the other two gloves you mentioned have got some nice reviews though.
You can search for the canyon reviews in the forum.

I have used the TR2G for about 2 month. It was my first riding glove.
Was extremely good, the leather was good and thick , padding was also good, stitch quality was ok, the gauntlets mechanism was top notch, stood in place very nicely.
But had to sell off my gears back then , so had to let it go.
I did not go for it again since , I was not looking for a full gauntlet gloves for the second time.
If full gauntlet is your preference, then under the 2.5k range TR2G is the best bet

Bang on the spot, the elbow Velcro strip is a sore point with me too. Have to twist it around and pull it to tighten it correctly. Thinking of stitching more Velcro on it so it catches at the spot I need.

okay this is what Sunnyside_up has replied in response to my observations:

1. The main zipper has been left without a locking mechanism on purpose, to avoid sticking which can happen on the large toothed VISLON zipper. Some brands provide a small Velcro tab at the top to prevent the zipper sliding down, but we found that sliding zippers were too rare an occurrence to warrant the perennial nuisance of the additional tab.

2. The Velcro strap on the elbow should not be tightened beyond its full range. The correct way is to pull the strap until there is a two finger width gap with the arm straightened. This will help prevent circulation loss when riding over long periods. The strap length has been maintained for optimum median length over the largest number of users. If yours arms are thinner than this standard length, a simple solution is to simply fold the strap over into a "z" and run a stitch across it to shorten the length of the strap. Pulling too much on the strap will also expose the rough part of the Velcro to rub against the mesh on the sides

of course I had considered a diy myself but hey good that Sunnyside is responding to our queries

krish2778,so the gauntlets can be cumbersome in daily rides/short trips .and that's why u opted out of them second time rite?which are your current gloves again? my trips will mostly be restricted to 40-50kms distance one way.maybe the odd trissur-kozhikode trip(mostly won't).the thing I considered revive/rjays was because the tbhp guy had used and recommended them.if you have a membership there could u ask him as well bout the two I mentioned now.n-aditya, he's a moderator in the motorbikes section.
I'll be in cochin Sunday/Monday ;will check out the three at showroom.why not drop by if u happen to have some business there on Monday?

That is one of the reason i opted for it. I find it a bit inconvenient when I have to take too much time for removing and putting on the gloves again, especially for daily commute when i might have to pull over 3-4 times for attending phone calls , and touch screens are not operatable using gloves.
And no, I am not at Tbhp bro. It is fine, i told you about the revive na, Rjays gloves i have absolutely no idea how good they will perform, as I haven't used it.

And less chance of being at cochin this weekend or monday.

how dose cramster eclipse fare compared to spartan hyperion, in terms of year round usage & durability?
it seems like cramster is providing the same 'hybrid' jacket (albeit with exception of leather being non-perforated) with more liners for less money!!

i've heard/read rave reviews of spartan products specially there built quality, where as cramster got mixed reviews previously, are there recent products on par with spartan?

firstly I highly doubt the genuineness of the products displayed in the links. Also though they have free shipping via regular Chinese Air post, you can not expect that to reach you for atleast another month I.e. if it does and then there is the issue of transit damage.

Opting for a faster shipping would mean an additional cost of min 1500. Which would take up the glove costs to close to 4k, at that price point you have great leather gloves option by Cramster/DSG/Spartan/Rynox. Have a look at those too.

Duty is not a problem for something at that price point but like you said, authenticity is a major concern looking at those prices/lack of description etc.

If authentic there is a high chance of them being factory rejects/compromised gear.

that's why i was considering to purchase online.
